Just Like Its Menu Options, Saladworks Franchise Expansion Showed Endless Possibilities in 2020

2021-01-14T14:45:06-05:00January 14th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

Fast-Casual Salad Concept Entered Multiple New Channels; Poised to Build Further in 2021.

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.Saladworks, the nation’s leading fast-casual create-your-own salad concept, has grown by more than 40 restaurant locations in 2020. Showing creativity in the process, Saladworks not only entered more traditional restaurant franchises, but it also expanded into non-traditional retail presences such as grocery, universities, ghost kitchens, combo kitchens and coming soon, Military bases. It’s also using REEF Technology’s food vessels, primarily as parking lot-based mobile ecosystems, as a means to accommodate a larger number and wider area of delivery orders.  Finally, Saladworks is testing “Sally” the world’s first salad robot for use in hospitals and other vending-related foodservice locations.

“In addition to robust traditional restaurant expansion, our team demonstrated a high level of creativity in developing exciting new avenues of success in 2020, all of which will be long-term plays into 2021 and beyond,” said Eric Lavinder, Chief Development Officer for Saladworks. “Within each new non-traditional growth channel, we’re able to share our healthy, nutritious and flavorful menu offerings with guests who may have not been able to enjoy our concept otherwise.”

Among the 40 restaurants that opened in 2020, roughly 80% were non-traditional openings. In large part due to these widespread avenues, Saladworks entered Canada, California, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Ohio, Florida and Indiana – all this year. It partnered with two new grocery brands, making a total of three currently. Saladworks will continue this growth vertical and sees this path as one that will outlast COVID, as guest look for continued convenience. The first half of the brand’s 2021 already includes at least 20 new restaurant openings, nine signed franchisees seeking site selection and five locations currently under construction.

On top of Saladworks prolific growth trajectory, last month its parent company, Centre Lane Partners, LLC acquired Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh, a leading fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant brand, and Frutta Bowls, a unique fast-casual concept serving a variety of superfood bowls, fresh fruit smoothies and more, to form WOWorks. The newly formed family of brands share a core DNA designed to meet a growing demand among Millennial families and GenZ guests who crave healthy, nutritious and flavorful dining options with a high level of customization and convenience. In addition to Saladworks, the new WOWorks entity is also expecting significant growth for Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh and Frutta Bowls in 2021.

“Our goal is to continue to grow wisely and strategically, seeking innovative new opportunities for Saladworks to flourish,” said Lavinder. “We’d like to see the brand double in size before 2022, and we are working tirelessly to realize this goal.”

LearningRx Brain Training ‘Survives and Thrives During Pandemic,’ Reports BOSS Magazine

2021-01-12T11:33:45-05:00January 12th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — LearningRx (www.LearningRx.com), the largest one-on-one brain training company in the world, was featured in BOSS Magazine’s article, “The Year in Franchising.” The piece focuses on a variety of businesses that attempted to navigate changes brought on by the pandemic and includes a quote from LearningRx CEO Kim Hanson.

The article touches on LearningRx being named to Franchise Business Review’s “Top Education Franchises in High Demand During a Pandemic” due to the company’s focus on helping students avoid falling behind this academic school year.

“One of the reasons we’ve managed to thrive during the pandemic is because our brain training programs can also be done virtually,” explains Hanson. “LearningRx clients can choose to complete sessions in person at a LearningRx Brain Training Center or online. The online option allows clients to train from the comfort of their own home while still receiving the benefits of one-on-one brain training. By targeting and training weak brain skills—such as memory, attention, and auditory processing—our programs help strengthen the root cause of learning struggles to make learning faster and easier in any subject.”

To help determine why a student struggles, families can schedule a Cognitive Skills Assessment. If the results determine weak cognitive skills, a personalized brain training program may help strengthen the foundational cognitive skills to make learning (and life) easier.

Conserva Irrigation Announces Accelerated Growth Plans and a New Partnership with Franchise FastLane to Increase its Expansion Across the United States

2021-01-11T13:22:41-05:00January 11th, 2021|Tags: , , , , , |

Revolutionary Water Conservation Focused Irrigation Company Plans Accelerated Expansion After Reaching 100 Locations in Three Years and Posting Significant 2020 Sales Growth.

RICHMOND, Va.Conserva Irrigation, the only national outdoor irrigation company founded on the concept of water conservation, announced today it has partnered with the country’s leading franchise sales organization, Franchise FastLane, as part of its strategy to significantly accelerate the growth of the business throughout the United States.

This comes shortly after Conserva Irrigation announced just last month that, as the largest and first-to-market franchise in the irrigation industry, it had eclipsed 100 territories operationally. Conserva Irrigation operates underneath the Outdoor Living Brands umbrella organization, a franchise company that has successfully scaled four similar exterior home services franchises.

After testing the business model in various pilot markets for five years, Conserva Irrigation was launched as a franchise by Outdoor Living Brands in mid-2017. Chris Grandpre, Chairman & CEO of Outdoor Living Brands, said “we’ve admired Franchise FastLane’s ability to deliver exponential franchise growth to its partner brands. After methodically testing the Conserva Irrigation business model for five years and then building it to a 100+ unit franchise system over the last three years, our organization is ready to support the exponential growth that we’re confident Franchise FastLane will deliver. We’ve invested in the support team and support systems and have the experience and track record gained from our other brands to handle an increased pace of new Conserva franchise location openings. In light of how selective Franchise FastLane is, we’re thrilled to partner with them for this next chapter of our growth.”

According to Carey Gille, President of Franchise FastLane, “we conducted preliminary due diligence on over 200 franchise brands in 2020, but brought on less than ten as new brand partners. We are extremely selective in search of the most compelling franchise opportunities. We look for concepts with strong unit economics for franchisees, attractive ROI’s, happy and successful franchisees who support the brand’s growth, and a franchisor willing and able to support the expedited growth that Franchise FastLane will bring. Outdoor Living Brands has a proven track record and experience scaling franchise businesses. That track record and financial strength, combined with Conserva’s first-to-market positioning and its differentiated business model makes this a compelling franchise offering for Franchise FastLane to represent.”

Labeled as an essential business amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Conserva Irrigation’s rapid growth can be credited to innovation, teamwork and culture, and the strength of its business model and proprietary processes to audit irrigation systems. Conserva’s methodology includes a quantitative rating of the water efficiency of an irrigation system called the System Efficiency Score or “SES”.

The SES allows a residential or commercial property owner to understand how much water their sprinkler systems are wasting, as well as to understand what repairs and improvements need to be made to reduce water consumption and lower water bills while keeping turf and plant material healthy.

“Conserva Irrigation is proud to be the industry leader in providing responsible, water-efficient irrigation solutions to our clients, while helping our franchisees to build vibrant businesses that allow them to achieve their personal career, lifestyle and financial goals,” stated Russ Jundt, founder of Conserva Irrigation and brand leader of the business unit under Outdoor Living Brands. “We are excited to have the opportunity to accelerate the pace of adding new franchisees and locations to our system in partnership with Franchise FastLane.”

In addition to its growth, Conserva Irrigation recently jumped more than 1,400 spots in last year’s Inc. 5000 ranking, which lists companies based on their percentage of revenue growth from 2016 to 2019. Conserva Irrigation also experienced its highest sales months in June and July 2020 since the company’s inception in 2010. With a successful track record, Conserva Irrigation has remained nimble during the pandemic to sustain company growth. It adjusted field operating procedures and launched virtual franchisee training this year allowing it to continue its supporting new franchise openings while maintaining social distancing requirements.

Conserva Irrigation is planning expansion throughout the United States and continues to seek single- and multi-unit franchise operators with a range of corporate experience, independent or franchise business owners looking for diversification opportunities, and irrigation companies seeking to align with Conserva’s proven business model and systems. Incentives are also available for veterans, multi-territory agreements, and those with existing irrigation businesses.

Interim HealthCare Inc. Names 2020 Therapist of the Year

2021-01-08T12:19:24-05:00January 8th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

Ethan Sowell of Easley, South Carolina commended for going above and beyond to safely rehabilitate patients at home to protect them from COVID-19 exposure risks.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health and hospice and healthcare staffing services, names Ethan Sowell, physical therapist, as the 2020 Therapist of the Year. Ethan earned widespread appreciation from patients and leaders for his commitment to delivering compassionate care and supporting the mission of Interim HealthCare of the Upstate in South Carolina.

This honor is given to an individual who embodies Interim HealthCare’s core values of integrity, compassion and customer focus. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, physical therapy assistants and certified occupational therapy assistants were all eligible to receive the award.

“Ethan consistently receives compliments about his dedication and compassion from his patients and their families,” said Katherine Craven, RN, clinical manager for Interim HealthCare of the Upstate. “We greatly appreciate his professionalism and how he consistently goes above and beyond for his patients and to further the mission of our home healthcare agency.”

Since joining Interim HealthCare of the Upstate in 2018, Ethan quickly advanced to become a therapy lead. He also trains new therapists on home healthcare essentials, the importance of following orthopedic physician protocols, and how to use the company’s electronic medical record system.

Having access to quality physical therapy in the home is a critical part of the care continuum, as it places patients back on the path to improved health and wellness and can avoid rehospitalizations. Therapists also play an integral role on the care team and in helping people to regain their productivity and independence.

This year, Ethan also helped patients and their families navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. This work included ensuring that a patient recovering from a brain tumor removal received the expert rehabilitation needed at home to prevent a transfer to a hospital or long-term care facility with higher infection risks.

“I’m honored to be named as the 2020 Therapist of the Year,” said Ethan Sowell. “I chose home healthcare as the site of my physical therapy work because I get to build more personal relationships to help patients rehabilitate from a wide variety of medical conditions where they feel most comfortable, and where healthcare outcomes are improved. It makes me happy to have a rewarding career that enables me serve and support others.”

To find more future award-winning employees, Interim HealthCare also recently launched its ‘Made for This‘ recruiting campaign. The company seeks employees for a range of career paths from paraprofessionals (home health, hospice and support aides) to LPNs, RNs, therapists, and CNAs. Interim HealthCare is also recruiting service-oriented people wanting to transition from other industries, or those looking to change healthcare careers to gain more flexibility and autonomy.

Melissa Williams of Tallahassee, Florida recognized for her compassion toward clients and career committed to caregiving.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health and hospice and healthcare staffing services, names Melissa Williams, HHA/CNA, as its 2020 Paraprofessional of the Year. Caring for individuals and families in Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon and Wakulla counties, Melissa has been a member of the Interim HealthCare of Tallahassee, Florida team since 2015.

This honor is given to an individual that provides exemplary patient care and continuously demonstrates the H.E.A.R.T. qualities of Interim HealthCare paraprofessionals, which stands for Honorable, Experience, Ability, Reliability and Training.

Melissa’s work in Interim Healthcare of Tallahassee’s senior independent living facility consists of seeing 10-13 patients a day for short visits focused on wellness checks and medication reminders. Despite challenges brought on by COVID-19, Melissa has remained dedicated to her work and extremely diligent about keeping her multiple clients safe from infection. In addition, she consistently brainstorms ways for her team to better serve patients, such as being at the forefront of the staff’s adoption of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) and mobile device documentation earlier in the year.

“Melissa has been an excellent home health aide and member of our team for over five years. But over the past eight months especially, she has led the way for our team to improve processes and introduce substantial modifications to our workflows,” said Cynthia Lavoie, owner of Interim HealthCare of Tallahassee. “The efficiency, stamina, and personal interaction that she brings to each of her clients, six days a week, is truly admirable. Her clients genuinely look forward to seeing her every day and we are so lucky to have a caregiver like Melissa on our staff.”

Melissa is also invested in her education and was the first of Interim HealthCare of Tallahassee’s employees to complete the company’s Care Professional Development Path for Aides program, also known as the Pin program. The program allows employees to earn specializations through continuing education to expand their career path in caregiving, earning raises for each level accomplished. Thanks to her credentialed knowledge base, Melissa is the first person assigned to assist new clients in the senior independent living facility, and is also frequently asked to train new staff.

Melissa’s advancement within the company is a testament to Interim HealthCare’s commitment to professional career expansion. First in Home Care®, the home healthcare leader provides advancement opportunities for all caregivers, including aides, with specialized training and professional certifications to improve clinical outcomes, as well as business and operations opportunities. As Melissa found, home healthcare is the perfect setting for those who enjoy serving others, are selfless, trustworthy, lead with compassion, and are dependable workers both independently and as part of care team.

“I’m honored to be chosen as Interim HealthCare’s 2020 Paraprofessional of the Year, and to contribute to improving people’s lives through caregiving,” said Melissa. “The sense of purpose that I feel coming into work every day is what inspires me to keep growing in my career, and I’m grateful to Interim HealthCare for providing the resources to help me achieve that.”

To find more future award-winning employees, Interim HealthCare also recently launched its ‘Made for This‘ recruiting campaign. The company seeks employees for a range of career paths from paraprofessionals (home health, hospice and support aides) to LPNs, RNs, therapists, and CNAs. Combined Company will be Leading Boutique Boxing Franchise with 166 Clubs and More than 65K Members and Digital Subscribers.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. and OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — BoxUnion, a California-based fitness boxing brand, announced today that it has acquired TITLE Boxing Club (TITLE), a fitness studio with 166 clubs across the United States, Mexico and the Dominican Republic specializing in boxing and kickboxing fitness classes. The transaction was backed by Kwanza Jones & José E. Feliciano SUPERCHARGED Initiative (KJSI), BoxUnion’s lead investor, plus other existing shareholders. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings together the best of both worlds, combining BoxUnion’s innovative programing with TITLE’s brand awareness. Founded in 2016 by Todd Wadler and Felicia Alexander, BoxUnion has experienced significant membership and subscriber growth due to its accessible, inventive and effective approach to boxing. This approach integrates music, mindfulness and community into a meticulously programmed class structure. In April of 2020, the brand launched BoxUnion Digital, which brings the BoxUnion in-studio class experience to subscribers anywhere in the world.

As a result of the acquisition, Wadler takes over as CEO and Alexander will continue in her role as the Chief Revenue Officer of the combined company. TITLE Boxing Club’s ownership team will remain equity holders in the new company and consists of two International Franchise Association (IFA) Entrepreneur of the Year recipients, three IFA chairpersons, and one IFA Hall of Famer. This includes a powerhouse of best-in-class franchise industry leaders including former CEO John Rotche, David Barr, Shelly Sun, Doc Cohen, and NFL superstar and future Hall of Famer Drew Brees. In addition, Rotche will continue to serve on the board of the combined company. Brooke Budke, who is currently TITLE Boxing Club’s Vice President of Marketing, will take over as President, Franchise System.

“TITLE Boxing Club is the biggest player in the fitness boxing and kickboxing category. Our goal is to triple the studio base while also providing a state-of-the-art, engaging digital experience to the at-home market,” said Wadler. “We are excited to bring together TITLE Boxing Club’s scale and brand awareness with BoxUnion’s culture of innovation to drive the first, true omni-channel fitness boxing offering to millions of consumers anytime, anywhere. I’m thrilled to partner with the TITLE Boxing Club team, the franchisees and all the partners within the TITLE Boxing Club brand as we embark on the next stage of growth.”

“As studio operators ourselves, Todd and I understand firsthand the impact this sport can have on building a local community and empowering people to throw a punch at the daily challenges life throws our way,” said Alexander. “Now more than ever, it is critical to provide an outlet for the stress millions of people are going through. We have members that have been outspoken about how BoxUnion has helped alleviate depression and build confidence. With more than 65,000 members and digital subscribers, the combined company will now be able to provide this experience to more people than ever.”

Wadler spent over 20 years in finance and co-founded Moelis & Company, a publicly traded, leading global independent investment bank and asset management firm. Passionate about fitness, he saw an opportunity to grow the market in fitness boxing. Alexander boasted a successful career as a sales and marketing executive for companies including Sun Microsystems, Sony, Mattel, and Demand Media. She is deeply passionate about boxing as a vehicle to change people’s lives, having put on gloves for the first time at 16 shortly after her father’s sudden death.

“The popularity of fitness boxing and kickboxing is growing rapidly. I set out on a deliberate path to find a promising boxing brand to accelerate our growth,” said Rotche. “Todd and Felicia’s collective dedication to revolutionizing the fitness boxing category make them the ideal new owners for TITLE Boxing Club and the optimal partner to our passionate franchisees. The two brands integrate seamlessly due to their commitment to the same core demographic and bringing the mental and physical benefits of boxing to all ages, genders, and experience levels.”

“You can expect us to expand our fitness offering with the added leadership of the BoxUnion team. Currently 81% of our locations are open and provide a safe, no-touch boxing workout for people looking to destress, get results, feel better, and gain confidence,” said Budke. “With demand for health and wellness at the highest it’s ever been, we have plans to expand into new markets, giving future franchisees an amazing opportunity to turn their passion into a profession. We adamantly believe in providing the most effective workout, in local communities and online. I look forward leading the charge for the next phase of growth in our franchise system.”

Kwanza Jones, co-founder of KJSI said, “We always look for opportunities to build mutually beneficial powerful partnerships. The BoxUnion and TITLE Boxing Club combination is just that. This investment aligns perfectly with two of KJSI’s focus areas: entrepreneurship and empowerment. Our franchisees are entrepreneurs and 70 percent of our consumers are women. We look forward to boosting opportunities for existing and new franchisees as they support our consumers on their health and fitness journey.”
