Strategic Acquisitions Drive Franchise Growth

Moran Family of Brands has gone global with the acquisition of Mister Transmission of Canada, establishing itself as a leading provider of automotive services and repairs in North America. With the goal of addressing the evolving needs of customers, the expansion includes the addition of 58 locations, bringing Moran Family of Brands to nearly 200 units in the U.S. and Canada that offer automotive aftermarket repairs, maintenance and accessories to consumers.

Mister Transmission of Canada is a great fit for Moran Family of Brands because of a shared dedication to building strong franchise systems focused on investing in people, operational excellence and long-term relationships.

“The acquisition was driven by alignment in values, culture and commitment to franchisee success,” Barbara Moran-Goodrich, CEO of Moran Family of Brands, said in a PR Newswire release. “We were not looking to grow for growth’s sake. We were looking for the right partner that respected the legacy of the brand while positioning it for long-term strength. This acquisition allows us to do exactly that.”

The combination of two organizations with strong, long-lasting reputations will benefit franchisees and clients by enhancing customer warranties, provider networks, operational performance and support across North America.

“This is a landmark moment for our company,” said Moran-Goodrich. “By bringing these two strong brands together, we are combining decades of technical expertise, shared values and operational excellence. Together, we can serve our customers even better, provide unmatched support to our franchisees and set a new standard for the North American automotive services industry.”

The acquisition of Mister Transmission of Canada expanded Moran Family of Brands’ portfolio to seven brands, including Mister Transmission of Canada, Mr. Transmission®, Milex Complete Auto Care, Turbo Tint, Multistate Transmissions, Dr. Nick’s Transmissions and Alta Mere. Services offered range from transmission and clutch repairs, transmission rebuilding and fleet programs to oil, brake and tune-up services, as well as air conditioning, radiator, cooling system and window film installation services.

Mister Transmission of Canada and Mr. Transmission operate under a combined leadership vision across both countries. With a shared leadership philosophy focused on protecting what works, supporting franchisees first and growing thoughtfully, the acquisition resulted in a smooth transition through collaboration and mutual respect for brand identities.

“A key focus moving forward is the intentional sharing of best practices from both organizations,” Peter Baldine, president of Moran Family of Brands, said. “Each system brings proven strengths in operations, marketing, technology and franchise support, and we are bringing those insights together to enhance the way we support franchisees across the network.”

The acquisition will provide immediate benefits to franchisees by enabling growth without disruption. All operations and support teams will continue to be available, while allowing strategic investments in training, technology and marketing enhancements.

“Operationally, the larger organization strengthens our purchasing power and vendor relationships, creating efficiencies and long-term cost advantages,” Baldine said. “From a technology standpoint, we now have greater resources to evaluate, invest in and implement systems that improve operational performance and the customer experience.”
