Why Thespians (Actors) Make Great Salespeople
If your background contains some sort of theater work, you’re ahead of the game in the business world.
We can also include musicians, sports folks, cheerleaders, chorus dancing, singing, and a few other well-rounded activities.
Why? Because in these activities you’re taught very important basics that aren’t always taught in the classroom – or anywhere, actually.
- Listening skills
- Teamwork
- Knowing the applause is for everyone
- No complaining
- Spontaneity – having a Plan B
Certainly, there are more than these five; however, if you can master these five, you’re way ahead of the game.
I’m firmly convinced my stage theater career helped solidify my business career.
You may know the old theater saying: “There are no small parts; just small actors.” I’ve always enjoyed that saying.
What other skills do you feel helped you in your career? I certainly didn’t list them all. Love to hear from you – to see how we can help others.
