Before becoming a franchisee with 911 Restoration, Chris Poulin owned a window-cleaning business and worked seven days a week. He brought that same work ethic with him when he launched his franchise career, but this time, it felt like he was building a path with purpose and long-term growth through a proven franchise system.
“In the beginning, it takes a lot of time and commitment, but over time, that investment pays off,” said Poulin, whose franchise serves the Reno-Tahoe area of Nevada. “Today, I’m able to be present for family dinners, kids’ sports and important moments while still running and growing the business. It’s not about working less. It’s about building something that gives you freedom, purpose and control over your future.”
The brand specializes in 24/7 emergency services for residential and commercial properties, offering comprehensive cleanup and repair services, including water damage restoration, mold remediation, fire damage restoration and sewage cleanup. According to Poulin, the business was a great fit for him because it’s built around helping people when they need it most.
“Every job is an opportunity to make a real difference, turning a stressful situation into a fresh start,” he said.
Restoration is an emergency service, so things can change quickly. However, with the right team and systems in place, Poulin is always ready to respond.
Here’s a look at how Poulin spends his day:
- 6 a.m. Poulin reviews overnight activity, checks in on jobs and looks at the numbers.
- 7:30 a.m. He reviews emails, purchases and the previous day’s activity. Project managers lead the morning meetings with crews, setting the tone and confirming that every job is moving forward the right way.
- 9 a.m. He connects with the management team and makes sure everyone has what they need, keeping everything aligned so they can deliver the best possible experience for their customers.
- 12 p.m. Poulin takes a quick lunch, often while meeting with a partner, vendor or referral source.
- 3 p.m. He reviews financials and focuses on marketing, hiring and team development.
- 5 p.m. Poulin wraps up for the day and makes sure everything is in place for the next workday.
