A Day in the Life of a Franchisee

After earning his business degree and an MBA, Teodorico Azores Jr. knew he wanted to operate his own business. Of all the franchising opportunities available, Azores was drawn to the health service industry – he had grown up in a close-knit family and always enjoyed helping others. When it came time to invest in a franchise, one stood out: 1Heart Caregiver Services.

“When I did my research regarding the home care industry, I learned that 1Heart had a very reputable image in the territory that interested me,” Azores said, adding that he was impressed by the brand’s stability.

Now an owner of two 1Heart Caregiver Services locations with his wife, Pia, Azores couldn’t be more pleased with his business decision. While Azores admitted that owning a business requires hard work and determination, he also recognized that 1Heart Caregiver Services’ support system has helped tremendously.

“I believe that an updated flow of information within an organization is vital in growing one’s identity and business. At 1Heart, constant communication is very strong. They are transparent and honest,” he said.

The Azoreses are grateful for the countless opportunities they’ve had to help seniors in their community, and they feel the impact of owning a 1Heart Caregiver Services franchise every day. “The freedom of time is so valuable. Having my own franchise has given me the freedom to work on myself. I have become a better business owner and leader,” Azores said.

Here’s a glimpse of a day in the life of a 1Heart Caregiver Services franchisee.

8 a.m.  Before going to the office at 9 a.m., Azores starts his day by clearing his mind and creating a schedule of what he needs to accomplish. At the office, he reviews the caregiver schedule on the brand’s technology platform and the revenue trend from the past week.

Noon  Azores takes time to sit back, relax and have a meal to recalibrate himself. He can use this time to schedule fieldwork and on-the-job training with the client care manager or meet the top referral sources in his list of accounts. Also, he may schedule monthly department meetings.

2 p.m. Azores makes sure that all of the tasks on his “to-do” list are achieved, including reviewing recruitment and job fair schedules as well as senior living facility events that he can attend,

5:30 p.m. Azores closes the office and leaves to spend time with his family. He finishes other work-related tasks at home before going to bed.
