Franchisor reacts to rising home remodeling needs

Garage Living opens five more franchise locations to match demand. 

TORONTO — The number of U.S. homes that have reached the age at which they typically need renovations — between 20 and 39 years old — may increase to about 24.2 million in 2027, up from 20.5 million in 2018, according to an industry report from the National Kitchen & Bath Association. This means lots of bathrooms, kitchens, and garages need remodeling.

To accommodate, one of North America’s largest garage renovation companies is expanding. Garage Living opened five new franchise locations this summer, bringing their total franchise count to 37 sites in the U.S. and 44 overall, including locations in Canada.

With Uptown and Historic South End routes growing in popularity, an additional party bike will hit the streets. 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Launched in 2021 and voted Charlotte’s Best Attraction in things to do by the Charlotte Observer in 2022, Pedal Pub Charlotte continues to grow. In September, they’ll add a third 16-seat party bike to their fleet, offering more opportunities to experience a fun-filled tour of the city.

Pedal Pub Charlotte debuted as North Carolina residents began to come out of pandemic-related shutdowns with an increasing desire for experiences with friends, families and coworkers. The company hasn’t looked back.

Top Rail Fence Memphis Celebrates Grand Opening at Vesta Home Show Vendor Days

Local owners want to make professionalism in contracting a priority. 

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Top Rail Fence, the on-time professionals in fence design, quality installation and service, will celebrate the grand opening of its Memphis location at the West Tennessee Home Builders Association’s Vesta Home Show Vendor Days on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the association’s Collierville, Tennessee office.

“We’re very excited to take this leap into entrepreneurship and want to share our grand opening with local builders,” said Top Rail Fence Memphis co-owner Jack Shannon. “I was born and raised in Memphis, and I have wanted to open a professional and responsible fence contracting company in the area for some time. Showcasing our new fencing company to area contractors at this event is a great way to get started.”

Shannon and his consultant, Adam Hatley, another Memphis native, are determined to ensure that customers will no longer have poor experiences when hiring a property service provider.

“Customer service seems to be lacking throughout the contracting industry,” Hatley said. “We have seen and heard stories of someone hiring a contractor that does not show up or only completes half of the job. Shannon has roots in the contracting industry. His family owned and operated a lumber company in the Memphis area for decades.

“I started working with my father when I was 14,” Shannon said. “I’m hoping to pass Top Rail Fence down to my own son if that is what he chooses to do. It’d be great to create a legacy in the area while getting the opportunity to be my own boss.”
