As a leader in the nonmedical home care industry, Assisting Hands® Home Care provides personalized care to seniors and others in the comfort of their homes. Assisting Hands has won numerous awards, including being ranked No. 22 on Entrepreneur’s Top Franchises for Less Than $100,000 Ranking in 2022. The home care franchise company also was named One of the Most Profitable Franchises in 2022 by Franchise Business Review. Many of the accolades Assisting Hands has been awarded reflect its world-class customer service and innovation.

One of those innovations is the Assisting Hands University program, an online learning management system that allows caregivers to receive orientation and training remotely from experts in certain fields and current franchise owners. The training is done on the caregiver’s own time and is tracked through the platform. There are knowledge checks throughout the program, after each training module and upon completion of the program, ensuring the caregiver understands and retains the information being provided. The training is scored, and once it is completed, the caregiver is provided an Assisting Hands University certification.

“Our Assisting Hands University is a great way for us to attract and retain caregivers,” said Deanna Keppel, Assisting Hands vice president. “The home health care industry has a number of challenges with this, and our university program helps streamline the process. We believe this is an onboarding and recruiting game-changer.

“We have been focused on providing tools and resources for recruitment to assist our franchisees with finding great caregivers to join their growing teams. Assisting Hands University was developed to provide owners with the tools to help streamline the onboarding process without sacrificing quality. It was designed to help onboard caregivers quickly and efficiently,” Keppel said.

Assisting Hands University contains online learning modules that are delivered through a mix of text, pictures, interviews and videos. They include: Welcome to Assisting Hands; Teamwork Compensation and Appreciation; Appearance, Safety and Performing Quality Work; Preparing to Provide Care; Exceptional Client Care Services – Non-Clinical; Companion Services; Personal Care, Ambulation and Transferring; and Personal Care, Hygiene and Grooming.

Assisting Hands University was “developed as a result of listening to our franchisees, the changes in operations that came from COVID and the recent rise in costs,” Keppel said. “We learned we needed to be innovative and come up with a new way of hiring.

“There became a new normal of online training, and we wanted to work around our caregivers’ busy and nontraditional schedules while allowing our owners to hire every day of the week, providing a steady stream of caregivers ready and able to work.”

Assisting Hands is laser-focused on seeing each franchise owner succeed, coining the term “FOFO,” Family of Franchise Owners. If you are looking for a franchise that is profitable and scalable, with members who care about each other as family, look no further than Assisting Hands. Opportunities are available nationwide.
