In early 2026, Shawna and Tyler Field will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their beloved Assisting Hands® Home Care business in their Rockledge, Florida, hometown. Over the past decade, they’ve thrived on serving their community with passion, pride and integrity.

“We really love what we do. It’s a way to make a great living and provide a great service,” said Shawna, emphasizing the work-life balance of the franchise opportunity and “the difference that you can make.”

Assisting Hands supports seniors and individuals who require nonmedical assistance with personalized, high-level care in the comfort of their own homes. The purpose-driven company prioritizes outstanding customer service to satisfy the multifaceted needs of its clients.

The Fields entered the home care space in 2015, inspired by a mutual friend’s work at Assisting Hands’ national office. They founded an agency that grew rapidly, reaching 100 clients in three years. Their business now employs 17 office staff members and 300 caregivers, and it flourishes as one of the organization’s largest franchises.

For her part, Shawna sought to apply her experience as a dietitian to a dynamic leadership role.

“My husband and I were both looking for different careers. He had been looking for something service-related, something that could more fully serve our community,” she explained. “Home care sounded like a great mix of community involvement, serving other people and a way to make a good living and take care of our family.”

The business has allowed the couple to raise their four daughters, ages 13 to 20, and shape a rewarding legacy of hope that touches people’s hearts.

“Honestly, if Tyler and I didn’t own our own business, I’m not sure how we would juggle our family,” said Shawna. “The flexibility that this type of work offers is huge.”

The most gratifying part for the Fields is cultivating positive, ongoing relationships with their office team and, in turn, paying forward everything they’ve learned. To that end, they serve as area representatives for Assisting Hands, which allows them to mentor new franchisees.

“Because we like what we do, it just naturally flows into mentoring other people and helping other offices get started,” Shawna said. “We really enjoy that, and we find value in helping others.”

In this additional role, the Fields partner with the national office to recruit, train and collaborate with other franchise owners as an extra support line. That includes hosting monthly Google Meets, bridging offices together and sharing insights from everything they’ve learned throughout their tenure.

In addition to embracing mentorship, another core value of the Fields is being growth minded.

“We believe we’re the best home care provider in our area. If we can keep growing, that’s an opportunity to continue to care for more people and create positive jobs,” said Shawna.

The Fields also believe that the Assisting Hands franchise opportunity is wide open for prospective entrepreneurs looking to impact their communities.

“I really feel like home care is a growing industry,” Shawna said. “It’s been around for a while, but the interest and the need for home care is booming.”
