Bailey Seafood: Evolving for Success

George Kontras was always passionate about seafood. A native of Greece, he loved cooking and eating fresh cuts of fish, creating recipes inspired by the predominantly pescatarian diet of his culture. So when he relocated to Buffalo, New York in the early 1980s, he decided to open a fish market so residents could purchase fresh seafood without having to travel far. Bailey Seafood was born. Even through a pandemic, Sport Clips Haircuts raised more than $1M to support VFW Help A Hero Scholarships

GEORGETOWN, Texas. — Today, Sport Clips Haircuts presented a $1,026,105 donation check to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation (VFW) to provide scholarships for service members and veterans. Even in a pandemic, veterans are returning from active military duty to prepare for civilian careers that often require additional college, graduate, and technical degrees and training. To ease the financial burden of going back to school, Sport Clips and the VFW have teamed up for the past seven years to provide assistance through the Help A Hero Scholarship program.

“Supporting our nation’s military remains a priority for our veteran-founded business. We are honored to make this donation to the Help A Hero program for those who have given so much through their service,” said Gordon Logan, Air Force veteran, VFW Life member and founder and chairman of Sport Clips. “We’re grateful to our franchisees, team members, clients, and product partners who faithfully support these essential scholarships.”

Xponential Fitness Lands Three Brands on Entrepreneur’s 2021 Franchise 500®

IRVINE, Calif. — 2020 did not hold back the brands of Xponential Fitness, the largest curator of premium boutique fitness brands across eight different verticals. Three of the company’s brands – Club Pilates, Pure Barre and CycleBar – landed a spot in Entrepreneur magazine’s coveted 2021 Franchise 500 list as a result of another year of impressive unit growth, financial strength and stability and brand power. Club Pilates was ranked 104; Pure Barre was ranked 119, up from its previous spot of 300; and CycleBar landed at 351, up 128 spots from last year.

While some fitness brands struggled to find their footing following the onset of the pandemic and other challenges that arose in 2020, Xponential Fitness proved to be a beacon of resilience and creativity in the industry. When adversity struck, franchise owners were empowered to pivot by offering outdoor and virtual workouts, with some brands even renting out equipment to keep members healthy and engaged.
