In 2011, a college dropout named Steven Montgomery started a small painting company, knowing that his work ethic, values and entrepreneurial spirit would help him fulfill his dreams of creating something big – something of his own. Today, that small painting company has grown nationwide, holding true to the values it was founded upon.
Although That 1 Painter is known for its remarkable customer service and high-quality work, the company aims to do more than just paint. Growing up in a family of missionaries, Montgomery has always given back to others, which inspired him to create the Paint It Forward program and carry that passion into his company. Every year, each That 1 Painter location partners with Sherwin-Williams to paint the home of a family in need.
“The Paint It Forward program combines our passion for painting with the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life,” explained Montgomery. “Our goal is for each That 1 Painter location to raise the standards of every other painting company in their community.”
Thanks to Paint It Forward, the company has been able to help local churches and schools, and it’s even expanded internationally. Individuals can nominate a family or an organization they believe is in need through a simple form on the company’s website.
That 1 Painter is on pace to become a top painting company in the nation, and it’s eager to make a positive impact in more communities as it opens locations domestically as well as internationally. Through close relationships with vendors and success-driven coaching, new franchisees have the tools and knowledge they need to create a lucrative painting business. The company currently has available territories in several top metro areas such as Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and New Orleans.
“At That 1 Painter, our future is bright. We’re expanding rapidly, bringing our quality work and excellent service to new cities,” said Montgomery. “We never want to stop at just transforming houses. We want to transform the lives of those who live in them.”
