Conference Season is Upon Us

BOOTHMANSHIP 101. There are many articles on this topic. But very few on the specifics that we are talking about. Bear these in mind, while in the booth.

Make eye contact. When talking with a client, prospect, friend, or anyone – make eye contact! Heads that are spinning around on a stick looking for someone seldom makes a great impression.

Be considerate. The tchotchkes you brought for the attendees are cute, yes! However, asking the attendee if they’d like to have one is a very nice technique. Some folks don’t want to carry home everything from each booth. Don’t be offended. They’re not offended you asked.

Smile until it hurts – and then some. Standing in a booth without a smile looks, well, just look around at the surrounding booths. And see those not smiling. Who would want to talk with that person? Remember, a phony smile is better than a real frown.

No gum in the booth! The reasons are way too long to share. Trust me. It does not look good or professional. And you need to look both!
