2021-06-03T13:01:26-04:00June 3rd, 2021|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Premier in-home senior care provider experiences a 288% revenue growth from 2018 to 2020, proving itself as a top regional performer.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, today announced its Northern Colorado location was named to BizWest‘s Mercury 100 List of fastest growing private companies in Boulder County and Northern Colorado. The franchise serves senior citizens and their families throughout Larimer and Weld Counties, including Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor and Greeley. The Mercury 100 List recognizes 50 companies in Boulder Valley and 50 companies in Northern Colorado. Among the companies listed from Northern Colorado, Senior Helpers was ranked second in flight 3, which recognizes companies with 2020 revenues between $1.8$4 million. Senior Helpers’ professionally trained caregivers help local seniors continue to enjoy the comfort of their own home despite age-related illnesses and mobility challenges.

“We are honored to be named to BizWest‘s list of the region’s fastest-growing companies because it reinforces not only our dedication to serving more older adults, but also employing and training more caregivers, especially during such challenging times,” said Gil Atanasoff, owner and executive director of Senior Helpers Northern Colorado. “This recognition would not have been possible without our team of dedicated and passionate caregivers and employees. Senior Helpers® Earns 2021 Great Place to Work® Certification for Third Consecutive Year

2021-05-25T12:05:43-04:00May 25th, 2021|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Leading provider of in-home care awarded prestigious industry designation spotlighting employee satisfaction.

BALTIMORE — Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, today announced it has achieved the prestigious, Great Place to Work® certification for the third consecutive year. As the first and only national in-home care company to be awarded this distinction since earning the initial recognition in 2019, Senior Helpers’ rapidly growing business is continually dedicated to providing safe, quality and compassionate care to older adults and their families. Since 2019, Senior Helpers has opened 48 new locations across the U.S. and has a strong pipeline of new openings for the remainder of 2021.

“Year over year, our community of caregivers and team members builds upon our foundation and strengthens our values of inclusion, appreciation, respect and compassion,” said Peter Ross, Senior Helpers CEO. “Having the Great Place to Work® certification awarded to us for the third consecutive year underscores our commitment to creating a culture that fosters positive experiences. It’s rewarding to me and the rest of the executive team to know our team members and caregivers consistently report a positive experience with our company — something that hasn’t changed even as our business has expanded. Afterall, we firmly believe that happy employees provide the best care for deserving seniors.”

Senior Helpers was granted this prominent designation by Great Place to Work for the third year after undergoing a rigorous, data-driven evaluation which considers more than 60 elements of the team member experience derived from surveys and feedback from more than 12,000 employees, regardless of their role in the organization. The evaluation considers employee pride and camaraderie, as well as the company’s positive community impact. The belief that each employee’s work makes a true difference for clients, and the recognition that the time and care team members put in everyday has special meaning is especially critical to the assessment process.

“We applaud Senior Helpers for seeking certification and releasing its employees’ feedback,” said Dr. Jacquelyn Kung, of Great Place to Work’s senior care affiliate Activated Insights. “These ratings measure Senior Helpers’ capacity to earn its employees’ trust and create a great workplace for high performance.”

The Great Place to Work Trust IndexTM methodology includes an exacting survey taken by millions of employees in thousands of companies annually. It represents the gold standard in measuring culture and employee engagement.

Interim HealthCare Inc. Launches 2021 National Nurses Week Campaign, “Beyond Gratitude: Appreciate | Advocate”

2021-05-04T10:15:03-04:00May 4th, 2021|Tags: , , , , |

Interim HealthCare leads chorus of gratitude for all nurses, calls the industry to action, and inspires next generation of those called to the profession.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home healthcare, personal care, healthcare staffing and hospice services, announced today the launch of “Beyond Gratitude: Appreciate | Advocate,” a campaign to unify messages of appreciation and advocacy toward nurses across healthcare, including clinicians of Interim HealthCare.

Showing Gratitude
By launching “Beyond Gratitude: Appreciate | Advocate,” with the start of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2021, Interim HealthCare is inviting all corners of society to partake in an authentic and visible expression of thanks for nurses. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate the nurses in their lives (not just those in home healthcare) on Interim HealthCare’s digital Wall of Gratitude including: patients and clients served by nurses, nurses who are inspired by fellow nurses daily or who would like to extend their gratitude to past and current mentors, healthcare leaders who would like to thank their frontline teams and more.

Visit the 2021 National Nurses Week Wall of Gratitude here.

Advocating for Nurses
Nurses take an oath to practice the profession faithfully. However, the reality the last 15 months revealed is that many healthcare workers are exposed to immense challenges and risks daily. This year’s National Nurses Week and always, Interim HealthCare commits to advocating for all nurses that consistently put the profession, patients and their families first. A powerful message from Interim HealthCare’s President and CEO, Jennifer Sheets, RN, MSN, restates the company’s allegiance to advocating for:

  • The essential worker status of all home healthcare providers and assured access to necessary protective equipment for themselves and their patients.
  • Building awareness for the case to increase home healthcare reimbursement rates which remain comparatively low for home health nurses, clinicians and other home healthcare paraprofessionals in contrast to the overarching benefit and public health value they deliver across the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Enhancing education around the field of post-acute care and highlighting home healthcare as a meaningful and purpose-filled nursing career path. Raising awareness about its professional benefits, such as a deeper connection with patients, full visibility into their health journey through one-on-one care and flexible, predictable schedules.
  • Educating, training and equipping healthcare professionals (both early career and seasoned) with development opportunities and continued innovation in the home healthcare delivery process anchored in holistic, patient-centered support.

You may read Jennifer Sheets’ Open Letter to Nurses here.

Through a collaborative partnership with American College of Education (ACE), Interim HealthCare is demonstrating its commitment to nurse-centered advocacy by offering:

  • Two sponsored scholarships to a first-of-its-kind Certificate in Telehealth program, developed by ACE. Two nurses will be randomly selected to attend this online program (at no cost) and in turn, advance their skills and professional expertise. The certificate and three continuing education units (CEU) are earned by taking the following three courses over a five-week session: Trends in Telehealth Delivery, Telehealth Leadership & Management, and Legal and Ethical Issues in Telehealth. Nurses can learn more and enter the drawing for the scholarship giveaway here: https://bit.ly/IE_CTH
  • A live webinar designed to build awareness among licensed nurses around the rewarding and underappreciated aspects of post-acute care. The live course, hosted by clinical and academic leaders, will review the transformational role post-acute nursing provides patients and their families, their identity and meaningful impact as a nurse and to the community at large. Offered for free, licensed nurses will earn one CEU credit and receive a certificate of completion by attending the webinar and participating in the live Q&A that follows.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. EST

“Nurses across our healthcare system consistently put the well-being of others before themselves – as a nurse myself, I understand these sacrifices and have immense gratitude for their commitment,” said Jennifer Sheets, Interim HealthCare Inc. president and CEO. “The unyielding demand on nurses over the last year has tested both professional and personal limits at times, but our nurses never backed down. Nurses carried this country through a historic period in modern medicine and please know that Interim HealthCare is beyond grateful for your role. We will always elevate the nursing profession and advocate for your value, safety and health on the job.”

Among the many interactive activities planned for the week, nurses may also enter to win multiple “Beyond Gratitude: Appreciate | Advocate” 2021 Nurses Week prizes including two $500 gift cards and daily drawings of $100 gift cards to allheart.com, the nation’s leading online supplier of medical apparel, footwear, accessories and personal diagnostic equipment. Interim HealthCare Inc. Launches HomeLife Enrichment® for Diabetes Standard of Care

2021-03-30T16:46:55-04:00March 30th, 2021|Tags: , , , , |

Timed with National Nutrition Month®, Interim HealthCare unveils empowering, proprietary approach to holistic care for those with diabetes.

SUNRISE, Fla.Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home healthcare, personal care, healthcare staffing, and hospice services, is launching the latest offering in its HomeLife Enrichment® series focused on the chronic condition of diabetes. Interim HealthCare’s program supports the patient holistically through mind, body, spirit and family dimensions. As an extension of the doctor’s office, a comprehensive standard of care, this proprietary approach empowers the newly diagnosed person living with diabetes and their loved ones with valuable information about the impact nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress and medication has on healthy body function.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 34 million Americans (or one in 10 people) are living with diabetes, and 90-95 percent of those diagnosed have Type 2 diabetes. For the family and caregivers of those people, understanding how to confidently support and navigate a new diagnosis plays an integral role in the ongoing management of the condition. Enabling the lifestyle changes recommended after a diagnosis through the unique power home-centered care provides can significantly lessen the symptoms associated with diabetes and ideally prolong the quality of life for the individual impacted by the disease, and their loved ones.

“As home healthcare professionals, we enter the lives and homes of individuals and their families to see them through very personal, oftentimes emotional, healthcare journeys,” said Jennifer Sheets, Interim HealthCare Inc. president and CEO. “We believe, with the right support, anyone can experience a more rewarding and independent lifestyle. Anchored by our more than 25 years in diabetic chronic care, we are empowered to share our exclusive and multi-faceted standard of care with the millions of Americans who are on this journey with their family members living with diabetes.”

A key element of Interim HealthCare’s HomeLife Enrichment® for Diabetes standard of care is its new resource, “Caring for a Loved one with Diabetes” (caregiver guide). As the next focus of its chronic care management and education mission, the caregiver guide is debuting to coincide with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics‘ National Nutrition Month® which promotes the importance of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits – both critical in diabetes management.

The timing of this guide also parallels the industry’s recovery from trends that have persisted since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic – it serves as a critical asset in the shift toward better health and care management moving forward. The caregiver guide is expected to be most impactful to mitigate challenges caused by:

  • Medical practices and hospitals that shut down last spring to non-essential care and services, leaving millions of people managing high-risk chronic conditions such as diabetes to defer care and treatments.
  • Americans broadly showing a heightened focus on their personal health and well-being who are receiving delayed or overdue diabetes diagnoses.

The caregiver guide equips families with the tools and insights needed to care for the whole individual, not just one facet of their disease management. This approach gives household and extended family members a holistic view of diabetes care and how interconnected each aspect is with big-picture outcomes. Through exploration of the care process, families will understand what their loved one needs and how best to care for them in ways that improve mental, emotional and physical health:

  • Mind: Caring for the mind involves knowledge, insight and understanding of the new diagnosis which lead to actions that produce new habits and positively impact outcomes.
  • Body: A crucial part of managing diabetes and minimizing other serious health risks associated with it requires commitment to caring for the body including nutrition, exercise and sleep as well as care for the skin, feet, oral hygiene, and eye health.
  • Spirit: A diabetes diagnosis can be emotional. In addition to necessary lifestyle changes, caring for a person’s spirit is the most compassionate form of care there is. It can lead to a more positive outlook, offers support for their emotions, and inspires joy amid their health challenges.
  • Family: Family also plays a key role in the care process. Care for the family involves educating, guiding and supporting those caring for a loved one with diabetes. It fosters understanding, helps improve outcomes and encourages self-care.

“Living with and managing diabetes is absolutely possible,” said Sheets. “I watched my father manage his diabetes, even with the complex and early-onset Type 1 diagnosis, with great commitment through the power of knowledge – and he had the quality of life to prove it. As a healthcare provider and industry leader, we hope this resource encourages positive lifestyle changes so that those with diabetes don’t see it as a life sentence but rather an opportunity to help empower and enable a life without limits.”

Interim HealthCare’s proprietary training programs enable home health clinicians and paraprofessionals to perform at the top of their license and provide valuable education and assistance. With more than 55 years’ experience caring for people, and as the First in Home Care®, Interim HealthCare’s multi-disciplinary care teams support clients living with diabetes in familiar surroundings – at home or in assisted living communities.

This unique home-based focus provides a more intimate and unedited view into an individual’s daily life. It also creates an effective education partnership with the individual’s primary care provider or doctor in the hospital. Often, the education provided by a physician isn’t enough for the true impact of a diabetes diagnosis to sink in. By extending that education into a “real-life” setting, home health clinicians and paraprofessionals get a total view of the patient to better inform a tailored care plan. An in-home support system also has insight into what matters to people most. This difference results in care plans that account for their specific support needs, personal motivations and obstacles, and adherence tendencies for improved health management and ideally a better quality of life.

Interim HealthCare specialty programs fall under its HomeLife Enrichment® standard of care offerings. Currently, these span cognitive care with a focus on dementia, COVID-19, and other chronic care conditions with more planned in the next 18 months.

Download the free diabetes caregiver guide here and learn more about Interim HealthCare’s diabetes program by reaching out to a locally owned and operated office. Access the office locater at https://www.interimhealthcare.com/locations/.

Findings Show the 65+ Population Feels More Self-Sufficient, Has Embraced New Hobbies and Is More Comfortable Using Technology, Compared to One Year Ago.

BALTIMORE — One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, released findings of its Seniors: One Year in Quarantine survey, which explores attitudes and behaviors of adults aged 65+ since March 2020, along with their feelings toward the future. Surprisingly, a majority of seniors (72%) reported they feel safer and more comfortable seeing friends and family now, even without having been vaccinated themselves. At the time of this release, more than half of seniors reported they still hadn’t received the vaccine. But after a year of social distancing and quarantining, 88% of respondents also consider themselves just as, if not more, self-sufficient when compared to pre-pandemic times. While the senior population has been one of the most vulnerable groups during the pandemic, Senior Helpers’ study found that most older adults have been able to find the silver lining amid a tough situation.

“In light of the pandemic, it could be far too easy to only view seniors as fragile and vulnerable; however, this survey proved that our elders are quite the opposite — with a majority of seniors having learned new hobbies and becoming more comfortable with technology like Zoom, FaceTime and telemedicine,” said Peter Ross, Senior Helpers CEO. “Seniors are the backbone of society and it’s gratifying to learn that, for many, their physical, mental and emotional health has been maintained and even strengthened during these trying times.”

According to the survey, today, seniors have an appetite for adventure — 71% of respondents reported that they have NOT traveled in the last year but 60% plan to do so in the year ahead. They also say they have embraced and adopted new pastimes during COVID, including baking, watching TV and playing online games.

Other interesting findings include:

  • 45% of seniors have utilized telehealth/telemedicine over the past year
  • 53% of seniors said they have made peace with the current COVID situation
  • 65% of seniors surveyed believe people are kinder or just as kind since before the pandemic hit a year ago

Social distancing had negative impacts, according to survey findings. In fact, 60% of senior respondents admit to feeling less connected with family and friends since the start of the pandemic. While nearly 40% of seniors saw their families five times or more during the course of the past year, approximately 64% say their visits were still considerably less than pre-pandemic times. This may be the cause of 42% of seniors experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, isolation or other mental health concerns over the past year.

For seniors who are coping with social isolation, Ross explains care companions are a great solution to provide seniors with the social support they need to age in place more happily, safely and comfortably. Beyond professional in-home care, Senior Helpers strives to help maintain seniors’ wellbeing, prevent feelings of depression and bring more fun to their lives.

Ross continued, “At Senior Helpers, we strive to provide a better quality of life for our elderly clients and their families, no matter the circumstances. We always try to find the bright side and our caregivers look to create moments of joy in any situation.”

Interim HealthCare Inc. Continues Strong Momentum with Latest Acquisition; Representing One of Three Bold Strategic Moves for Parent Company, Caring Brands International

2021-02-11T09:15:34-05:00February 11th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

Business expansion, most recently in San Diego, signals strategic plans for increased access and growth in home healthcare support and services in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Caring Brands International (CBI), the company that owns the leading franchisors of global home healthcare services in each of the markets it serves including Interim HealthCare, today announced the completion of three significant home healthcare franchise acquisitions in the last six months. By bringing these locations into the CBI portfolio, the company is building on its strong momentum and commitment to help meet growing home healthcare, hospice and support needs for its customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Australia and Saudi Arabia.

The most recent acquisition of the home health and hospice operations of Interim HealthCare of San Diego, which successfully closed in January 2021, marks the first managed acquisition within the Interim HealthCare network domestically in over a decade. Operating as a stand-alone subsidiary of CBI offering home health and hospice services, this location can now focus on building out its current business footprint and delivering on its growth potential to support even more lives served in the region.

“In preparing my exit plan for retirement, I was grateful to have many options,” said Wendy Olayvar, 12-year franchise owner of Interim HealthCare of San Diego. “I spent my career supporting the comprehensive home healthcare and hospice needs of the San Diego community, which made it my driving concern to leave a legacy that would be maintained to benefit our amazing employees and the clients, patients and families we so proudly serve. Having the business return to Interim HealthCare Inc. makes me both excited and gratified that this team’s hard work and dedication will continue forward and ultimately enable them to serve more lives in the San Diego area.”

“We are honored that Wendy chose this path as part of her retirement plan. As we have witnessed throughout 2020, the demand for delivering high-quality home-based healthcare services has never been more essential especially during a public health emergency,” said Jennifer Sheets, president and CEO of Caring Brands International and Interim HealthCare Inc. “With our latest acquisition of Interim HealthCare of San Diego, we are excited to support the growth of strategically selected managed locations in the United States that will help even more patients obtain the quality care they need in the preferred and most efficient and effective site of care: their home.”

Despite a recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, patient and customer need for a full continuum of home healthcare and support services has only continued to grow globally. As COVID-19 unfolded, hospitals and health care systems turned to home healthcare leaders like Interim HealthCare for support in helping to manage the surge, by treating discharged and less acute patients, and keeping them safe at home. In addition, the U.S.-based 55-year-old company has helped to professionally staff COVID-19 clinical needs in hospitals, long-term care facilities and for screening, testing and vaccination sites.

In other recent examples of CBI’s investment in its growth and ability to meet increasing home healthcare needs around the world, the organization made strategic acquisitions related to its Bluebird Care brand in Ireland and its Just Better Care operations in Australia.

  • Purchase of Northern Sydney Just Better Care Location (November 2020): Just Better Care, the leading home care provider in Australia, acquired local Sydney franchise location Just Better Care Northern Suburbs. The acquisition of Just Better Care Northern Suburbs strengthens Just Better Care Australia’s support of the Sydney-area senior community and those seeking in-home care services. The Northern Suburbs territory is managed through Just Better Care’s Northern Beaches location under the name of Just Better Care Northern beaches and Northern Suburbs.
  • Purchase of Ireland Bluebird Care Master Franchise Agreement (June 2020): Bluebird Care Franchises Limited recently acquired the Irish Master Franchise business from Clemac Ltd. The transaction enabled the Bluebird Care brand franchising rights throughout Ireland, which currently holds 26 franchise locations. Bluebird Care franchise owners in Ireland are now more directly part of the wider Bluebird Care Franchise Network which includes England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and provides more direct access to award-winning, wide-ranging franchise support and services.

Interim HealthCare Ranked No. 1 in Senior Care on Entrepreneur’s 2021 Franchise 500® for Third Consecutive Year

2021-02-05T21:46:57-05:00February 5th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

With over five decades of experience building a thriving franchise network, Interim HealthCare offers opportunities for both long-term business success and individual career growth.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care and personal care, healthcare staffing, and hospice services, ranked No. 1 in the Senior Care category of Entrepreneur magazine’s annual Franchise 500®. This marks the company’s third consecutive year achieving this ranking, while also moving up 40 spots in 2021 to No. 101 overall. The Franchise 500® is the world’s first, best and most comprehensive franchise ranking.

Interim HealthCare has a long history of providing franchise offerings that span the continuum of care. The company is currently mobilizing its nationwide franchise network to assist with staffing COVID-19 vaccine distribution centers to ensure the efficient delivery to seniors, essential workers and eventually the full U.S. population. In addition, the company is focused on filling the ongoing demand for healthcare workers with jobseekers who have a passion for service in the home healthcare space.

“I’m proud of our franchisees’ continued dedication to providing quality care to patients in the preferred and most efficient site of care: their home. The value of home-based care has become particularly relevant, especially in light of challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has created for stakeholders of our country’s complex healthcare ecosystem,” said Jennifer Sheets, president and CEO of Interim HealthCare. “This recognition validates our differentiation as a franchise brand in not only supporting the increased demand of the aging population, but also providing a full range of home healthcare services from complex medical care to hospice. It also further demonstrates Interim HealthCare’s sustained growth potential as a stable, timeless, multiple service line and revenue stream business opportunity.”

Placement in the Franchise 500® is a highly sought-after franchise industry honor making it one of the company’s most competitive rankings ever. Recognized as an invaluable resource for potential franchisees, the Franchise 500® ranks companies based on outstanding performance in areas including unit growth, financial strength and stability, and brand power.

“2020 was a challenging year for everyone, but it was also a year of unusual opportunity,” says Jason Feifer, Entrepreneur editor-in-chief. “Franchises were able to be nimble and innovative, serving the needs of franchisees and customers in ways that will resonate for many years to come. We believe that, when we eventually look back on this time, we’ll see it as a moment when many brands defined themselves for the future.”

Interim HealthCare worked tirelessly over the past year to empower its franchise owners to connect with communities and national leaders, helping to answer the call for COVID-19 support. As a result, the company has risen as one of the most successful business opportunities for future owners and operators, proven by its strong leadership through the pandemic. Some of its many innovative responses to the crisis included:

  • Introducing the first specialty program specifically designed to address and support the unique challenges of those diagnosed with COVID-19, based on the company’s proprietary HomeLife Enrichment® standard of care.
  • Creating a trailblazing solution to address the PPE shortage by sourcing and procuring fairly priced critical inventory and offering it to the home care industry globally. This ensured that all safety precautions could be followed by Interim HealthCare’s network of franchise owners and operators to protect and care for patients and employees.
  • Pushing for advocacy and awareness at the state and federal levels for home healthcare’s recognition as a mission-critical part of the complex healthcare ecosystem, by ensuring inclusion of home healthcare as “essential workers” and enabling owners and staff to continue providing their crucial services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Launching Made For This, a nationwide, purpose-driven recruiting campaign. Among its target audiences are those suffering job loss or displacement in other customer-service related sectors (food service, retail, hospitality) who are invited to consider a new career path in home healthcare.

In Entrepreneur’s continuing effort to best understand and evaluate the ever-changing franchise marketplace, the company’s 42-year-old ranking formula continues to evolve as well. The key factors that go into the evaluation include costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500® in ranking order.
