Prior to joining That 1 Painter, Vice President of Franchise Development Kimber Montgomery was a successful real estate agent. As the mother of Founder Steven Montgomery, she planted the entrepreneurial seed when he was in school.
“That is how Steven got his start – he painted for my clients on his school breaks,” she said.
That 1 Painter, a ResiBrands company, provides a diverse clientele with painting, limewash, deck staining, drywall repair and additional services. Montgomery transitioned from real estate sales to franchising in June 2022 to help her son achieve his dream.
She has advanced from directorial roles in franchise development to her current vice president title, which is focused on building, leading and retaining a talented sales team.
“I motivate, encourage and coach my sales reps and coordinators,” Montgomery said. “My primary focus is franchise sales, and I work with potential franchisees to tell them about our brands and what we offer at ResiBrands.”
Starting as the only woman on the team, Montgomery was committed to recruiting talented women into franchising roles.
“When I joined That 1 Painter, I was the only full-time sales representative – and also the only woman on the team,” she said. “I was determined to change that, and I’m very proud to say that we have several women franchisees in each of our brands today.”
Montgomery believes franchising is a wonderful opportunity for anyone and that the That 1 Painter brand is uniquely positioned for female ownership as a home services provider.
“Women are the ones who wait at home for the salesperson to show. Being a woman makes the homeowner feel comfortable to open the door and ask more questions,” she said.
Montgomery also has played a key role in growing ResiBrands from 27 to 742 territories in three years.
“Between all of us, we have reached numbers that are better than we imagined,” she said. “I want to see each of my sales reps meet and exceed their goals in the next 2 to 3 years.”
According to Montgomery, franchising offers a great opportunity for anyone, including women, looking to build something for themselves and their families.
