As a newer franchisee of Wisdom Senior Care, Brenetta Bethea’s business has been up and running in Charlotte, North Carolina, since January. Before becoming a franchisee, Bethea was tenured for 20-plus years in corporate health care as a human-resources professional and worked her way up to the director level. After being displaced in 2019, Bethea went on to earn her MBA and then became an independent contractor for a popular historic community health center. In this role, Bethea’s eyes were suddenly opened to the urgency of the real needs of the underserved. As a natural-born nurturer, Bethea decided that her whole being and purpose was to follow a life of servitude through business ownership to help those in need.

Knowing that health care was her wheelhouse, Bethea began looking into different business options in the health-care industry. For her to get started – and since her corporate roles had her so far removed from the most critical part of her industry – the people – Bethea began researching state-certified trainers.

Her search took her to Wisdom Senior Care, and from the moment she received an immediate response from Chief Operating Officer Charles Thurston, Bethea was impressed. From there, Bethea found that the loyalty and core values displayed by Thurston and his wife Carolyn Thurston, CEO of Wisdom Senior Care, aligned with her own. They were everything she was looking for in a business. According to Bethea, the brand checked all her boxes, and partnering with Wisdom has been effortless.

Bethea said: “Charles was so gracious. Charles and Carolyn are the salt of the earth. I tell you, they are authentic, genuine people. It’s refreshing to be acquainted with them.” Bethea is looking forward to a future of growth and fulfillment through helping others with Wisdom supporting her along the way.

Simone Galloway, also a new Wisdom Senior Care franchisee, has been building her business since November 2021. She began her career in the health-care industry as a certified medical assistant. She later studied to become a surgical technician, a position she has held since 2006. All the while, Galloway aspired to become a registered nurse and open her own agency or start a medical transportation service with wheelchair accessibility. Neither business came to fruition. However, through a series of events, she is now the proud owner of Wisdom Senior Care in Long Island, New York.

Before becoming a franchisee, Galloway woke up one night unable to sleep and feeling anxious. She began searching for business opportunities online, and Wisdom Senior Care came up by chance, along with two other options. After conversations with Charles, Galloway said: “Charles was very informative, and it was like a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other two franchises that called me.”

Galloway respects and admires how the husband-and-wife team runs Wisdom Senior Care based on faith and morals, and she appreciates how they stand behind their caregivers. Galloway said: “I just felt at home. It wasn’t even a second thought. They are wonderful, genuine people, and anyone who comes across them and knows them is blessed.”

Galloway, who is deeply empathetic, especially toward the elderly, is most looking forward to helping even a small portion of the senior population, ensuring they are taken care of in the safety and comfort of their own homes by loyal and respected caregivers.
