Budget Blinds Leads Industry in Child Safety in Compliance with National Window Covering Safety Standard

2024-05-12T19:10:01-04:00May 12th, 2024|Tags: , , , |

– The brand, a pioneer in ensuring safety, continues to offer cordless and motorized products for its customers and their families –

IRVINE, Calif. — Budget Blinds, the top window covering franchise in North America, announces its continued commitment to safety and compliance with the latest U.S. regulations governing window covering standards. Effective June 1, 2024, all window covering products sold in the U.S. must be cordless or have inaccessible cords, as per the updated voluntary window covering safety standard by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The new regulations, which include the elimination of free hanging operating cords, free hanging tilt cords, multiple cord connectors, and enhanced tension device requirements, are aimed at enhancing safety for people and families across the nation. With a wide selection of cordless and motorized product offerings in their portfolio for many years, Budget Blinds has long been at the forefront of ensuring products meet and exceed safety standards, and this commitment remains unwavering.

Further demonstrating their leadership in providing the safest products on the market to their customers, Budget Blinds has launched new products that further coincide with the new standard, including a new Basic’s motor offered through their Smart Home Collection, new cordless lift systems and exclusive fabrics and collections.

“Budget Blinds has always prioritized the safety of our customers, and as the window covering industry evolves, we continue to lead by offering new and exclusive designs, innovations and family-safe options,” said Tracy Christman, EVP of Product Strategy and Management at Budget Blinds. “Aligning safety with style, our cordless and motorized selections provide peace of mind through beautiful window coverings. Additionally, our array of automated products developed with Smart Home Technology integrate with Amazon Alexa, Google Nest and other voice activation systems. This means we’re able to provide customers with safe, convenient and stylish options that make their home their very own.”

To support compliance with the latest regulations, Budget Blinds is providing retrofitting solutions for some existing products to make them motorized. Understanding that some customers may still require corded window coverings due to specific needs, such as accessibility for the elderly, those with disabilities or for use in commercial buildings, corded products will still be available as custom-order options, utilizing retractable cord or continuous cord loop operating systems with enhanced tension devices.

Budget Blinds remains at the forefront of the industry, offering a wide range of innovative and stylish window-covering solutions. With the implementation of these new regulations, customers can rest assured that Budget Blinds’ products not only enhance the aesthetics of their homes but also prioritize the safety of their loved ones.

Annual meeting theme reflects system growth through enhanced support of brand’s primary audiences

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The annual Sport Clips Haircuts National Huddle proved to be a game changer this year for franchisees, stylists, and clients as the brand continues to focus on growth and support. CEO and President Edward Logan addressed the crowd of more than 3,000 team members from across the U.S. and Canada, casting a vision of accelerated growth through brand experience for clients, store owners, and stylists.

“Sport Clips has been a leader in men’s and boys’ hair care for more than 30 years, and this year we are taking it to the next level by providing even more support for franchisees and stylists,” says Logan. “Haircare visits and staffing are returning to pre-pandemic levels. So, we’re ramping up the ways we serve new and loyal clients, store owners who are thriving in their local communities, and the professional stylists who choose Sport Clips for their careers. This year is going to be a true game-changer for our brand.”

The true benefit of Huddle, Logan noted, is the opportunity it provides for stylists and owners to come together to support each other, learn from one another, and celebrate individual, store, and overall brand achievements.

Key highlights from the Huddle include:

  • Sport Clips continues to innovate, using technology to improve client experiences and provide robust data for franchisees, supporting local store performance and growth.

  • With the return of a stronger economic climate, Sport Clips is experiencing a surge in growth and interest from potential franchisees from various business sectors as well as stylists who pursue a career path that includes becoming franchise owners.
  • The brand continues to give back through its Haircuts with Heart charitable partnerships, with $14 million raised to provide 2,900 scholarships for the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program; $3.5 million donated to St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund childhood cancer research; thousands of volunteer hours to facilitate 6,500 flights for senior veterans with Dream Flights; and some $300,000 annually in free haircut coupons for American Red Cross blood donors.
  • Through its Eric Gozur-Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund, Sport Clips has provided $5.7 million in funds to 1,100 team members in need.

Logan says of these highlights, “Technological advancements and championing our franchisees and stylists by focusing on the fundamentals of our mission to provide clients a ‘championship haircut experience in an exciting sports environment,’ demonstrate Sport Clips’ commitment to being a game changer in the industry.”

Dogtopia Regional Manager Embarks on 101-Mile Run to Raise $60,000 for the Training of Service Dogs for Veterans This Memorial Day Weekend

2024-05-12T18:47:20-04:00May 12th, 2024|Tags: , , , |

Jordan Cerrillo Will Run from Eau Claire, WI, to Woodbury, MN, in Support of Dogtopia Foundation; Joined by Retired CSM Gretchen Evans for Final Leg

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Minnesota man is embarking on a monumental feat to make a positive impact on veterans over Memorial Day Weekend. Starting at 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, Jordan Cerrillo, Regional Manager for Dogtopia in Eau Claire, WI, and Woodbury, MN, will run 101 miles from one daycare to the other to raise $60,000 for the Dogtopia Foundation. The Dogtopia Foundation is on a mission to enable dogs to positively change our world by supporting programs focused on three key pillars: service dogs for veterans, therapy dogs for students, and employment initiatives for adults with autism.

Cerrillo’s long-distance run from Dogtopia Eau Claire to Dogtopia Woodbury is dedicated to raising funds to provide service dogs to veterans in need. Cerrillo’s goal of $60,000 will help support the training of 10 life-saving canines. Donations can be made here.

“The Dogtopia Foundation, Dogtopia daycares, and all Dogtopians across the country are proud to support Jordan on his ultra-marathon run, which will provide several veterans in need with a life-saving service dog,” said Neil Gill, CEO and President of Dogtopia. “Jordan’s determination, grit, compassion, and mission to make the world a brighter place embody everything we stand for as an organization, and we will be cheering him on the entire way.”

For the final 10 miles of his run, Cerrillo will be joined by retired Command Sergeant Major Gretchen Evans, a Dogtopia Foundation ambassador whose journey of resilience and recovery serves as the inspiration behind this ambitious fundraiser. After enduring life-threatening injuries in service in Afghanistan, Evans found solace and strength in the companionship of service dogs. Her celebrated story, recognized with the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2022 ESPYs, continues to inspire countless individuals to live with purpose and resilience.

“I am fortunate enough to have a pretty amazing ‘why’ that will fuel me for this run,” said Cerrillo. “Hearing Gretchen tell her story at the Dogtopia Conference in 2022 sparked an immense amount of pride to be part of a franchise that helped impact our veterans in an incredible way. I have many family members who have or are currently serving our country, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to honor and give back to veterans that have sacrificed and done so much for us.”

If you are interested in cheering for Jordan, he will depart from Dogtopia of Eau Claire in Wisconsin at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, and hopes to arrive at Dogtopia of Woodbury in Minnesota around 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The Elements Massage Brand Inks Largest Domestic Agreement in its History

2024-05-11T21:25:29-04:00May 11th, 2024|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Leading Wellness-Based Massage Concept Bolsters Footprint Across Utah and Colorado Through Massive Deal

DENVER — The Elements Massage® brand, the nation’s leading massage therapy concept where every session is personalized to meet clients’ needs, recently signed its largest area double-digit unit development agreement to be developed across Utah and Colorado.

The agreement was inked with an established franchise operating group within the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) space, who own and operate restaurants across the country, in addition to its other business ventures. This is their first venture into the wellness space and marks a significant milestone for the Elements Massage brand during a pivotal era of growth, highlighting its appeal for established multi-brand operators looking to diversify their portfolios.

“There are numerous concepts in the wellness space and the ability of the Elements Massage brand to stand out from the competition through its unique approach to massage therapy immediately stuck out to us,” said a senior executive from the group. “With a robust model that appeals to owners and clients alike, we felt that the Elements Massage brand was the perfect brand to diversify from our other business channels. The brand sets itself apart in the industry with its personalized holistic massage therapy and we can’t wait to play a part in its continued growth.”

Through this agreement, the group will be acquiring eight existing Elements Massage studios in Utah and Colorado while also adding 14 new studios across those markets as well.

“What attracted us to the WellBiz Brands portfolio are its people-centric business models and a common technology stack that’s offered across the five brands. This will pave additional avenues for growth for us in the future with the WellBiz Brands portfolio,” a senior executive from the group said.

The group noted that in addition to the common tech stack, the growth trajectory of the massage and wellness space in the United States made the investment very appealing, as consumers are surging more of their discretionary income toward self-care services.

“We’re thrilled to have this powerhouse franchise group join the Elements Massage brand as we continue expanding across the nation,” said Kelli Schroeder, VP of Franchise Development with WellBiz Brands. “As we enter this pivotal time for the brand, growing the franchise network with experienced, sophisticated operators that share the same passion for wellness and a deep understanding of how to deliver an amazing client experience is crucial. We’re honored to be the wellness franchise of choice for this group and look forward to their expansion.”

Founded by a massage therapist, the fundamental core of the Elements Massage brand is to provide a truly customized therapeutic experience to every client, in every session. With a small footprint, a successful membership-based business model for entrepreneurs, the brand is positioned as a leader in its category and attracts seasoned operating groups. The Elements Massage brand currently has nearly 250 studios open and is gearing up for strategic expansion amid a new era of nationwide growth.

The Paramedics of Property Damage Team Up for Nationwide Teacher Supplies Drive

TAMARAC, Fla. — PuroClean, one of the country’s leading property restoration and remediation franchises, has unveiled its summer campaign, Adopt-a-Classroom, to show its appreciation for educators. Franchisees across the country and the home office team in South Florida will collect donations for teachers. The campaign will start on May 6 across the country in recognition of National Teacher Appreciation Week and will continue throughout the summer. The donations will be presented to teachers across America in August.

Multiple surveys, including one by the U.S. Department of Education, show that 94 percent of teachers pay for classroom necessities with money from their own pockets. PuroClean’s Adopt-a-Classroom Campaign aims to give back to the people who give back to students year-round.

“It is hard to find the right words to convey how crucial teachers and educators are in our communities. They do some of the most important work in the world for our children,” Alex Pericchi, Vice President of Marketing and Online Learning, said. “It is the duty and mission of our entire network to showcase to teachers that we see their hard work and value them. We want to show them that PuroClean cares.”

Throughout the summer, PuroClean offices across the country are accepting teacher supplies such as:

  • Binders
  • Electric pencil sharpeners
  • Dry-erase boards
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper

Donations can be dropped off in designated boxes at participating PuroClean locations and will be given to the local school or teacher that the franchisee has chosen to recognize.

“Supporting educators isn’t just a one-time act of gratitude; it’s a direct investment in our children and the future leaders of our communities,” said Steve White, President and COO of PuroClean. “The most important mission for PuroClean is to serve our communities and invest in the people who invested in us. Service and giving back are the values that this company was founded on. Everyone at PuroClean has a part to play.”

For more than 20 years, PuroClean has helped home and business owners with their restoration and remediation needs, serving communities across the United States and Canada with a network nearing 500 offices.

2024-05-10T11:01:35-04:00May 10th, 2024|Tags: , , |

The Company continues to make advancements toward delivering high-quality food responsibly, creating more equitable and inclusive workplaces and reducing emissions across Company operations and franchise restaurants

DUBLIN, Ohio — The Wendy’s Company released its 2023 Corporate Responsibility report today, highlighting continued progress against Good Done Right, the Company’s corporate responsibility strategy. In the report, Wendy’s® details progress the Company has made across initiatives focused on responsible sourcing, fostering equitable workplaces and communities, and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from restaurant operations and the supply chain. In 2023, Wendy’s also strengthened stakeholder collaboration – a key ingredient to advancements across its Food, People and Footprint pillars – particularly with franchisees and direct and indirect suppliers.

“Our Good Done Right strategy is backed by action— from sourcing our quality ingredients responsibly to engaging and making a positive difference in our communities,” said Chief Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Officer, Liliana Esposito. “We are deliberate about gaining greater visibility into our supply chain, making measurable progress against our goals and transparently sharing the results of our efforts – all possible thanks to the commitment and collaboration of our employees, franchisees and industry partners.”

Wendy’s 2023 Corporate Responsibility report demonstrates progress against the Company’s Good Done Right goals and includes the following highlights.

Food – Delivering high-quality food responsibly and transparently:

  • Evaluated 26 of our suppliers with whom we directly do business under Wendy’s Animal Care Standards Program for animal welfare best practices. We also extended the program deeper into our protein supply chain, driving greater visibility into an extended supply chain that includes more than 20,000 farms, ranches and facilities.
  • Invited 100% of suppliers in scope for our responsible sourcing program to enroll in our self-assessment platform, which helps the Company better understand and track supplier performance on key environmental, social and governance metrics.
  • Aligned with the U.S. Roundtable for Responsible Beef’s retail sector targets for air and GHG emissions, conservation of natural resources and more.
  • Completed more than 12,000 global Food Safety Assessments at Wendy’s restaurants in partnership with EcoSure®, a division of Ecolab®.

People – Fostering more equitable workplaces and communities:

  • Increased the diversity of representation among senior leadership at the Company and received recognition in the U.S. and Canada for industry-leading franchisee support and training as the Wendy’s System continues to grow across the globe.
  • Raised more than $27 million for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, including record support during the annual Frosty® Boo! Books® campaign, which raised an unprecedented $9.2 million across the Wendy’s System.
  • Supported Company employees by hosting more than 40 Employee Resource Group events and implementing a new Human Capital Management System to enable greater automation and self-service, while also simplifying business processes.

Footprint – Delivering more with less environmental impact:

  • Decreased Company GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 26%, and franchisee emissions by 11% per restaurant (Scope 3) – both compared to 2019 levels.
  • More than doubled the number of franchisees reporting through Wendy’s Energy Challenge, with 37 franchisees reporting energy data* in 2023, up from 18 franchisees reporting data* in 2022. More than 2,700 franchise-operated restaurants are participating in WEC as of the end of 2023.
  • Initiated a deforestation risk assessment to prepare for measuring and managing forestry, land and agriculture (FLAG) related emissions.

Wendy’s recognizes leading reporting industry standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strives to embed their principles and frameworks throughout the Company’s report.
