Parent Company of Good-For-You Restaurant Franchises Introduces Two New Saladworks and Frutta Bowls Co-Branded Restaurants Inside Popular Grocery Store Chain.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — WOWorks, the parent company of good-for-you restaurant brands Saladworks, Frutta Bowls, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh and The Simple Greek, is continuing its strong partnership with The GIANT Company with plans to open four new locations which include two Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurant store-within-a-store locations.

Just recently, WOWorks opened a new co-branded Saladworks and Frutta Bowls location on November 12 inside the GIANT located at 2201 Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia. A second co-branded Saladworks and Frutta Bowls location opened at a newly remodeled GIANT at 7150 Hamilton Blvd. in Trexlertown, PA, on November 22. In addition, a new Saladworks location opened on November 29 in the newly remodeled GIANT store on 2300 Linglestown Rd. in Harrisburg.

“We are thrilled to launch this Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurant inside GIANT, as this showcases how we can open our two great healthy-halo brands together needing only 200 square feet – a perfectly sized restaurant for grocery stores,” said Kelly Roddy, CEO of WOWorks. “This grocery store model is gaining traction because they are quicker to build out and open, have attractive back-end efficiencies, and give customers more menu options covering all dayparts to help increase store foot-traffic.”

This introduction of the Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded model is part of WOWorks store-within-a-store growth strategy focused on opening multiple restaurant brands together in non-traditional locations with design and buildout flexibility and greater efficiencies due to shared back-end operations and equipment.

On December 10, WOWorks will also open its first franchisee owned store-within-a-store Frutta Bowls location in the GIANT at 4377 Swamp Road Doylestown, PA. Jordan Rideout and Curtis High are owners of eight Saladworks locations throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware, and this will be their first Frutta Bowls restaurant and first store-within-a-store location. “We are excited to offer GIANT customers’ Frutta Bowls’ menu of fresh healthy smoothies, bowls and bites,” said Jordan Rideout, co-owner of Frutta Bowls at the GIANT store in Doylestown.

WOWorks is actively seeking qualified franchise partners interested in multi-unit and single-unit ownership, preferably individuals with business experience and/or franchise experience, and a passion for serving guests. Better-For-You, Fast-Casual Restaurant Brands’ Experience Growth of its Co-Branding Restaurant Concepts in Traditional Franchise Spaces, Grocery Stores and other Non-Traditional Verticals.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The WOWorks family of restaurant brands, Saladworks, Frutta Bowls, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh and The Simple Greek, experienced growth of its co-branded restaurant concepts in 2021 with six locations opening and six additional franchise agreements signed across ten states by the end of the year.

“We are seeing an accelerated growth in co-branded WOWorks restaurants because our healthy-halo brands meet growing menu and flavor demands, and have the flexibility in size and operation to open alongside current restaurants and inside many non-traditional spaces,” said Eric Lavinder, Chief Development Officer for WOWorks. “By sharing a front and back-end, co-branded restaurants can build-out more efficiently to open quicker, have lower operating costs, and cover more dayparts to attract more guests and generate sales.”

In December, a Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurant will open in West Bloomfield, MI, a first for both brands in the state. Another co-branded location will open in Middletown, DE, where an existing Saladworks restaurant will add Frutta Bowls. And, for the first time, a Frutta Bowls restaurant coming to Hermitage, PA, will add on Saladworks to become a co-branded restaurant.

Several store-within-a-store co-branded restaurants are also part of this growth, such as Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurants opening in grocery stores in and around the Philadelphia area. In addition, an existing store-within-a-store Saladworks restaurant in a ShopRite store in Staten Island, NY, is also adding Frutta Bowls to create a co-branded restaurant. A current Philadelphia-based Fresh Grocer already has a co-branded Saladworks and Frutta Bowls restaurant as well.

On top of the co-branded openings in 2021, WOWorks signed additional co-branded restaurant agreements this year, including locations in Reno, NV, and San Juan Capistrano, CA; both are slated to open in the spring. An existing Saladworks restaurant in Morgantown, WV also signed an agreement to add on Frutta Bowls in 2022. Other Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurant agreements include a location in Norfolk, VA, and a three-location signing in Draper, UT, which will open one co-branded restaurant in 2022 and the other two at a later date.

Fast Casual Restaurant Franchise Creates Fall LTO to Drive Awareness and Donations for Kids in Need of Meals.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Saladworks, the nation’s leading fast-casual create-your-own salad franchise and part of the WOWorks family of brands, will celebrate its 35th birthday on Sept. 30. To commemorate this milestone, the brand wants to give back to the communities it serves by donating 35 cents from the sale of each of its new Amy’s Fall Fest entrees to No Kid Hungry. Saladworks will also give 35 bonus points to each Saladworks Rewards member that donates $5 to its No Kid Hungry fundraiser, the High Five Challenge, which started on September 1 and runs through October 17, 2021.

Amy’s Fall Fest was created from the winning recipe of the Saladworks’ Flavor Your World Original Recipe Challenge, which invited Saladworks Rewards members across the nation to create a new original recipe from Saladworks ingredients over the summer. Amy Sarli-Prelle was the winner of the Flavor Your World Original Recipe Challenge, and her recipe is featured for a limited time in the form of a themed Salad, Warm Grain Bowl, and Wrap.

Sarli-Prelle’s winning salad, Amy’s Fall Fest, is perfect for the fall weather rolling in. The entree is a blend of radiatore pasta, romaine/iceberg blend, roasted turkey, smoky bacon, diced apples, diced red onions, applewood smoked gouda cheese, walnuts and apple cider vinaigrette.

The Saladworks’ Flavor Your World Challenge was developed to help support No Kid Hungry, a cause to help end childhood hunger. The High Five Challenge has been created by Saladworks’ parent company WOWorks’, which also includes Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh, Frutta Bowls and The Simple Greek. Collectively, WOWorks brands are trying to raise $400,000 to give 4 million meals to kids in need.

There are five ways guests can team up with Saladworks to be a part of the High Five Challenge and support No Kid Hungry:

  • Making a donation of $1 or $5 to No Kid Hungry after purchasing their meal, either in person at a Saladworks restaurant or via online ordering. $1 donors receive an “I Joined the Team” sticker and an opportunity to sign a “High Five Hand” image symbolizing their personal commitment to the cause. To sweeten the deal, every guest who donates $5 or more receives the above, along with a high five value coupon for use on a future visit through October 31, 2021. Each individually signed “High Five Hand” will be posted on the wall signifying the progress made.
  • Purchasing Saladworks limited-time only Amy’s Fall Fest entrees will donate 35 cents to No Kid Hungry.
  • Additionally, purchasing a Saladworks Kids Works meal will give a donation of 10 cents to No Kid Hungry.
  • For each catering order, guests will also have the option to donate $5, $10 or $25 to No Kid Hungry on an ongoing basis.
  • Making a donation via a special WOWorks section within the Fundraising page of the No Kid Hungry website at: https://www.nokidhungry.org/partners/homepage-partner/WOWorks

“We’re so proud of Saladworks reaching an amazing milestone. There is no better way to celebrate this birthday than to partner with an impactful organization that helps end childhood hunger. WOWorks is all about making the communities they service a “WOW” place to live and we are continuously working to reach that goal,” said Kelly Roddy, CEO of WOWorks.

Saladworks, throughout its 35 years, has always placed a focus on guest originality through its array of over 60 fresh, flavorful and healthy ingredients. In addition to its 12 Signature recipes, Saladworks offers Create-Your-Own options — including Salads, Warm Grain Bowls, Wraps — as well as Soups and a Kids Works menu – plus, new Signature Sandwiches and Panini Melts in many locations.
