All Hands on Deck for a Family of Entrepreneurs
As one of the leading national in-home caregiving franchises, Assisting Hands Home Care® embraces outstanding customer service and best-in-class care to support families and maintain a competitive edge in a thriving industry.
Considering the over-50 population segment contributes $8.3 trillion to the annual economy, a figure that is projected to rise to $12.6 trillion in 2030 when the first millennials turn 50, that edge is paramount to its success.
With 16 years of business to back it up, the brand offers entrepreneurs a seamless opportunity. Karvel Kofoed, CEO of Assisting Hands in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, can attest to the concept firsthand. When Kofoed, a CPA by trade, began researching franchises in 2022, Assisting Hands stood out to him immediately.
“Part of what attracted me was that we would have what they call a ‘business in a box,’ something that was a proven system,” Kofoed said. “We would have the national support team; having that network of people versus starting from scratch was the big attracting feature.”
Kofoed set out to build a business with his wife, two daughters and son-in-law that would guarantee financial freedom and fill a void. He’s excited to operate and support an underserved community.
“It does three things,” Kofoed explained. “It provides a good lifestyle for us, it provides a good service for those in need and it provides good jobs for people starting out in home care. We’d love to grow it and have it become a legacy business.”
Because an Assisting Hands franchise requires minimal startup costs, it’s easy to hit the ground running, which Kofoed considers an incredible advantage.
“One of the other great perks is that this franchising system wants to be a mentor, but they don’t want to run your business,” Kofoed said. “No one watches over us. It’s our business.”
While the Kofoeds consider themselves to be self-employed, they love being part of a caring franchise family.
“Assisting Hands provides a lot of resources, suggestions and advice,” he said.
Kofoed has a message for prospective entrepreneurs interested in Assisting Hands. He stated: “If this is something you want to make great, you can do it. Dive in and go for it!”
