Painting It Forward
That 1 Painter’s mission is simple: To be a leading provider in the painting space, offering both interior and exterior services as well as limewashing, deck staining, drywall repair and more. However, brand owners and their teams picked up their brushes for a different cause in 2025, completing more than 100 donated painting projects, each aimed at helping a local nonprofit, community space or family in need.
Named “Paint It Forward,” the transformational initiative was created around the idea that paint has the power to change how a place feels as well as how the people inside it feel, too. Over the past 12 months, That 1 Painter, part of the ResiBrands family, saw its idea come to life in a variety of meaningful ways.
Shelters were refreshed to feel safer and more welcoming; youth organizations received bright, energizing spaces; veteran groups, schools and community centers were restored with care and attention. Additionally, families facing difficult circumstances saw their homes renewed at a time when hope mattered most.
“What makes Paint It Forward stand out in the franchising world is that every project is deeply local,” said a company spokesperson. “Nominations came from neighbors and friends. Projects were chosen by franchise owners who live and work in the same communities. Crews volunteered their time with vendors frequently donating materials.”
As spring approaches – typically a busy few months in the home services industry – That 1 Painter isn’t slowing down in its charitable endeavors.
“The energy surrounding Paint It Forward is already carrying into 2026 with plans to expand participation and reach even more families and businesses in need,” the spokesperson said. “Nominations for 2026 projects are now open, and franchisees across the country are encouraging residents, nonprofits and local leaders to submit stories of people and organizations that could benefit from a fresh start.”
For That 1 Painter, its goal for the coming year is simple: to do more, help more and show up in bigger ways.
“By continuing to put community impact at the center of its growth, That 1 Painter is proving that franchising doesn’t have to be impersonal or transactional. It can be human, local and deeply connected to local communities,” the spokesperson said.
Since its inception, the Paint It Forward program has steadily expanded its impact. In 2019, when the initiative was first launched, four projects were completed. By 2024, a total of 70 projects were completed, and the brand partnered with news outlets and social media influencers to promote the program further. The company now has plans to grow the program even further, aiming to complete more than 100 home transformations in one week.
“In an industry built on service, Paint It Forward serves as a reminder that sometimes the most powerful transformation isn’t just on the walls. It’s in the people and communities behind them,” the spokesperson said. “As That 1 Painter looks ahead to an even bigger year of giving, the invitation is simple: help identify the people and places where a fresh start can make all the difference.”
