Surge in New York Home Improvement Spending Draws Franchise Brand to the Market

NEW YORK — N-Hance Wood Refinishing, the leading nationwide franchise specializing in hardwood floor and kitchen cabinet refinishing, has announced plans to add four new territories to New York state, secured through strategic partnerships, by year’s end. This 2019 expansion is folded into the brand’s overarching goal to add more than 20 locations throughout the state over the next five years.

Kickstarting these aggressive development goals are newly signed agreements in Nassau County and Suffolk County. Entrepreneurs Michael and Carole Gangadeen will debut N-Hance’s services throughout Floral Park, New Cassel, Plain View, Elmont, Uniondale, and Rockville Centre areas. Additionally, new franchise owner, Andrew Saulino will service the Melville, Amityville, Brentwood, Brightwaters, Bayport, Calverton, Blue Point and Tiana areas. Finally, John Polkwoski will launch the N-Hance brand in markets including Binghamton, Ithaca, Cortland, and Oxford, in central New York.  These three new groups will build on the momentum N-Hance has already paved with 21 franchise locations currently operating throughout the state. To meet the rising demand in the market, N-Hance is actively seeking franchise partners in the cities of Binghamton, Albany, Long Island, Bronx, Manhattan, and Syracuse.

As of June 2018, New York comes in at third of highest home improvement spending states, 11.6 billion dollars, just behind California and Texas. The surge in home improvement spending is spearheading N-Hance’s efforts to continue growth in the already successful New York area. “The area, economically, is ripe for a concept like N-Hance with our array of offerings for wood refinishing and renewal,” said D’Wayne Tanner, Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales. “We’ve had resounding successes introducing franchises in this eager market and look forward to continuing this legacy as we create innumerable opportunities for entrepreneurs statewide.”

Trevor Kaftan, Owner of an N-Hance location in the Poughkeepsie area, who was also N-Hance’s 2018 Franchisee of the Year, joined the franchise system in 2012 after being attracted to the company for its market opportunity, “I had been selling refacing and kitchen remodeling services on my own for three years, and I kept getting pushback from customers. When I found out about N-Hance and what they offered to consumers, I knew there would be a market for the services that N-Hance provides.”

N-Hance sets the industry standard for hardwood refinishing.  Supported by Harris Research, Inc., N-Hance is the only wood refinishing company, working with more than 1,200 Home Depot locations across the nation. Also helping lead the company’s growth is its one of a kind “Lightspeed® instant curing system” for hardwood cabinets and floors which saves customers time and money over the traditional refinishing, refacing or replacing alternatives. The innovative process provides one day hardwood refinishing without the hassle of dust, mess or odor.

Elegant French Patisserie Franchise Looks to Add 10 New Locations by 2023

AUSTIN, Texas — Le Macaron French Pastries, an elegant French patisserie that offers guests the finest, authentic French macarons and pastries, recently announced plans to introduce more than 10 locations in targeted communities throughout Texas. The community-focused brand will ignite growth through strategic franchise partnerships and aims to open the new locations within the next five years.

Le Macaron French Pastries currently has more than 50 locations across the nation and is looking to ramp up growth through a selective strategy, focusing on a solid foundation of smart franchise partnerships and tactical site selection. Three Le Macaron French Pastries franchises are currently open in the Houston and San Antonio area, and each of them have found success with a loyal customer following.

Texas has proven to be the perfect market for our business – the community has been incredibly supportive and the community appreciates the elevated flavors our pastries have to offer,” stated Mervis Ruiz, owner of Le Macaron in Cypress. “From the locals to the millions of visitors that flock to the city every year, we’ve developed a loyal-fan base with our authentic macarons that are unparalleled in the market. I look forward to watching Le Macaron French Pastries further expand its presence throughout Texas as we have become a household name across the State.”

The dedicated customer base Le Macaron French Pastries secures makes the brand a reliable franchise concept for those beginning their professional careers or individuals looking to take a new step in their professional journeys. Jonathan Hanley, owner of Le Macaron in Frisco, held executive roles in a variety of multi-national tech and consumer goods companies. Hanley and his two daughters fell in love with the product of Le Macaron when trying it for the first time, and felt there needed to be a location in their own community. Launched only two years ago, Hanley and Le Macaron in Frisco have earned a dedicated customer following and well recognized online presence.

“Our store has seen success in the Frisco community because we are able to create authentic French experiences,” said Hanley. “Many other macaron brands have gone out of business, but the quality of Le Macaron’s product has helped make the brand a distinguishable one.”

Founded by France natives and mother-daughter team Rosalie Guillem and Audrey Saba, Le Macaron French Pastries provides an authentic French experience for Americans nationwide. Upon entering, guests are greeted with brilliant colors and a modern interior complemented with traditional music playing throughout the café. Offering more than 20 flavors of macarons, as well as seasonal flavors, the menu extends to include pastries, gelato, coffee, cakes, éclairs, and more.

Whether in a metropolitan city or municipal town, Le Macaron French Pastries offers a new franchise opportunity which aims to lean into the growing quick-serve and snack brand trend of kiosks, mobile carts, and express locations. As consumers’ on-the-go lifestyle continues to accelerate, Le Macaron French Pastries seeks to capitalize on these captive audiences at malls, airports, sporting events, festivals and other gatherings. Franchisees can expect an investment ranging from between $91,750 to $127,000 for a mobile cart and $146,000 to $375,500 for a traditional café. All of Le Macaron French Pastries products are made in the kitchen headquarters, eliminating the need for a full kitchen space. Interested parties should have a strong desire to own a business, as well as a passion for the dessert space and success.

“The thriving economy and diversity of cultures in Texas makes the state an optimal place for Le Macaron French Pastries to grow,” said Rosalie Guillem, CEO and co-founder of Le Macaron French Pastries. “We are confident our versatile mobile cart franchise opportunity will give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to invest in the brand while reducing the high overhead costs that are often associated with opening a business. We look forward to working with franchise partners in cities like Austin, El Paso and Dallas to help give all Texas residents access to our little bites of heaven known as macarons.”

The tale of the nightmare boss

2019-04-15T20:56:27-04:00April 15th, 2019|

75704322 - crazy man is typing

It comes out from the deep. It’s hairy. It’s scary. It fills you with terror and dread during every waking moment. It is …

The Nightmare Boss.

Chapter one

It starts right when you arrive in the morning. No sooner do you put down your cup of coffee than Nightmare Boss is screaming in your ear. You’d better have those reports on his (or her) desk by noon! No, make it 11 o’clock. Then there’s ANOTHER set of reports he wants you to have on his desk by noon. Lunch break? You think you deserve a lunch break? Where do you think you are – on vacation?

Chapter two

The reports are done (both sets). You had to kill yourself to do them and your stomach is growling like a wild animal, but they’re done. Then, Nightmare Boss calls you into his office. You call these reports? I wouldn’t use these to line my birdcages. Do them over – ALL of them. I don’t care if you have to stay late – again.

Chapter three

You’re riding home in the car, bleary-eyed after what seems like another million-hour day. You can’t take much more of this. It’s far past dark. You haven’t eaten in 12 hours. Your doctor says you’re on the road to an ulcer. It’s official: if you don’t do something fast, Nightmare Boss is going to spell your doom.

Chapter four

Just before you pull off the highway to your exit, you spot a billboard. “Buy your own franchise,” it says. “Then, you can be your OWN boss.” Now there’s an idea. You’ve always thought you had what it takes. You have a little capital saved up. You’d never have to deal with Nightmare Boss again – and you certainly would be a better boss than he is.

So what are you waiting for? Give your story a happily ever after: be the boss of your own franchise today.

Homeowners Across the Country are Clogging Toilets, Says National Survey

2019-04-11T18:58:25-04:00April 11th, 2019|Tags: , , , , , , |

Mr. Rooter Plumbing launches poll on common plumbing issues; educates consumers on do’s and don’ts

WACO, Texas — From backed up drains to low water pressure, the list of potential plumbing problems homeowner’s deal with can be daunting. In an effort to educate consumers and provide them with tips on how to tackle these issues, Mr. Rooter Plumbing, a Neighborly company, commissioned a national survey asking homeowners about the most common plumbing issues they face.

The results of the survey, which was conducted by Google Consumer Surveys, showed that nearly 20% of homeowners frequently have to deal with a clogged toilet, while only 9% are dealing with a clogged sink. Another 15% spend time fixing backed up drains, and close to 6% of homeowners are experiencing low water pressure. Only 4% face garbage disposal issues.

“Being a homeowner is a fulfilling and rewarding accomplishment, but it can also bring new responsibilities and tasks that many aren’t prepared for,” said Doyle James, president of Mr. Rooter Plumbing. “This survey gave us tremendous insight as to the most common plumbing problems that homeowners deal with, along with their go-to methods for fixes. We learned that when faced with a plumbing issue, nearly 46% of homeowners research DIY tips and attempt to fix the problem themselves. That’s why it’s vital to educate consumers about the do’s and don’ts of plumbing, so they can hopefully avoid back-ups, bursts or other potential catastrophes down the line.”

To help prepare homeowners for any unforeseen disasters, Mr. Rooter is offering expert tips on how to handle some of the most common plumbing issues, including:

  • Clogged toilet: Do not try to flush the toilet, as this will only lead to an overflow. Find a plunger and make sure to have a good and consistent connection with the plunger and the toilet. Being quick and repetitive with the plunging motion and keeping an eye out for movement in the toilet is key to unclogging it.
  • Backed up drain: Use a regular wire coat hanger and straighten it out as much as possible. Bend one end to create a hook, push it through the drain and start fishing. Hair and all the buildup, aka gunk, should pull out. Once it’s all pulled out, run the hot water and it should clear up.
  • Clogged sink: Mix 1/3 of a cup of baking soda and 1/3 of a cup of vinegar until it starts to fizz. Pour it immediately down the drain to help break down the gunk, hair and grime. Let it sit for about an hour (overnight is even better) and then flush it with hot water.
  • Low water pressure: Screw off the aerator, clean off the gunky residue and screw it back onto the faucet. This should help the water pressure get back to normal.
  • Garbage disposal: Never use chemical cleaners to clear a backed-up garbage disposal. To check for clogs, remove the unit and visually inspect the pipe for obstructions.

“Every year, millions of homeowners require the expertise and hard work of an experienced plumber. And with National Hug a Plumber Day coming up on April 25, now is the perfect time to not only highlight the importance of proper plumbing maintenance, but to also say ‘thank you’ to the dedicated technicians and plumbers who always show up when disastrous situations go down,” continued James.

To further celebrate the holiday, Mr. Rooter is recognizing America’s unsung heroes who go above and beyond the call of duty to keep our pipes – and lives – flowing smoothly. Beginning today, fans are encouraged to visit Mr. Rooter’s Facebook page and share a first-hand story of how a plumber saved their day for a chance to win a smart home leak detector along with other Mr. Rooter swag. FASTSIGNS International’s Ross Cartwright Will Join ISA’s Elite Program

2019-04-10T19:21:53-04:00April 10th, 2019|Tags: , , , , , |

CARROLLTON, Texas — Ross Cartwright, a Business Consultant with FASTSIGNS International, Inc., has been invited to join the International Sign Association’s (ISA) Elite program, recognizing the next generation of sign, graphics and visual communications industry leaders. Cartwright is among only 37 professionals worldwide chosen for this year’s program.

The ISA Elite program brings selected participants to the International Sign Association event in April and provides them with unique networking opportunities with fellow professionals and industry leaders. A two-day follow-up leadership retreat will be held in the Fall.

“Being selected as one of 37 to join the ISA’s Elite Program for Emerging Leaders is an incredible honor,” said Mark Jameson, Executive Vice President of Franchise Support & Development at FASTSIGNS International, Inc. “We are so proud of the work Ross has done and the impact he will continue to make at FASTSIGNS from his experience in the program.”

“Our association, tradeshow and industry have been transformed by the energy that the ISA Elite bring each year,” said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. “Past Elite members are already giving back by serving on committees and boards of the ISA and ISA regional affiliates. We’re excited to have Ross Cartwright join this prestigious group, and we look forward to the insights that each member of the 2019 class will bring.”

Ross Cartwright began his career with FASTSIGNS® in 2010, working in a franchised location in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio doing production and installations. Ross came into that position with sign experience, having learned to operate wide format and flat-bed printers, manufacture sign cabinets and channel letters, and also to install many different types of sign projects.

“I remember being hooked after the first week working in the signage business,” said Cartwright. “I wanted to learn how to do everything. It was very cool to see these big projects come to life and being a part of the creation process. I really couldn’t wait to get to work every day.”

From there Cartwright moved into the lead sales role where he helped grow the location’s revenue. After working in the FASTSIGNS center for four years, Cartwright took a job with the franchisor (FASTSIGNS International, Inc.) and relocated to Carrollton, Texas to become a Training Manager. Ross’ hands on sign experience and knowledge prepared him to train new franchisees who would soon be operating their own FASTSIGNS locations. Four years later, Ross is now a Business Consultant in the Operations Department where he continues to help and support Franchisees across many areas of their business.

“I’m honored to be a part of the 2019 ISA Elite class and to participate with other emerging leaders in the industry,” said Cartwright. “I look forward to learning about new products, services, processes and technologies so I can share this knowledge to help our FASTSIGNS franchisees become even more successful.”

FASTSIGNS International Inc., Receives 2019 Franchisees’ Choice Designation By CFA

2019-04-10T17:19:48-04:00April 10th, 2019|Tags: , , , , |

Award-winning Franchisor Recognized for Seventh Consecutive Year for Its Strong Relationship with Canadian Franchisees, Extensive Franchisee Support, and Training

CARROLLTON, Texas — FASTSIGNS International, Inc., franchisor of FASTSIGNS®, the leading sign, graphics and visual communications franchise, announced today it has been recognized by the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) as a silver recipient of the 2019 Franchisees’ Choice Designation. FASTSIGNS has been recognized by the CFA for the seventh consecutive year for its strong relationship with Canadian franchisees, as well as extensive franchisee support and training.

“We pride ourselves on our high level of franchisee satisfaction in every country we operate in around the world and are honored to be recognized once again by the Canadian Franchise Association for this prestigious designation,” said Mark Jameson, EVP of Franchise Support and Development, FASTSIGNS International, Inc. “Systemwide, we have the highest support ratio the best of any sign and graphics franchise. As we continue to grow throughout Canada, we’ll continue to allocate a significant amount of resources to ensuring our franchisees — both existing and new — have access to top-notch training and support, and we’ll continue to nurture our strong franchisor-franchisee relationship that is so crucial to FASTSIGNS’ success.”

The Franchisees’ Choice designees are CFA member franchise systems who voluntarily took part in an independently-administered survey. Franchisees were asked to assess their franchisor in key areas of the franchise business model, including the franchisee selection process; franchisee information package; leadership; business planning and marketing; training and support; ongoing operations; and the relationship between the franchisor and franchisee.

“I’ve been with FASTSIGNS for more than twelve years, and the support I’ve received from the franchisor, in many aspects of my business, is fantastic. From strategic direction to marketing, along with vendor relations, technology and more, the tools and resources provided have continuously contributed to my center’s ongoing growth,” said Craig Gibbs, who opened a FASTSIGNS center in Scarborough, Ontario in 2007. “I am very satisfied with FASTSIGNS and am a proud advocate. I look forward to our combined efforts as we strive to grow the successful organization.”

In the due diligence process of investigating a franchise opportunity, speaking with existing franchisees about the opportunity being explored is essential. For prospective franchisees, the Franchisees’ Choice Designation identifies that a franchise brand has received solid endorsement and ratings from its franchisees. The 2019 Franchisees’ Choice designees are representative of the spectrum of franchise opportunities and the diversity and excellence of CFA members.

FASTSIGNS currently has over 30 centers throughout Canada, including two recent openings in Ontario and additional centers slated to open in the coming months. The brand projects opening up to five new centers each year over the next several years and is actively seeking prospective franchisees throughout the country, including a Master Franchisee to develop in Quebec.

FASTSIGNS is known in the industry for equipping its franchisees with tools vital to securing the ongoing success of each individual location. In 2018, FASTSIGNS announced the launch of its partnership with 1HUDDLE, a workforce-training platform that converts unique training content into science-backed, quick-burst training games that are proven to accelerate workforce productivity. Additionally, FASTSIGNS announced the launch of a special incentive for first responders, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers, sheriffs, and firefighters, which includes a 50-percent reduction on the franchise fee — a savings of $23,750.

FASTSIGNS International, Inc. was ranked the #1 franchise opportunity in its category and 95 overall on Entrepreneur magazine’s 2019 Franchise 500®, the world’s first, best and most comprehensive franchise ranking. Acknowledged by entrepreneurs and franchisors as a top competitive tool of measurement, the Franchise 500® recognizes FASTSIGNS, the only sign, graphics, and visual communications franchise to be recognized in the top 100, for its exceptional performance in areas including financial strength and stability, growth rate, and brand power. FASTSIGNS also ranked #2 on this year’s Franchise Gator Top 100 list, ranking the best franchises for 2019. FASTSIGNS also has been ranked by Franchise Business Review as one of the “Best of the Best” for franchisee satisfaction for the last 10 years. Additionally, FASTSIGNS also was named to Franchise Business Review’s “Innovative Franchises” list in 2017 and a “Best-in-Category” franchise by Franchise Business Review in 2018. Last year, the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) recognized FASTSIGNS International, Inc. with a special six-year Franchisees’ Choice designation for its strong relationship with Canadian franchisees, as well as extensive franchisee training and support.

ROCHESTER, Mich. — Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of personalized in-home senior care, and Hospice of Michigan, the largest hospice provider in Michigan, today announced they will host educational sessions on caregiving techniques for dementia patients in Rochester, Michigan on Thursday, April 18. The sessions were created in conjunction with, and will be led by, nationally renowned dementia care expert Teepa Snow of Positive Approach, LLC.

The interactive sessions will explore the unique challenges associated with dementia and the proper caregiving practices that lead to positive interactions. In addition to expanding their Alzheimer’s and dementia-related awareness and knowledge, participants will learn effective communication techniques, strategies to connect with people in a meaningful way, and methods of providing the proper resources at the right time. The event is free and open to the public.

“At Senior Helpers, we know firsthand how difficult an Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis can be, which is why we’re passionately committed to educating our caregivers, healthcare professionals and the public on successful at-home care strategies,” said Barbara Roden, president and owner of the Senior Helpers Southeast Michigan locations. “Teepa is at the forefront of today’s conversation on Alzheimer’s and dementia care and able to provide invaluable knowledge to seminar attendees. She will not only cover the many brain, behavioral, and functional changes associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia, but how to deliver exceptional care tailored to a patient’s specific needs.”

There are currently 5.8 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, and that number is projected to reach 14 million by 2050. Many of these individuals will need specialized care to combat the disorder, and it’s more important now than ever to equip caregivers with the necessary tools and knowledge to adequately assist those with memory loss.

Details on the event may be found below:

  • Alzheimer’s and Dementia: Coping with Challenging Behaviors—Teepa will lead three, two-hour and fifteen-minute presentations to help care partners and caregivers understand difficult behavior in patients, and how to assist with trying situations. The eco- and beginner-friendly studio looks to double footprint & bring accessible yoga nationwide through franchise opportunity

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Honor Yoga, a leader in the more than $16 billion yoga industry, is doubling its footprint and stretching its presence across the United States. Known for being a sustainable community of healing, offering an approachable, loving environment to honor your mind, body and self through the practice of yoga, Honor Yoga has announced national expansion plans via franchising.

The number of American yoga practitioners has grown by more than 50 percent in the past four years, with 34 percent of Americans reporting that they are likely to participate in yoga within the next year. Created by fitness industry veteran and 500-hour certified yoga instructor, Maria Turco, Honor Yoga seeks to disrupt the popular model of yoga studios by providing yoga to all. Tired of box-like studios, Turco sought to fill the gap for an accessible yoga studio and further designed her locations with eco-friendliness in mind.

“Yoga is the most popular alternative health approach in the United States,” said Turco, founder and chief yogini of Honor Yoga. “With approximately 37 million adults practicing, that number is projected to continue growing to more than 55 million by 2020. With yoga’s increasing popularity, Honor Yoga emerges as a differentiator from other studios in that it provides a welcoming space for every yogi. We are not centered as a fitness brand, rather we focus on the holistic wellness approach through the practice of yoga and meditation. From our class offerings to our non-profit arm, Honor Yoga Foundation, we make yoga accessible to all, which in the current industry space is revolutionary.”

To augment its growth, Honor Yoga launched its franchise opportunity in partnership with multi-unit emerging brand investor Anthony Polazzi of AP Franchised Concepts, LLC. The brand is looking for passionate yogis and business professionals looking to cultivate healthier and happier communities. Including a franchisee fee of $49,108, due upon signing, the total investment to own a studio is $146,608$270,608. Each studio is approximately 2,400-3,400 square feet and employs 10 to 15 full- and part-time employees. For more information on the franchise opportunity, visit http://www.franchise.honoryoga.com/.

Honor Yoga launched in 2013 and offers a yoga class for everyone, including gentle, roots, calm & strong, slow flow, flow, power flow, meditation and aerial, among others. Members can attend classes in any of the 10 locations currently open in New Jersey, and can access classes by streaming online. In 2019, more communities will be able to experience Honor Yoga as the brand gears up to open 25 additional studios, at least 15 of which will open in the coming months. The brand plans to open 100 studios by 2023.

In addition to its core classes, Honor Yoga hosts retreats, teacher trainings and a variety of workshops throughout the year, many in partnership with the Honor Yoga Foundation. The Honor Yoga Foundation arm fosters peace and healing in communities by providing yoga-related wellness programs to under-served and at-risk populations, funding research of yoga’s benefits and supporting like-minded charitable organizations. The foundation is a core component of the Honor Yoga community, one to which Turco donates a third of her salary.

“Honor Yoga strives to exemplify what a life full of yoga means. Yoga connects your mind, body and soul internally, but also connects you to the greater universe,” Turco noted. “Living honorably means using yoga for good and giving back to those communities who need it the most.”
