No matter the color of your skin or where your faith may lie, there remains one commonality: as long as life continues, there will be a need for senior care. Wisdom Senior Care takes pride in having a diverse community of franchisees, clients and caregivers.
”We have clients who are Jewish, African American, Hispanic and of Indian descent,” said Charles Thurston, chief operating officer of Wisdom Senior Care. “Over the last five years, we have seen things change, especially in cultures where the focus was on religion and family, so it has become more of a need now. First, we focus on being a blessing in the client’s life, offering courtesy and respect, and then we find out their needs so we can keep them happy.”
As the population in the U.S. ages, seniors may inevitably need assistance to stay safe in their own homes. “Seniors still have those daily needs that must be met. What we do and teach our franchisees is to focus on compassion – the main part of our core values. The most important thing is to be able to give our clients the quality of services that make the most sense to their situation,” Thurston said.
The Wisdom Senior Care franchise has a strategic partnership with a state-approved nursing school, Wisdom Health Academy, helping instill those core values in students and provide employment opportunities. With the Academy, Wisdom Senior Care promotes equality and inclusion while helping franchisees with recruitment efforts. “What is so beautiful is we have had students of every ethnic background you can think of come through those classes. So, in addition to education and training, we offer employment to our nurses, and they have taught us about their cultures too,” said Thurston.
“Two years ago, we had a community outreach event designed to educate our seniors on aging and dementia. We had several guest speakers and strategic partners in attendance, and now we are planning to have another community outreach event toward the end of 2022. We are excited about the future of Wisdom. thanks to the creative new ideas for the seniors coming from the next generation of young franchisees,” concluded Thurston.
