TAMPA, Fla.College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving®, an award-winning company and industry leader in stress-free solutions for moving and junk-hauling needs, announced today that Sean Lewis is the grand prize winner of The Pitch, a contest developed specifically for military veterans. Lewis will be awarded a free franchise with the full-service moving company. The contest was open to U.S. veterans who served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the winner of The Pitch Contest. The Pitch was a way to show our appreciation for military members who sacrifice so much for our country and to attract more military members to our franchise family,” said Dana Hansen, Director of Franchise Development for College HUNKS. “Military members tend to perform at an extremely high level and experience tremendous success with College HUNKS because of our culture that is built on similar values that are embraced in the military.”

Lewis served as an officer in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. He currently serves as the Director of Sports, Fitness and Aquatics for the Army’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Directorate in Fort Bliss, Texas. He used all his military experience to build the organization from a concept to fully mission capable in six months, which included establishing a vision, mission statement and marketing to the senior leadership at Fort Bliss; hiring personnel, acquiring office space, and building a team that became the most productive of nine other centers being stood up at the same time.

“It was my sincere pleasure to take Sean through our discovery process and he was an absolute joy to work with from our very first conversation. His enthusiasm is contagious, and it was clear early on that he really loves our culture and that we share the same core values,” continued Hansen. “He’s clearly been a tremendous mentor in his career in the US Army, retiring as a Lt. Col and even after retirement continuing to work with and develop future leaders at the US Army’s Human Performance Ready and Resilient Center of Excellence at Fort Bill, TX. We had tremendous candidates, but Sean is the best of the best.”

“As a Top-rated Franchise for Veterans for more than 10 years, we are proud to join forces with veterans to create a better future for them and to grow our company together,” concluded Hansen. Across the College HUNKS system, veterans make up close to 15% of owners.

Former Miami Football Standout Opens College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving in Miami

Ahmmon Richards Partners with Father and Co-Founders to Break Ground in New Territory

MIAMICollege HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving, an award-winning franchise and industry leader in the junk removal and moving sectors, recently announced the expansion of the brand’s Florida footprint with the addition of their newest franchise location in Miami. The expansion officially positions the ‘Sunshine State’ as the most active territory in the country for the College HUNKS team.

The new location is owned by the father-and-son duo of Ahmmon Richards, a former University of Miami football standout and his father, Mark Richards. Together, they will be responsible for the operations of this newest addition to the franchise – College HUNKS 305 – where their primary goal will be to build the business into a multi-million dollar enterprise capable of supporting continued growth for both themselves and the people of Miami.

After an incredibly successful high school football career, Ahmmon had committed to play for the University of Miami in 2016. His collegiate experience was then cut short during the 2018 football season after he suffered a career-ending neck injury. A text from Murphy three years later on the opportunities that existed with the College HUNKS brand piqued his interest in the business and propelled both he and his father to become business owners of their own.

“This industry reminds me a lot of being in a football atmosphere, and the core values of the company reason resonated with me,” said Ahmmon. “It was really a no-brainer at that point. I get to run a business with my dad and start a new chapter of my life in the city I love.”

Ahmmon has proven instrumental in helping widen the franchise landscape for College HUNKS through the utilization of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals with a variety of prominent college athletes. D’Eriq King and Bubba Bolden, both current or former University of Miami football players, being successful examples he’s spearheaded. The franchise plans on leveraging the NIL landscape to market and grow the scale of their operation in Miami through the hiring of a large number of college athletes to join the College HUNKS team.

College HUNKS has been a purpose-driven company since its founding days, dedicated to serving communities with a team of trustworthy and dependable professionals providing the highest quality moving and junk removal services. In line with its community-centric focus, the Miami location plans to support the key causes of College HUNKS locally, including fighting childhood hunger and supporting victims of domestic violence, among a variety of other local charitable organizations.

“When I first met Ahmmon, it became clear t me that he was a perfect match for our brand,” says Omar Soliman, Co-Founder of College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving. “Ahmmon is the living embodiment of our company’s core values. Having him on board is incredibly beneficial for our brand as a whole and I can think of no better individual to lead the charge for our expansion in Miami.”

College HUNKS 305 plans to serve the entire Miami region by offering fast, flexible and dependable moving and junk removal services. With a staff of nearly two dozen employees, the franchise aims to quickly become the go-to option for the community.

College Hunks Hauling Junk And Moving® Makes Historic Move, Sponsors Howard University Men’s Basketball

2021-11-29T12:41:46-05:00November 29th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

The first company to endorse a Historically Black College & University team in the NIL era.

WASHINGTON — College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving®, a national industry leader in moving and junk-removal, recently signed a historic endorsement deal with the Howard University Men’s Basketball players. This deal marks the first full-team endorsement of a Historically Black College & University, and the sponsorship covers the entire roster for the 2021-2022 season. College HUNKS celebrated the moment with the Howard basketball players at a signing event at the original HUNKS headquarters in Rockville, MD.

“One of our Core Values is Building Leaders, so we are proud to support college athletes as they set the path for their future endeavors,” said Nick Friedman, Co-Founder of College HUNKS. “This partnership holds even more significance since Washington, D.C. is where Omar and I were born and raised and where College HUNKS originated as a business. Our sponsorship of the Howard University Men’s Basketball players also ushers in a new era for NIL in the Washington D.C. metro area and, more importantly, for HBCU athletes nationwide.”

College HUNKS is an iconic brand, and Howard University is an iconic institution, so it makes sense to align our mutual passions for building leaders,” said Tai Bibbs, Men’s Basketball Team Captain at Howard University. “My teammates and I are looking forward to partnering with College HUNKS to promote their amazing employment opportunities for frontline staff, their moving and hauling services for clients, as well as their franchise opportunities for aspiring business owners.”

Since the NCAA passed a new policy that opened up sponsorship opportunities for college athletes, College HUNKS has shown its support across the country. The company launched into these efforts by being the first to sign a collegiate athlete when they teamed up with University of Miami Quarterback D’Eriq King. The brand also signed the University of Central Florida Women’s Basketball players, the first female team to receive a NIL deal. And most recently signed a deal with the San Diego State football team and are exploring other sponsorship opportunities in key markets. College HUNKS partnered with NOCAP Sports, which specializes in connecting brands with college athletes, to sponsor the Howard Basketball team, in which NOCAP coordinated with player Khalil Robinson and team captains Tai Bibbs, Steve Settle III and Randall Brumant.

“Our business started as an underdog with a beat-up cargo van in college, so aligning with student-athletes that historically have not received large media attention is important to our brand purpose. College HUNKS has a diverse team, and we strive to brighten the spotlight within and outside of our brand to build leaders and make a positive impact,” continued Friedman. “By sponsoring the Howard University players and being the first to partner with an HBCU basketball team, we hope to inspire and help people across the country learn about the amazing employment opportunities with our company as well as opportunities for financial freedom through franchise ownership.”

Howard University holds a distinctive significance to College HUNKS Co-Founders Nick Friedman and Omar Soliman. The duo grew up in Washington D.C. and attended Howard University homecoming events during their youth. Friedman also played on the Howard University intramural club basketball team and won the national championship with the team in 2007.

“Community engagement is at our core, and when we are able to partner – whether that be through college athlete endorsements or the numerous social causes that our franchise partners pursue throughout the year – we can further live our values and company purpose that help distinguish our brand,” added Friedman.

College HUNKS has several franchise locations in the greater D.C. Metropolitan area, including Northern Virginia, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Annapolis, Bel Air, Frederick, Upper Marlboro, and Washington, DC.
