Prior to becoming HomeWell Care Services franchisees, Samantha McCoy and her father, Tony Nole, worked together helping others with business startups. They eventually decided to use their talents to start a business of their own that would include other family members.

After looking at several options, HomeWell came up as a recommendation, and from their first phone call with corporate, they immediately fell in love with the concept. HomeWell was the family oriented, home health-care business they wanted to bring to their community.

In May 2019, they opened HomeWell Care Services in Roseville, California, with each member of their family contributing unique skills and expertise.

As president of marketing, McCoy maintains important account relationships. She also manages all referrals and attends client intake evaluations. She is looking forward to being involved in marketing events once again, but until then, she works on virtual relationship-building and sends cards or makes phone calls.

Her husband, Dustin McCoy, a licensed vocational nurse, handles care management, and is available 24/7 for clients to call with concerns or questions. He and his wife work on formal intakes, where he learns about clients’ medical needs, while also assessing their homes for safety. He also oversees the company’s training lab for newly hired caregivers.

Nole works behind the scenes in accounting and profit-and-loss management, while also running a business he took over from his grandfather, where he started working at age 15. Nole’s wife, Cristina, debriefs new hires and provides on-call chaplain services for any crisis that may come up for caregivers and sometimes clients. “We’re pleased we can offer this important resource for our caregivers because they are the lifeline of our agency,” Samantha McCoy said.

With the growth of their franchise, the family brought on another member, Amanda Schoppman, who is Samantha’s sister and the Noles’ daughter, who helps with recruiting and creating all formal documents needed to run the business.

Although working together as a family can be challenging at times, Samantha McCoy said each member wants to see the business succeed. “We know that at the end of the day, we have each other’s backs,” she said.
