Research ahead of time when booking activities to ensure the places you plan to visit are accessible, especially for those who have trouble navigating stairs or narrow places. Large crowds, excessive noise and stimulation can also be tough to handle, so think about their vision and hearing capabilities and plan activities that everyone can enjoy and access.
  • Build in breaks. Riding in the car can be hard on seniors’ backs and hips. Plan on periodic stops – including bathroom visits – and break up the travel as much as possible. Plenty of water and snacks will help as well. While travelers typically want to see as many sights and activities as they can, be realistic about your group’s time and abilities. Seniors most likely require a slower pace that won’t overwhelm them with too much walking or activity.
  • Give packing assistance. Seniors may have difficulty picking weather-appropriate clothing or remembering everything that should be on their list. Make that list together and help them choose outfits that are both appropriate and comfortable. Layers are always a good idea in case they get cold or hot.
  • Remember the medications. Bring enough medication for the trip and a few days extra in case of delays, and pack in a carry-on rather than checked luggage. To avoid confusion, it’s best to leave medications in their original packaging. It is also a good idea to keep a list of important medical information, including proper documentation for medication and any health conditions your loved one may have. If they need to go to an urgent care or hospital, you want to have necessary information readily available.
  • Ask for their input in planning. Ask your senior what they want to do and what they think they can reasonably handle. Cruises and tours have a lot of appeal because they offer many pre-planned options for all ages. You can work out any accessibility needs or special considerations ahead of time, and you may also be able to pick and choose from different activities to create a schedule that works for everyone.

Local Entrepreneur Ready to Light Port Charlotte Community with New Blingle! Franchise

A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Dunivan’s career began with serving eight years in the Marine Corps before going back to school, ultimately earning a degree in Business Administration and Information Technology from University of Missouri-Kansas City. Upon graduation, he began his corporate journey in IT consulting, first with Sprint then with T-Mobile. After spending 23 years of his career in Kansas City, Dunivan found his way back to Southwest Florida in 2020.

Following his 25-year career in IT, he was ready to be his own boss. He began working with an entrepreneurial coach who matched his personality to execute and get things done with a variety of brands. MY SALON Suite Names Susan Boresow as Brand President

CARROLLTON, Texas — Propelled Brands, the parent company of Suite Management Franchising (SMF), the franchisor of MY SALON Suite®, a salon suite franchise that focuses on providing hairstylists and beauty professionals a personal space to build their independent businesses and be their own boss, has named Susan Boresow as President.

With 35+ years of experience, Susan has broad experience in franchising, operations, marketing, brand stewardship and leadership and has been integral to the growth of several companies. Susan joined Propelled Brands on May 28.  Prior to joining Propelled Brands, Boresow held executive positions and was a franchising subject matter expert for some of the best-loved and most-recognized brands including Massage Heights, TITLE Boxing Club, Massage Envy, Pump It Up/Bounce U, Sports Clips, Coldstone Creamery, Godfather’s Pizza, and McDonalds.  She is known for providing business strategies and financial due diligence to help franchisees achieve operational excellence aligned with company mission, values, and goals. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and a Masters in Marketing.

In her current role as brand president, Boresow will be responsible for increasing franchisee profitability through effective leadership, innovation, new revenue streams, and operational efficiencies, as well as driving growth in the number of franchise locations.  She will focus on franchisee/franchisor collaboration, sharing best practices, optimizing processes, increasing franchisee profitability and satisfaction as well as deepening customer relationships to bring the brand promise to life.
