MY SALON Suite raises a record $120,000 in one month to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

2021-11-02T08:02:25-04:00November 2nd, 2021|Tags: , , , |

CARROLLTON, Texas — MY SALON Suite set a company fundraising record in September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month raising more than $120,000 through the company’s Suite Relief Fund™, for the benefit of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® as well as company employees.

The salon suite franchise set an initial goal of raising $35,000, but surpassed that amount through the generous donations from clients, Members, Franchise Partners, vendors and the Suite Management Franchising team. Because of generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

“It’s truly gratifying to see our team exceed our fundraising goals each year. The amount of money that we raised in just one month for St. Jude, an organization that has saved so many lives, is more than what we raised in each of the three previous years,” said Ken McAllister, the co-founder, and CEO of MY SALON Suite. “It’s the desire of our community to go beyond our walls to make the world a little brighter, and we plan to keep expanding our efforts and making a difference.”

Suite Management Franchising, the parent company of MY SALON Suite and Salon Plaza, started its partnership with St. Jude in 2018 when it launched the Suite Relief Fund™. Since the inception of the partnership, the Suite Relief Fund has contributed $250,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Continued support helps fuel the St. Jude $11.5 billion, six-year strategic plan, which includes tripling its global investment to impact the more than 400,000 kids with cancer around the world each year.

Additionally, in August, The Suite Relief Fund distributed $52,500 to MY SALON Suite members in New Orleans who were impacted by Hurricane Ida through a partnership with the PBA’s Disaster Relief Fund.

MY SALON Suite is a salon suite franchise that focuses on providing stylists and beauticians a personal space to build their business. They decorate their suite, use their own branding, set their hours, prices, and manage their own client lists and business. In addition, the MY SALON Suite franchise owners serve as landlords who recruit and rent space to health and beauty professionals.

In June 2021, Suite Management Franchising, LLC, the parent company of MY SALON Suite and Salon Plaza, was acquired by Propelled Brands. Propelled Brands is using its unparalleled resources, support, and training to accelerate growth and expand Suite Management Franchising’s footprint across the country.

Pet Supplies Plus and Natural Balance® Partner to Donate $50,000 to Patriot PAWS in Honor of Veterans Day

2021-11-02T07:50:33-04:00November 2nd, 2021|Tags: , , , |

America’s Favorite Neighborhood Pet Store and Premium Pet Food Maker Help Provide Service Dogs to Deserving Veterans.

FORNEY, Texas — Pet Supplies Plus, the nation’s leading pet retail franchise has once again joined forces with Natural Balance® to raise awareness about the profound impact Service Dogs have on America’s servicemen and women. As a result of this continued national partnership, Natural Balance and Pet Supplies Plus have donated $50,000 to Patriot PAWS Service Dogs, a non-profit that trains and provides Service Dogs for disabled Veterans, at no cost. Pet Supplies Plus in Forney will host a check presentation on November 9th at 10 a.m.

Throughout November, the purchase of any Natural Balance product at all of the 590+ Pet Supplies Plus locations help to support the $50,000 donation to Patriot PAWS. This donation will help provide Service Dogs, at no cost, to disabled American Veterans with mobile disabilities to help restore and maintain their physical and emotional independence.

“As a company, it’s an honor to continue our partnership with Natural Balance and Patriot PAWS once again,” said Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus. “The impact that a Service Dog can have on a disabled Veteran is life changing and we hope that this donation will help Patriot PAWS continue their mission. Our neighbors truly care about donating to worthy causes like Patriot PAWS and we thank them for allowing us to make this donation possible to commemorate Veterans Day.”

The check presentation at the Forney Pet Supplies Plus, located at 471 Marketplace Blvd #100, Forney, TX will take place on November 9 at 10 a.m. CST. Local U.S. Army Veteran, Zac Tyler will be on-site at the event with the Service Dog he was matched with from Patriot PAWS Service Dogs this past summer. Zac Tyler of AR served in the United States Army Infantry as well as Army National Guard attaining the rank of Corporal. Zac served a total of 7 years.

“For over 10 years now, we’ve partnered with Pet Supplies Plus to bring awareness to Patriot PAWS and their amazing organization in honor of Veterans Day,” said Darcy Hagan, Vice President of Sales, Natural Balance. “We are always looking for ways to give back and this donation helps Patriot PAWS continue their incredible work of providing American servicemen and women with the invaluable gift of a Service Dog.”

While the positive impact of Service Dogs on the wellbeing of Veterans is widely known, many are unaware of the immense costs associated with training a Service Dog, which is around $35,000 per dog. Patriot PAWS aims to eliminate this cost for the Veteran with the help of their donors, volunteers, and training programs. On top of the existing demand, countless studies indicate the devastating impact of the pandemic, alone, has on the emotional and physical health of the nation, including American Veterans – making Patriot PAWS’ services that much more essential.

Founded in 2006 by professional dog trainer, Lori Stevens, Patriot PAWS aims to train and place Service Dogs with disabled Veterans. Since 2015, Patriot PAWS has placed 293 total teams with Veterans and others with mobile disabilities. Currently, they have 85 Service Dogs in training. Patriot PAWS can house up to 25 Service Dogs at their Rockwall Campus and the rest dispersed throughout their various programs, which include the Texas A&M Student Led Puppy Raiser Program, their local DFW Puppy Raiser Program, and their partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where inmates in three local prisons train Service Dogs. The organization continues to remain focused on their mission, and with the help of Pet Supplies Plus and Natural Balance, expects to be able to make a handful of additional placements by the end of the year.

“The funds raised from the partnership between Pet Supplies Plus and Natural Balance will allow us to continue our mission to help provide our disabled American Veterans with a Patriot PAWS Service Dogs,” said, Patriot PAWS Founder Lori Stevens. “Donations like these allow our organization to remain at no-cost to those who receive the gift of a Service Dog.”

Pet Supplies Plus offers a wide array of natural pet foods and a variety of made-in-the-USA pet consumables, including food, treats, rawhide and chews. Set in welcoming neighborhood environments, Pet Supplies Plus team members get to know their neighbors and pets by name at every store. Interim HealthCare Launches National Home Care & Hospice Month Campaign, “The Difference is Home”

2021-10-27T15:07:48-04:00October 27th, 2021|Tags: , , , , |

Interim HealthCare raises awareness for the power of home healthcare to help connect more individuals with the unique benefits it provides.

SUNRISE, Fla. Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health, hospice and healthcare staffing services, today announced the launch of “The Difference is Home,” a campaign to showcase the unique benefits and full continuum of available home healthcare services.

Sharing Why Healthcare is Better at Home

Coinciding with November’s Home Care & Hospice Month, “The Difference is Home” aims to educate people on the power of home healthcare. Offering a full continuum of care, home healthcare includes pediatric, adult skilled nursing, senior care, postoperative care, Medicare-certified care, and hospice, allowing for an individualized approach focused on empowerment and the pursuit of possibilities rather than perceived limitations. The home is where patient care can happen in the most personal way, typically resulting in a higher quality of care, reduced hospital readmissions and better optimization of healthcare dollars, improved health outcomes, and greater patient satisfaction.

As part of the national monthlong campaign, Interim HealthCare is featuring the real-life experiences of five home healthcare stakeholders who have been profoundly impacted by the power of home healthcare:

  • Josie B., Adult Skilled Nursing Client (Wampum, P.A.) – Admitted in 1984, Josie has been supported by home healthcare since she was six months old after being born with a disability. Growing up, her nurses went with her to school, on camping trips and to college where she lived in the dorms. Today, Josie’s nurses help with her ventilator and trach, along with other complex medical care services and everyday needs as she runs a successful consulting business and helps advocate for others with disabilities. Home healthcare has made all the difference for Josie, allowing her to grow up in a loving home environment, achieve her dreams and thrive in life.
  • Kaitlyn M., Pediatric Care Patient (Verona, P.A.) – Born with Agenesis of corpus callosum, which causes seizures and severe developmental delay, Kaitlyn is required to have a feeding tube and total nursing care. She has received home healthcare for the past 16 years. While Kaitlyn doesn’t speak or walk, she is happy and surrounded by a loving family and nurses who adore her and closely monitor her condition. Home healthcare has allowed Kaitlyn to live at home with her family while receiving pediatric care, which has significantly improved her quality of life.
  • John C., Senior Care Client (Salina, K.S.) – A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam, John started home health services in April 2021. John’s aide makes in-home visits three times a week to support his mobility through exercise, which has led to great improvements in his health. John also started attending Interim HealthCare’s monthly Vet-to-Vet cafe which allows him to engage with other veterans and promotes socializing. Home healthcare has enabled John to regain his freedom, properly care for his COPD and embrace life again.
  • Louis K., COVID-19 Recovery Patient (Summerville, S.C.) – After spending four days in the hospital with COVID-19 in early September, Louis was discharged into home health services as part of the benefits available to him as a Medicare recipient. Prior to becoming ill with COVID-19, Louis was an active 85-year-old who played golf once a week. The focused nursing care, physical therapy and occupational therapy he receives has helped him improve significantly in a matter of weeks and he is on track for a full recovery without the need for rehospitalization.
  • Howard and Charlene R., Hospice Patients (Grand Rapids, M.I.) Married for 68 years, Howard and Charlene have had many wonderful life experiences and wanted to continue living with a quality of life as they aged. After receiving home health services, Charlene and Howard both transitioned to hospice care in August due to declining health. The nursing, therapy and aide care that hospice provides have allowed Howard and Charlene to stay in their home, surrounded by loved ones, where they can make the most of this treasured time together.

To learn more about these stories and the difference home healthcare has made in their lives, visit: https://differenceishome.com/home-care-hospice-stories/.

Additionally, to better understand the underlying motivations and perceptions around home healthcare, Interim HealthCare commissioned The Harris Poll to survey Americans on their knowledge of home healthcare services. The study was designed to help encourage increased understanding and appreciation of what home healthcare can deliver in terms of healthcare outcomes, value-for-healthcare dollars, and consumer preferences. A separate announcement on the findings of the nationwide study will be released in the coming days.

Celebrating a Community of Care

In addition to highlighting what sets home-based care apart, Interim HealthCare invites stakeholders to understand and appreciate the tireless helping hands behind the scenes of these inspiring stories who often go unrecognized: the community of care that makes it possible. From home health professionals and paraprofessionals who provide care and the certified agencies who employ and support them, to physicians, discharge planners, and social workers who guide the journeys to support their outcomes and the payors that reimburse this invaluable service, there is an entire community of care that keeps the home healthcare industry thriving.

In honor of Home Care and Hospice Month, Interim HealthCare invites the public to express gratitude for the community of care that makes home healthcare so extraordinary by participating in the campaign’s Wall of Inspiration, which will showcase the moving stories of those who have been impacted by home healthcare.

Visit the 2021 Home Care & Hospice Month Wall of Inspiration here: https://differenceishome.com/wall-of-inspiration/.

“For those of us long ingrained in home healthcare, we see every day the difference home-based care has on clients and their quality of life,” said Jennifer Sheets, Interim HealthCare Inc. president and CEO. “What the last two years have taught us is that the home is where outcomes are better and where people truly want to be. Throughout our monthlong celebration, we will further elevate these messages to communities that can benefit most from home healthcare’s services, and especially honor and recognize the sacrifice of the thousands of clinicians, aides, and caregivers who facilitate these invaluable services.”

Among other features of the campaign are ways to engage consumers with educating content and fun giveaways that reinforce the difference home makes. For example, there are giveaway opportunities of MyndVR virtual reality headsets, which are specifically designed to connect patients and seniors with memories and the world outside from the comfort of their homes. Also tucked into the month is Home Care Aide Week, November 7-13, to honor and celebrate the indispensable role aides play in supporting the activities of daily living for so many Americans, ensuring their ability to heal and age in place. Home care aides will have a chance to win daily giveaways which include $125 gift cards to Home Chef, $50 gift cards for allheart gear, the nation’s leading online supplier of medical apparel and personal diagnostic equipment, and access to free educational webinars.

Deka Lash Unveils MegaVolume — More Volume Than Ever Before

2021-10-27T14:53:30-04:00October 27th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

PITTSBURGH — Leading international franchise Deka Lash is launching its newest service, MegaVolume, the company’s most dramatic and boldest lash look yet.

Deka Lash is known for taking an innovative and consumer-led approach to its beauty services. Since launching Brow Lamination in 2020, its first ever brow service, Deka Lash began designing its newest signature lash look based entirely on client feedback. The feedback was simple: more volume and more density than any other traditional services. The result is MegaVolume.

“We couldn’t be more excited for the launch of MegaVolume,” says Jennifer Blair, Founder and co-CEO of Deka Lash. “The look and feel is really unique. It creates a maximum lash density while still maintaining a natural look. It really sets a new standard for those customers wanting that fuller, more dramatic look while also feeling comfortable wearing it every day.”

MegaVolume lashes have at least double the amount of lashes than standard Volume lash services, thereby ensuring a darker, denser look. However, while MegaVolume is definitely bold, the lashes themselves are extremely lightweight to wear.

“I was really excited about trying something that gives more volume than the normal TrueVolume service that I typically have done,” shares Ana, a Deka Lash client in Pittsburgh, PA. “They definitely give a more voluminous look but manage to do so without feeling heavy. The MegaVolume lashes, despite the name, are super light along my lash line. They also lasted a lot longer than what I normally get because the MegaVolume lashes give me fuller, denser coverage. Even when I lose a lash, I’m not worried about gaps”.

MegaVolume launches in all Deka Lash studios beginning November 12, 2021.

About Deka Lash

Deka Lash was founded in 2011 by Jennifer and Michael Blair, with the vision to create everyday confidence through beautiful lashes that are affordable and accessible to everyone. Deka Lash Studios are modern retail salons which apply semi-permanent, custom eyelash extensions by highly trained lash artists, providing a variety of looks and styles. The concept began franchising in 2016 and to date operates in 28 US States and Internationally in Canada. In 2021, Deka Lash earned the rank of #4 on Entrepreneur Magazine’s top new franchise.

Interim HealthCare Inc. Launches HomeLife Enrichment® for Heart Failure

2021-10-21T13:33:20-04:00October 21st, 2021|Tags: , , , , |

Helping to mitigate the nation’s leading chronic condition, Interim HealthCare unveils empowering, proprietary approach to holistic care for those with heart failure.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health and hospice and healthcare staffing services, is launching the latest offering in its HomeLife Enrichment® series focused on the chronic condition of heart failure. Interim HealthCare’s program supports the patient holistically for their mind, body, spirit and family to ensure an optimal care experience.

As an extension of the doctor’s office, this proprietary standard of care empowers the newly diagnosed person living with heart failure and their loved ones with valuable information about the impact diet, exercise, rest and medication play in the care process. Additionally, this approach stresses the importance of measuring weight and reporting increases daily and recognizing the signs of depression, especially when the diagnosis of heart failure is new.

Currently, more than six million people in the U.S. have heart failure and one in five people will develop it in their lifetime. Heart failure is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S. Often misunderstood, heart failure does not actually mean the heart has failed; it means that the heart cannot pump as it should and therefore is failing to meet the body’s needs for oxygen and blood circulation.

“Home healthcare professionals are uniquely suited to provide personal and comprehensive care to help support the millions of Americans living with heart failure,” said Jennifer Sheets, Interim HealthCare Inc. president and CEO. “By working side-by-side with the individual, their loved ones and their full care teams, Interim HealthCare creates a holistic approach to support their mind, body, sprit and family. This approach ultimately helps them on a path toward self-care to manage their condition and live a healthier, fulfilling life.”

A key element of Interim HealthCare’s HomeLife Enrichment for Heart Failure program is its new resource, “Caring for a Loved one with Heart Failure” (caregiver guide). The caregiver guide educates family members about heart failure and provides a deeper understanding of the disease and the care protocols to manage it and move their loved ones towards successful self-care, which is the ultimate goal.

The caregiver guide equips families with the tools and insights needed to care for the whole individual, not just one facet of their disease management. This approach provides a holistic view of heart failure and how interconnected each aspect is with big-picture outcomes. Through exploration of the care process, families will understand what their loved one needs and how best to care for them in ways that improve mental, emotional and physical health:

  • Mind: Caring for the mind involves insight and understanding about heart failure which leads to producing new habits that positively impact outcomes. As the heart’s function is vital to the health of the whole body, it can create other serious health problems if it is not brought under control.
  • Body: Perhaps the hardest change a person with heart failure must make is to their diet. Caring for the body involves a combination of diet, medication, exercise and rest, and is a crucial part of managing heart failure and minimizing other serious and associated health risks. With heart failure, comes issues with weight gain caused by fluid buildup, it is critical that those living with heart failure are monitoring their weight daily and reporting weight gains to their doctor.
  • Spirit: After receiving a diagnosis of heart failure, your loved one may be feeling a mix of emotions, from fear and anxiety to apathy, sadness and depression. When family members recognize these signs and show support for their loved ones, it lifts their heart, calms their emotions and inspires joy amidst their health challenges. This is the purpose of the spirit component of the HomeLife Enrichment care approach.
  • Family: The HomeLife Enrichment approach also helps the family by educating, guiding and supporting those caring for a loved one with heart failure. This component fosters greater understanding, improves overall outcomes and encourages self-care.

Interim HealthCare’s proprietary training programs enable home health clinicians and paraprofessionals to perform at the top of their license and provide valuable education and assistance. With more than 55 years’ experience caring for people, and as the First in Home Care®, Interim HealthCare’s multi-disciplinary care teams support clients living with heart failure in familiar surroundings – at home or in assisted living communities.

This unique home-based focus provides a more intimate and unedited view into an individual’s daily life. It also creates an effective education partnership with the individual’s primary care provider or doctor in the hospital. Often, the direction provided by a physician isn’t enough for the true impact of a heart failure diagnosis to sink in. By extending that education into a “real-life” setting, home health clinicians and paraprofessionals get a total view of the patient to better inform a tailored care plan. This difference results in care plans that account for specific support needs, personal motivations and obstacles, and adherence tendencies for improved health management and better quality of life.

Interim HealthCare specialty programs fall under its HomeLife Enrichment standard of care offerings. Currently, these span heart failure, diabetes, COVID-19, cognitive care with a focus on dementia, and other chronic care conditions with more planned in the next 18 months.

Z PLUMBERZ Offers Advice Ahead of Brown Friday, Busiest Plumbing Day of the Year

2021-10-20T12:24:40-04:00October 20th, 2021|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Fast-growing plumbing franchise shares tips to avoid holiday disasters.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Many people know the Friday after Thanksgiving as “Black Friday,” the most popular shopping day of the year – but it’s also the busiest day of the year for plumbers. In the plumbing industry, it’s known as “Brown Friday,” thanks to an increased use of kitchens and bathrooms during food preparations and large gatherings, this day brings a significant increase in plumbing, sewage and drain-related issues to homes and businesses.

Since the holiday season can be harmful to drainage and septic systems – especially backed up sinks and malfunctioning garbage disposals – Z PLUMBERZ, a full-service and fast-growing residential and commercial plumbing franchise, has several tips for home and business owners to help prevent plumbing disasters.

  • Dispose of all food items in the trash can, especially items like fruit skin and pulp, potato and onion peelings, eggshells, poultry bones and skin, and pumpkin seeds, which can clog drains and damage garbage disposals.
  • Fatty oils and grease should be placed into containers and thrown away with garbage. While it is a common myth that fats can be poured down the drain if followed by hot water, the truth is the fats will eventually cool down and clog pipes.
  • Remind your family – particularly kids – that only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet. Flushing food or wet wipes can cause significant sewage issues including overflow or clogs, since these items do not dissolve properly.
  • If you’re having guests stay overnight, consider spreading out showers and laundry loads to be cautious of overusing your water heater and drains.

“With the flurry of cooking and entertaining happening at homes and businesses close to and on Brown Friday, people often forget about these common plumbing mistakes that could end up causing them a major headache – so we want to make sure our customers and communities know what to do,” said Matt O’Rourke, President of Z PLUMBERZ. “We hope that providing these tips will help the holidays and your pipes flow smoothly.  But to make sure we’re ready, we increase staffing around Thanksgiving and our team of experts is available 24/7 in case of holiday plumbing emergencies.”
