A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FRANCHISEE
While he was successful in his previous job as a data analyst, Jake Canterberry knew he was destined for something bigger and better – something that didn’t restrict him to a desk-bound job away from his family.
Spartan Floor Coatings, an emerging brand that specializes in luxury floor coating solutions, provided him not only with opportunities but also with personal fulfillment. As a proven home-based franchise in the thriving U.S. home improvement market, Spartan Floor Coatings offers comprehensive support and innovative tools to help franchisees build a successful business.
“The Spartan franchise team has been amazing,” said Canterberry. “They have been there every step of the way, from my original onboarding and training to the marketing and lead generation… From generating 80 to 100 leads a month as well as a top-of-the-line product, the Spartan franchise opportunity takes the headache out of starting a business from scratch.”
Canterberry, who opened his Stuart, Florida, location in February 2024, has already experienced tremendous growth, landing a $100,000 contract with a local builder and growing his team and fleet of vans within a year. He’s even expanded his business offerings and now provides painting and cabinet installations. The success has paid off in more ways than one.
“Becoming a Spartan franchise owner has given me a great work-life balance, allowing me to continue being a provider as well as a more present father and husband,” said Canterberry.
As the brand expands across the U.S., Canterberry intends to follow suit. Within the next eight years, he plans to have 10 full-time crews – and with Spartan’s support, his business prospects look promising.
Here’s a glimpse of a day in the life of a Spartan Floor Coatings franchisee:
- 5 a.m. Canterberry prepares for the day by reviewing jobs lined up, building sales folders and checking emails.
- 6:30 a.m. The owner and his team meet up, go to the storage unit and gather materials for the day. Within an hour, they’re at their first jobsite, prioritizing the customer’s needs.
- 9 a.m. Once his team begins working, Canterberry leaves the jobsite and focuses on in-home consultations and sales calls. Before the work is finished, he checks in on the jobsite, ensuring satisfaction and collecting payment.
- 3 p.m. After all jobs have been completed for the day, Canterberry makes remaining sales calls and schedules appointments.
- 6 p.m. Canterberry is ready to wrap up his work and heads home to enjoy the evening with his family.
