Heather Logelin spent 20 years in solution sales, where she gained expertise in helping people solve problems. During her time in sales, she began working with franchisees, and through doing so, she developed a deep appreciation for franchise models as well as the entrepreneurship of the franchisees themselves. Her background in sales felt like a natural skillset to support her dream of becoming a business owner and franchisee.
She kept her eye out for franchise opportunities, but nothing really spoke to her until she came across BrightStar Care®.
“My initial reaction was, ‘I have no background in health care!’” said Logelin. “But then, the more I got to know about BrightStar Care, it was like, ‘How can I not do this?’ I think the biggest thing for me is that it’s a service-based company, and we create solutions for families during the most difficult times of their lives.”
The company’s support model and its tight-knit group of franchisees also were huge selling points for her.
In October 2022, Logelin opened her franchise in Maple Grove, Minnesota, which serves the Minneapolis northwest metro. Since then, her location has grown its client list and has been able to utilize all lines of BrightStar Care’s business. Her location provides non-skilled and skilled home care and medical staffing which includes: personal care assistance, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medication management, wound care, infusions, and school staffing, which allows children with complex medical needs to go to school to be with their peers.
However, according to Logelin, her greatest accomplishment was being able to build out a team of like-minded individuals who inspire her with their dedication to the mission.
“I saw business ownership as ‘We have to build something from the ground up and create a culture in a company that I felt good about’,” she explained. “And for me, business ownership was about doing it with other people. So, the way that I look at my business is that I’m building this business with my office team, my caregivers and my nurses. We’re all doing this together, and we have a shared mission.”
