Zoom Drain celebrates Women’s History Month; opens new woman-led location in Broward County

2024-03-07T18:49:45-05:00March 7th, 2024|Tags: , , , , |

Local owners Samantha Salomon and Facundo Scialpi bring their unique backgrounds and community-focused vision to southeastern Florida

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Zoom Drain, a leading operator of drain and sewer services, will expand its reach into Florida by opening a woman-led location in Broward County on March 5 as the country gets set to celebrate Women’s History Month.

Led by Samantha Salomon, a woman and first-generation immigrant, and her husband, Facundo Scialpi, Zoom Drain of Broward County will be located at 12075 NW 40th Street, Unit No. 3, Coral Springs, Florida, and will offer around-the-clock residential and commercial services centered on drain and sewer cleaning, video inspections and repair.

“We want to redefine the plumbing service landscape with a focus on reliability, customer satisfaction, and giving back to the community,” Salomon said. “Opening this location is a testament to the American dream. My diverse professional background has not only prepared me for the challenges of business ownership but also instilled in me a deep commitment to our clients and community.”

Salomon, who has worked in construction management, and Scialpi, a successful commercial attorney and former assistant public defender, want to use their professional experiences to build a good rapport with their employees and create a favorable customer experience for their clientele.

The couple both immigrated to the United States as children. Scialpi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but moved to Connecticut with his family when he was 3 years old before moving to Florida at 16 years old. Salomon was born in ValenciaVenezuela, and moved to this country at the age of 17.

“Our roots and journeys to the United States have profoundly shaped our values and aspirations,” Scialpi said. “This business is our way of contributing to the community that has given us so much.”

Salomon has a bachelor’s degree from The Art Institutes in Miami and a master’s degree in marketing from Florida International University. Scialpi has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida International University in Miami and received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.

Salomon said she and Scialpi were drawn to the Zoom Drain franchise after reading about the company on franchising expert Brian Beers’ website.

“The choice to join the Zoom Drain franchise was influenced by the brand’s reputation and our desire to address the critical need for more skilled tradespeople in this community,” Scialpi said. “Since sanitation and plumbing are such an important part of a functioning community, we believe we can make a big impact by providing clients with this much-needed service. I support Samantha’s endeavors and want to help her succeed in bringing these services to Broward County.”

Schepler was honored at the 64th IFA Annual Convention in Phoenix, Arizona for being an outstanding franchise establishment owner-operator.

“Franchisees of the Year exemplify what franchising is all about – providing opportunity, serving others, and fulfilling the American Dream,” said Matthew Haller, President and CEO of the International Franchise Association. “We are proud to recognize Rich Schepler with the highest honor IFA awards to individual franchisees, and I have no doubt his work is changing lives and making a lasting community impact.”

The Franchisee of the Year Award recognizes leading franchise owners from IFA member brands whose outstanding performance and contributions help protect, enhance, and promote the franchise business model. Nominated by their parent company, individuals are selected for their involvement in their communities, embodying the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering a strong and healthy culture with their workforce, and assisting their fellow franchisees when called upon.

Schepler has been a member of the AlphaGraphics family since 2015. Prior to joining AlphaGraphics, he spent 31 years in the printing industry, including being the vice president at his former company. He took that experience and has quickly grown his business in North Carolina into an exceptional AlphaGraphics center. His wife, son, and daughter all work in the business with him.

Rich Schepler, alongside his entire family and team, epitomize the pinnacle of what every franchisee should aspire to become,” said Bill McPherson, vice president of retail network development. “Their excellence isn’t just measured by their remarkable sales, growth, and profitability — what truly sets them apart is their unparalleled commitment to their community and customers. One-Third of Companies Bracing for Higher Employee Turnover

2024-03-07T17:44:04-05:00March 7th, 2024|Tags: , , , |

Exiting Workers Cost Businesses $36,295 Annually

Latest Results from The Harris Poll

OKLAHOMA CITY — Thirty-three percent of U.S. hiring managers anticipate employee turnover at their company to increase in the next year, costing an average of $36,295 (e.g., cost to rehire, lost productivity) annually.

Significantly, more than 20% of hiring managers say that number climbs to $100,000 or higher.

This is according to a recent Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey.

For those who anticipate increased turnover in 2024, many point to better pay/benefits offered elsewhere (38%), increased workplace demands (35%), employees resigning (33%), employee feelings of being overworked (31%) and the competitive job market (26%) as the cause.

Around a quarter believe it will be due in part to better perks being offered elsewhere (e.g., summer Fridays, unlimited vacation days) (23%), employees being terminated (23%), employees retiring (23%) and better company culture elsewhere (21%).

Turnover Fallout

Turnover not only takes a toll on the company, but also the remaining employees — nearly three-quarters of hiring managers (73%) say employee turnover places a heavy burden on existing employees.

In an effort to counteract this turnover and perhaps give some reprieve to their employees, the overwhelming majority of companies (88%) are making plans to hire next year — a significant increase since last year (81%).

Typically, companies are hiring either to increase their overall employee count (45%) or to keep the same level of employees (36%).

Building Blocks for Turnover Solutions

In any business, turnover is unavoidable. Employee movement within the workforce is natural and can be attributed to various factors. From affecting productivity to engagement, excessive turnover can wreak havoc on even the most established business’ ability to stay competitive.

While best retention practices come in many shapes and sizes, they’re all linked by the same basic idea—employees are a company’s most valuable asset.

Express has identified eight building blocks for turnover solutions with full details available at ExpressPros.com/TurnoverSolutions:

  1. Understanding That Turnover is a Balance: Turnover can be healthy for an organization to an extent such as underperforming team members, someone has checked out with retirement on the horizon, or an employee lacking motivation because they aren’t happy in their role.
  2. The Cost of Turnover: Studies show the actual cost to replace an employee is significant. Depending on a variety of factors — including skill level, education and experience — the total cost of turnover can be as high as 150% of an employee’s annual salary.
  3. Understand the Expectations of Turnover: Acknowledging that turnover is common in the employment cycle, organizations that delve into the complexity of expected turnover rates gain a pivotal advantage in proactive management.
  4. Avoid Retention Roadblocks: Positive retention habits are the best defense against negative turnover. Time wasters can impede progress and reduce the effectiveness of turnover management efforts.
  5. Creating a Culture that Prevents Turnover: While the upfront costs may seem significant, the long-term benefits can outweigh the expenses — prioritize maintaining the well-being and job satisfaction of your employees.
  6. Employee Engagement is Key: Programs that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, provide opportunities for professional development and recognize and reward employee contributions can improve engagement.
  7. Manage Employees’ Expectations of Success: It’s critical to be upfront with expectations to help mitigate turnover and ensure employees are prepared to stay.
  8. Support a Multi-Generational Friendly Workplace: As organizations strive to create inclusive environments that cater to the needs and preferences of individuals spanning different age groups, they will learn how to leverage the collective strengths of diverse experiences as an opportunity to improve.

“High turnover in the booming jobs market of the past few years has led to a strained workforce that is stressed and burned out,” said Bill Stoller, Express Employment International CEO. “With data showing more employees are remaining in place, now is the perfect time to create retention tactics to stabilize headcount with top talent.”

Survey Methodology
The Job Insights survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Express Employment Professionals between Oct. 31 and Nov. 10, 2023, among 1,007 U.S. hiring decision-makers.

Top Rail Fence opens two new Florida locations with ribbon-cutting ceremony

2024-02-28T20:45:50-05:00February 28th, 2024|Tags: , , , |

Owner Justin Green wants his Top Rail Fence West Volusia and Top Rail Fence Daytona Beach locations to provide the area with a sense of comfort and confidence

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Top Rail Fence, the on-time professionals in fence design, quality, installation and service, will announce the opening of two locations in West Volusia and Daytona Beach, Florida, with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the city of Debary at the Debary Golf & Country Club from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 29.

Owner Justin Green said both new Central Florida locations are dedicated to offering high quality materials with best in practice installation, from highly trained professionals.

“I hope my business will have a positive influence on my community,” he said. “I want to be able to provide my neighbors with security and privacy while giving them a brand they can have confidence in.”

Green said when he and his then fiancée, now wife, decided to sell his home to combine households, their realtor suggested they add fencing to improve its resale value and appeal. His difficulty in finding a dependable contractor to install the fence made him realize how much the Central Florida area needed a professionally run fence company that had a customer-focused approach.

“I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so small business ownership has always been my dream,” he said. “I went through a long discovery process to find the right franchise. But, after my fencing experience and after meeting the team at Top Rail Fence, I knew I’d found the right place. Their leadership and support team instilled the confidence I needed to know this was the right business for me.”

Green is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in marketing and finance. He has spent most of his professional career in sales and management, developing new territories or improving underperforming territories in corporate America. He plans to bring his consultative approach to ensure each customer is completely satisfied with the investment to their property.

“I’m excited to grow a business that is my own instead of someone else’s,” he said. “My overall vision is to build the best fence company in the area, one that puts our customers first. Leaving each property owner confident that their investment with us will provide security and peace of mind for years to come.

Early Childhood Education Franchise Opens First of Three Locations Coming to the Dallas Market

DALLAS — Celebree School, a leader in early childhood education that provides infant and toddler care, preschool, before and aftercare, and summer camp programs, announced today the opening of its first school in Dallas. Located at 2400 Bryan St., the new school is the first of three slated to open in the Dallas area on Monday, February 26th. Celebree School offers customized programs that address the physical, social, emotional, and academic needs of children while adhering to Texas early education standards.

Enrollment is now open, and community members are encouraged to contact Celebree School for tours, visits, and more information. Celebree School of Dallas Arts District offers childcare programs to families and businesses in the surrounding area and will be celebrating a grand opening event in early April.

The new school is owned and operated by local entrepreneurial couple, Mindi and Jeff McClure. Both Mindi and Jeff have extensive experience in the financial services and real estate investment banking industries. During that time, Mindi worked closely with small business owners, sparking a passion for entrepreneurship. This inspired their goal to open a business that positively impacts their community. Coming from a long line of schoolteachers, the McClures understand the value of quality education and care for young families. This dedication is what led them to establish their own Celebree School. The couple is committed to their vision of creating a school environment that will protect, educate, and nurture every child.

“From raising two daughters, I know how important it is to give your children a high-quality place to learn at a young age,” shared Mindi. “This Celebree School will bring dedicated teachers and staff members who make it their goal to allow these children to learn and prosper. Introducing the first Celebree School in Texas reflects our commitment to providing this fundamental support to the people of Dallas.”

Celebree School lives by its promise to Grow People Big and Small™, and was founded on the belief that success in early childhood development is equal parts curriculum and a connection that extends beyond the classroom to address the needs of the whole child and the whole family. Each Celebree School is a village made up of parents, children, and educators while providing curriculum-based care that prepares your child for kindergarten and beyond.

With a 29-plus-year history of providing superior early childhood education, Celebree School delivers a stable, secure learning environment that helps children develop a lifelong love of learning. Programs are available for children six weeks to Pre-K with unique curriculums designed to develop positive social skills and values while allowing children to learn about their world through age-appropriate play, projects, and activities. Care is available part time or full time and parents are allowed to drop in and visit at any time.

“We’re honored to continue to help brilliant entrepreneurs like Mindi and Jeff McClure actualize their business goals and have them join our Celebree School family,” said Richard Huffman, Founder and CEO of Celebree School. “As we continue to expand our brand’s footprint through franchising, it’s more important than ever that we partner with local community leaders who have a passion for early childhood education. The opening of the Dallas school brings me immense pride and joy. I know they are the perfect franchisees to drive our mission forward.”

The fast-growth brand began franchising in 2019 and now boasts 44 schools open, 54 franchisees awarded over 100 sites, a presence across 14 states, and an enrollment of more than 4,570 children who are being protected, educated, and nurtured within the Celebree family. When franchisees invest with Celebree School, they’re investing in an organization with a strong culture, solid systems, and a proven business model backed with 29-plus years of experience in providing exceptional early childhood education.
