Leading provider of in-home care awarded prestigious industry designation spotlighting employee satisfaction.

BALTIMORE — Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, today announced it has achieved the prestigious, Great Place to Work® certification for the third consecutive year. As the first and only national in-home care company to be awarded this distinction since earning the initial recognition in 2019, Senior Helpers’ rapidly growing business is continually dedicated to providing safe, quality and compassionate care to older adults and their families. Since 2019, Senior Helpers has opened 48 new locations across the U.S. and has a strong pipeline of new openings for the remainder of 2021.

It’s rewarding to me and the rest of the executive team to know our team members and caregivers consistently report a positive experience with our company — something that hasn’t changed even as our business has expanded. Afterall, we firmly believe that happy employees provide the best care for deserving seniors.”

Senior Helpers was granted this prominent designation by Great Place to Work for the third year after undergoing a rigorous, data-driven evaluation which considers more than 60 elements of the team member experience derived from surveys and feedback from more than 12,000 employees, regardless of their role in the organization. National Survey by Senior Helpers Suggests Seniors are Thriving and Ready to Return to Normalcy After a Year in Quarantine

2021-03-18T11:01:40-04:00March 18th, 2021|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Findings Show the 65+ Population Feels More Self-Sufficient, Has Embraced New Hobbies and Is More Comfortable Using Technology, Compared to One Year Ago.

BALTIMORE — One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Senior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, released findings of its Seniors: One Year in Quarantine survey, which explores attitudes and behaviors of adults aged 65+ since March 2020, along with their feelings toward the future. Surprisingly, a majority of seniors (72%) reported they feel safer and more comfortable seeing friends and family now, even without having been vaccinated themselves. At the time of this release, more than half of seniors reported they still hadn’t received the vaccine. But after a year of social distancing and quarantining, 88% of respondents also consider themselves just as, if not more, self-sufficient when compared to pre-pandemic times. While the senior population has been one of the most vulnerable groups during the pandemic, Senior Helpers’ study found that most older adults have been able to find the silver lining amid a tough situation.

“In light of the pandemic, it could be far too easy to only view seniors as fragile and vulnerable; however, this survey proved that our elders are quite the opposite — with a majority of seniors having learned new hobbies and becoming more comfortable with technology like Zoom, FaceTime and telemedicine,” said Peter Ross, Senior Helpers CEO. “Seniors are the backbone of society and it’s gratifying to learn that, for many, their physical, mental and emotional health has been maintained and even strengthened during these trying times.”

According to the survey, today, seniors have an appetite for adventure — 71% of respondents reported that they have NOT traveled in the last year but 60% plan to do so in the year ahead. They also say they have embraced and adopted new pastimes during COVID, including baking, watching TV and playing online games.

Other interesting findings include:

  • 45% of seniors have utilized telehealth/telemedicine over the past year
  • 53% of seniors said they have made peace with the current COVID situation
  • 65% of seniors surveyed believe people are kinder or just as kind since before the pandemic hit a year ago

Social distancing had negative impacts, according to survey findings. In fact, 60% of senior respondents admit to feeling less connected with family and friends since the start of the pandemic. While nearly 40% of seniors saw their families five times or more during the course of the past year, approximately 64% say their visits were still considerably less than pre-pandemic times. This may be the cause of 42% of seniors experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, isolation or other mental health concerns over the past year.

For seniors who are coping with social isolation, Ross explains care companions are a great solution to provide seniors with the social support they need to age in place more happily, safely and comfortably. Beyond professional in-home care, Senior Helpers strives to help maintain seniors’ wellbeing, prevent feelings of depression and bring more fun to their lives.

Ross continued, “At Senior Helpers, we strive to provide a better quality of life for our elderly clients and their families, no matter the circumstances. We always try to find the bright side and our caregivers look to create moments of joy in any situation.”

Leading In-Home Senior Care Provider Named to Coveted List for Tenth Consecutive Year.

BALTIMORESenior Helpers®, the nation’s premier provider of in-home senior care, has been ranked #135 on Entrepreneur‘s 2021 Franchise 500 list. This is the tenth consecutive year the company has been recognized, jumping 114 spots from last year. Of the 500 companies listed, Senior Helpers was named among the top-ranked national homecare providers, taking the second spot in the at-home care category. As more families look to in-home care for their loved ones, especially during the global pandemic, this recognition validates Senior Helpers’ services as essential and vital to keeping seniors healthy and independent.

“We are honored to make Entrepreneur‘s list of top franchise businesses for the tenth year in a row, proving our nationwide network continues to provide valuable investment opportunities for entrepreneurs,” said Rob Cantrell, VP of Franchise Development at Senior Helpers. “Our company is built upon a diverse network of franchisees that value safe and quality care for each and every one of our clients. Whether they have a background in marketing, sales or operations, we offer amazing training programs and franchisee support to ensure the success of every location.”

Senior Helpers operates with a vision to be the leading home care company in each community it serves. Its caregivers are trained to offer the highest level of care possible based on the company’s Senior Gems® Alzheimer’s and dementia care program. As the highest measure of excellence in personalized in-home senior care, the program was developed in conjunction with nationally recognized dementia care expert Teepa Snow, Positive Approach, LLC. Local residents will also benefit from the company’s Parkinson’s Care Program, a specialized training program for their caregivers created in conjunction with leading experts from the Parkinson’s Foundation’s Centers of Excellence network.

“2020 was a challenging year for everyone, but it was also a year of unusual opportunity,” says Jason Feifer, Entrepreneur editor-in-chief. “Franchises were able to be nimble and innovative, serving the needs of franchisees and customers in ways that will resonate for many years to come. We believe that, when we eventually look back on this time, we’ll see it as a moment when many brands defined themselves for the future.”

As COVID-19 cases spike across the country, the company has consistently taken unprecedented steps to ensure the safety of its caregivers, staff and clients. Senior Helpers was one of the first home care providers to source and ship the necessary PPE to every Senior Helpers location nationwide. The company continually offers updated protocols in weekly communications within the organization on COVID-19 so that staff feel comfortable and prepared. The organization offers extensive staff training with courses that include topics such as Hand Hygiene, Infection Control, Influenza Prevention and Transmission-Based Precaution — all so that clients can age safely and gracefully in the comfort of their own home.

More than 1,000 companies applied for this year’s ranking, according to Entrepreneur. To see the full list of the Franchise 500, click here. Results can also be seen in the publication’s January/February 2021 issue.
