BrightStar Care® is a nationwide franchise that provides a higher standard of quality in-home care. In December 2021, the brand commissioned Avalere Health to conduct a study that measured the client outcomes and cost benefits of BrightStar Care. By Cindy Charette

While playing baseball as a young boy, John Giblin looked over to a nearby highway, saw his first Corvette Sting Ray, and fell in love with the American automobile. Giblin’s love of cars has carved a pathway for him in the auto-repair industry. Servicing various communities for over four decades, Giblin has spent the last 20 years as a Mr. Transmission/Milex franchisee in Kankakee County, Illinois.

An active drag racer, outdoorsman, grandfather and husband, Giblin started in the auto repair industry as an apprentice mechanic working for Multistate Transmissions, where he managed the business for 16 years. When he learned that the owner of another franchise – under the Moran Family of Brands – was ready to retire, Giblin, with wife Joan by his side, decided it was time to make money for themselves. He easily transitioned into the role as franchise owner of Mr. Transmission/Milex in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

Having also served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a navigation officer, Giblin’s military leadership skills are reflected in the way he runs his business and treats his customers. His top-three takeaways from the service – morals, discipline, and honor – have transitioned well into business ownership.

“The most important thing is to be honest with your customer,” he said. Over the years, Giblin has earned the reputation of a reliable and trustworthy business owner, ensuring that each customer is taken care of with sound repair advice and high-quality service.

Giblin said, joking: “They bring me old cars because I’m an old guy, and I’ve been doing this for 42 years… I enjoy what I do, and the most important people are my customers. They know I will take care of their problems.”

Giblin is proud to represent the Moran Family of Brands and describes the culture as one big family. Being part of a large franchise group means there is support from the franchisor with a top-notch technical department, and the franchisees help one another and refer customers to each other as well.
