Well before she became the CEO and owner of Moran Family of Brands, Barbara Moran-Goodrich would go to work with her father, who had started Moran Industries in 1990 and acquired Mr. Transmission shortly after. As a young girl, she learned the ins and outs of every job in the company, and, after approximately 20 years in the business, she bought the company from her parents. Since then, Moran Family of Brands, one of the largest automotive aftermarket franchisors in the nation, has continued to be a multi-generational success story for franchisees across the U.S.

John Murph, owner of the Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Transmission/Milex bought the location from his father. While Murph had grown up in the business that his father owned for over three decades, he left it for several years to pursue a career as a musician. Even after touring the world and performing for the military in Iraq, Murph returned to what he calls home.

“My father was an icon with shops in Atlanta and Birmingham, and I grew up in it. It’s one of those things that gets in you, and you continue it,” Murph explained. When asked about the role that the brand has played in his family’s life, he added: “The name ‘Moran Family of Brands’ is the truth. It’s not just a marketing deal with them. No matter how big they get, they are on top of anything you need. It’s a family.”

Although he has only owned the family business for a year, Murph has produced record numbers for his store. “I’m in awe of what has happened and what God has done with us since February. It has been an unbelievable year for us with numbers that are off the charts. It’s like an 82% increase in revenue,” he said, adding that the team at his shop has been the root of his success.

With Mr. Transmission/Milex stores across the country breaking sales records every week, franchisees and their families are excited to see what other records they can break this year.
