Sport Clips Haircuts Launches Annual “Help A Hero” Campaign to Raise $1.35 Million for Veteran Scholarships

2025-10-06T00:01:27-04:00October 6th, 2025|Tags: , , , , |

The initiative has awarded more than $15 million since 2013,  making it the largest program of its kind

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Sport Clips Haircuts launched its 2025 “Help A Hero” scholarship campaign today in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW). The campaign runs through Nov. 15 and aims to raise $1.35 million to fund the nation’s largest scholarship initiative of its kind for military veterans and service members.

During the promotion, anyone can support the scholarship program by donating during a Sport Clips visit. On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, participating Sport Clips locations will offer free haircuts to veterans and active-duty service members in what it considers the “biggest haircut day of the year” honoring veterans. More than 80 percent of the funds raised each year come directly from generous clients, with the balance coming from Sport Clips’ suppliers and product partners.

The VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program was established in 2013 as a direct response to the growing need for veteran education funding that extends beyond the benefits of the GI Bill. Since its inception in 2013, the program has awarded more than 3,350 scholarships totaling more than $15 million, providing vital educational assistance to veterans as they transition from military service to civilian careers.

“As an Air Force veteran, I know firsthand the challenges that come with transitioning from military to civilian life,” said Gordon Logan, founder and chairman of Sport Clips, and VFW Life member. “It is our privilege to stand beside those who have served our nation and, through Help A Hero Scholarships, ensure they have access to the resources needed to thrive beyond their military service.”

“Sport Clips’ annual Help A Hero campaign is a testament to the power of community, providing a life-changing opportunity for veterans transitioning to civilian life,” said VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore. “The Help A Hero Scholarship is a crucial lifeline, empowering them to earn a degree or skilled trade without the burden of student loans, ultimately helping them secure a successful career. The VFW is excited to show our support and open the door to better futures for thousands of veterans and their families.”

Help A Hero Scholarships provide up to $5,000 per semester to help cover tuition and fees. Veterans from all branches with a rank of E-5 and below are eligible, with funds sent directly to the educational institution of their choice. For more information or to apply for a scholarship, visit SportClips.com/Hero.

The 4 Spooky Dangers of Old Siding Every Homeowner Should Know This Fall

2025-10-04T14:50:42-04:00October 4th, 2025|Tags: , , |

Ideal Siding Experts Share How Fall Inspections Can Prevent “Scary” Surprises Like Rot, Water Damage, and Pests

VANCOUVER, BC — Aging or damaged siding can do more than harm curb appeal, it can conceal serious problems that put homes and families at risk. According to experts at Ideal Siding, North America’s largest siding renovation company, issues like mold, rot, pest infestations, and water infiltration are often discovered only after siding is removed, and the damage can be both costly and hazardous if left untreated.

“We’ve uncovered walls so deteriorated that framing literally crumbled in our hands, and entire sections eaten away by termites and carpenter ants,” said Alex Filipuk, CEO and Founder of Ideal Siding. “Many homeowners think they’re just updating for looks, but what’s underneath often reveals the true cost of delayed maintenance.”

Common Problems Hidden Behind Old Siding

  • Mold and Moisture Damage: Trapped water leads to musty odors, poor air quality, and respiratory risks for sensitive family members.
  • Wood Rot: Weakens structural supports and compromises safety.
  • Pests: Termites and ants can silently destroy framing until damage is severe.
  • Water Infiltration: Even a small gap or crack can allow water in, leading to widespread rot within a single season.

Warning Signs to Watch For

  • Warped or bubbling siding
  • Peeling paint inside the home
  • Persistent musty odors or unexplained drafts
  • Higher energy bills without a clear cause

“These may look like minor issues on the surface,” Filipuk explained, “but they often point to much larger problems behind the walls.”

Why Fall Is the Best Time for Inspection

Cooler, drier fall weather is ideal for addressing exterior issues before winter moisture and freezing conditions make them worse. Tackling repairs now not only safeguards the home but also prevents small, manageable fixes from escalating into tens of thousands of dollars in structural repairs.

With over 80 locations across the U.S. and Canada, Ideal Siding has seen firsthand the risks of delaying exterior maintenance. For more information about siding maintenance and replacement, visit www.idealsiding.com.

CertaPro Painters® Launches Seventh Paint it Pink Campaign

2025-10-04T14:44:46-04:00October 4th, 2025|Tags: , , |

Over $700,000 Raised for Breast Cancer Research

AUDUBON, Pa. — CertaPro Painters®, North America’s Most Referred Painting Company®, is launching its Paint it Pink campaign for the seventh consecutive year in partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and Breast Cancer Canada, to help raise money in support of breast cancer research. Since 2019, CertaPro’s Paint it Pink has raised over $700,000.

CertaPro Painters franchisees who participate in Paint it Pink will donate a percentage of every painting project completed between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30. The effort is further supported by local businesses and CertaPro corporate team members, who take part in fundraising activities such as step challenges and painting landmarks and businesses pink in their communities.

CertaPro aims to increase its donations every year, with a goal of achieving $165,000 during the months of October and November 2025. All donations will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Breast Cancer Canada. If CertaPro reaches its 2025 funding goal, its Paint it Pink campaign will support roughly 3,300 hours of research for BCRF, or the equivalent of 66 patients’ enrollment in a BCRF-supported clinical trial.

“The inspiration behind Paint it Pink came from a heartfelt journey of loss and a desire to make a difference,” said Mike Stone, president & CEO, CertaPro Painters. “At CertaPro we are committed to standing by those affected by breast cancer, including our employees and franchisees. Our Paint it Pink initiative embodies our dedication to community support and allows us to put our core values into action. We are proud to continue our support for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Breast Cancer Canada and their mission to work towards prevention and a cure for breast cancer.”

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation partners with The Pink Agenda on its FAB-U-WISH program, which grants special wishes to women undergoing or recently completing breast cancer treatment. Through CertaPro’s relationship with BCRF, home painting services were added to the list of wishes available. This year, CertaPro Painters of York, PA, helped transform the interior of Trisha Lane’s family home, bringing her space a renewed sense of joy and calm.

Lane stated, “Having my house painted means more than just a fresh coat of color—it feels like a renewal. It’s a reminder that even during hard times, my home can be a place of light, healing, and hope. It gives me a sense of comfort and pride every time I walk through the door. We are forever grateful for the CertaPro team, who not only took on this project but executed it perfectly, allowing us the foundation to build upon, so that we can create the home we always envisioned.”

Anyone can get involved in Paint it Pink by donating to support breast cancer research. Whether you’re a business, community member, or individual looking to make a difference, your contribution can help bring CertaPro one step closer to a cure.

2025-10-04T14:37:04-04:00October 4th, 2025|Tags: , , , |

Caring Senior Service of Canton owners open second Ohio office to extend their mission to provide quality care to more seniors

MEDINA, Ohio — Caring Senior Service, a non-medical, personalized home care services company, announced today that its Canton, Ohio, owners, Fred and Kathy Wallace and their son, Mitch Wallace, have opened their second location at 111 Stow Avenue, Suite 104 in Medina, Ohio.

“Our mission is a simple one,” Fred Wallace said. “We want to give seniors the ability to age in place safely, with dignity and with the support they need to thrive at home. We believe that every person deserves to remain in the place they love most, surrounded by familiar comforts and community connections. By providing dependable care and compassionate service, we’re helping families feel confident that their loved ones are not only cared for, but truly valued.”

The Wallaces started their journey to business ownership after taking care of Fred Wallace’s aging mother. Once she passed, the couple worked at a senior facility where they honed their caregiving skills.

After seeing the need for more in-home care services firsthand, the couple started their own private facility and ran it for several years before joining the Caring Senior Service team with their son, Mitch Wallace, to open the Canton location in 2023. The family is expanding their efforts as co-owners of the new Medina office.

“Over the past two years, the Canton location has grown quickly,” Kathy Wallace said. “We wanted to be able to offer the same level of personalized support to more clients throughout northern Ohio, so when the opportunity to open an office in Medina became available through the Caring network, we knew it was the perfect time to expand our resources and serve more seniors.”

The Wallace’s passion for helping others and their hands-on experience in caregiving made them a natural fit for Caring Senior Service. Their approach to care focuses on building trust, maintaining independence and creating meaningful relationships with clients and their families, values that closely align with the company’s mission.

“The Wallace family genuinely cares for every client they serve, and that kind of compassion is at the heart of what we do at Caring Senior Service,” said Jeff Salter, founder and CEO. “Their decision to expand into Medina shows their unwavering commitment to helping more seniors live healthy and happy lives at home. We’re confident their experience and passion will benefit countless families in their area.”

The Medina location will provide a full range of non-medical care services, including personal care, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, companionship and the company’s signature Tendio® Family Portal, which allows families to stay connected with caregivers and care plans in real time.

For more information about Caring Senior Service of Medina, call (330) 862-8310 or visit https://caringseniorservice.com/medina/.
