Vic and Stephanie Lashley, the husband-and-wife team behind Southpaw Gym have created a no-frills space for members ages 4 and up. Dedicated to strengthening all aspects of a person, including their body, mind and soul, the Lashleys created a unique boxing and mixed martial arts gym that provides training while offering educational classes and seminars for members. The seminars and memberships attract people no matter their athleticism or boxing history, from law enforcement officials and firefighters to teachers and real estate agents.

“We train everybody to be a fighter, with or without the fight,” Stephanie said.

Southpaw Gym is known for its commitment to authentic, high-quality training in Western-style boxing and mixed martial arts led by a team of coaches who are certified, sanctioned and licensed through USA Boxing. “We go over the body mechanics, how to throw punches, the proper terminology, how to bob and weave and slip and duck, along with basic footwork. We teach you and break down the nuances and everything that is included in the science and art of boxing. You aren’t just there to break a sweat; you are there to learn,” Vic explained.

While most gyms solely focus on conditioning and fitness, Southpaw Gym promotes a full-body experience, attracting lifelong customers and many referrals. In addition to members gaining physical strength, Stephanie shared how many members have made large strides in personal wellness and growth. Benefits include stress relief, confidence building, self-defense and an outlet to express grief and depression. “One young man came to box with us after being severely bullied in school. He was able to feel more confident and stand up for himself, and the bullying stopped,” Stephanie said.

The brand is seeking franchisees with a servant’s heart and a calling to help others through the benefit of sports. A background in boxing and mixed martial arts is not required because franchisees will receive top-of-the-line training, but it is encouraged. With successful locations open in New Jersey, the Southpaw Gym group is excited to expand and impact more communities. Franchisees will receive comprehensive training and ongoing mentorship, covering everything from finding a location and negotiating a lease to completing administrative tasks and finalizing sales.
