Batteries Plus Celebrates National Repair Done Right Month with Events & Promotions on Phone Repairs

Nation’s Leading Specialty Retailer Offers Repairs by Certified Technicians.

HARTLAND, Wis. — November is National Repair Done Right Month, a month dedicated to recognizing repair professionals serving consumers who seek trusted repair providers for mobile devices, consumer electronics, appliances and more. To celebrate, Batteries Plus is taking the opportunity to shine the spotlight on its industry-leading expertise with promotions throughout the month.

This month, the nation’s leading specialty retailer and phone repair experts are deploying a company-wide promotion which gives consumers a simple way to get their phone repaired by either making an online appointment or walking into one of the brand’s 700 stores. All month, consumers can receive $10 off any phone repair by booking an appointment online. Additionally, visit the company’s Facebook page or Instagram to enter to win one of four weekly chances for a free screen repair. The company’s “Fix it Friday” event has been wildly successful in the past and is back again to celebrate the National Repair Done Right Month.

From November 12th through the 18th, customers will be able to walk in, or call their local store to save $10 off their repair as well. With company-wide WISE certified technicians, highly-capable specialists that adhere to national standards, consumers can rest assured they are getting the very best personal device repair service available.

“With more than 2,500 certified technicians across the country, we are proud to have nearly full national coverage of WISE certifications in our system – something that we are very proud to offer,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus. “Earning and keeping our customers’ trust and confidence is our top priority and our WISE certified technicians handle each and every device repair with care.”

Leading the way on WISE certifications brings trust and credibility with customers, confidence for its repair technicians, and credibility for partnerships with some of the biggest names in the industry. In fact, earlier this year, Batteries Plus became the very first company in Samsung’s global Independent Service Provider program and its expansive WISE certification was the number one reason Samsung approached the brand for the partnership.

“While National Repair Done Right Month has just now become a recognized national holiday, Batteries Plus focuses on this mission each and every day,” added Williams. “Consumers depend on electronic devices to improve their lives and we make it easy for them to find quality service provided by trained and vetted repair professionals.”

Batteries Plus Takes Charge in Q3, Signs Agreements for 20 New Stores

2021-10-07T17:09:04-04:00October 7th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

Leading Specialty Retailer Surpasses Year-End Goal, Inks Record-Breaking 66 Signings Since January 2021.

HARTLAND, Wis. — The nation’s largest and fastest-growing battery, light bulb, key fob and repair franchise, Batteries Plus, announced today significant third quarter growth with the signing of 20 new store agreements, bringing the brand’s total signings for the year to 66. Included in the 20 new store agreements was a 10-unit signing which will expand the brand in Nevada and Utah, a three-unit signing in Philadelphia, PA and multiple two-packs set to expand Batteries Plus into Sacramento, CA and Wichita, KS. Additional single-unit signings will grow the brand in Georgia, Texas, Illinois and California.

Excitement around the brand’s growth is driven in large part by Vice President of Franchise Development and Relations and Certified Franchise Executive (CFE), Joe Malmuth. Batteries Plus has its sights set on an additional 15-20 signings before the end of the year – solidifying the record-breaking success the brand has seen in 2021.

“Entrepreneurs and current store owners want to join and reinvest in our system because we offer a stable, lucrative business model and our third quarter growth is a testament to the strength of our brand,” says Malmuth. “We are very proud of our continued success and look forward to strengthening our presence in key markets throughout the country with dedicated and passionate owners.”

The brand has noted an exciting trend of multi-unit ownership, showcased nicely by the 10-unit signing in the third quarter. Malmuth projects additional large-scale agreements to transpire before year’s end – putting the brand far ahead of its intended goal of 55 total signings in 2021. This year’s growth has been coast-to-coast with signings set to develop the brand in the Pacific Northeast, the Southwest (including Arizona and Utah), the South (including Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Alabama) and the East Coast (including New Hampshire, Long Island and the Raleigh-Durham area).

“Our focus for 2021 has been to promote infrastructure investments that will continue to help our existing franchisees navigate the uncertain environment brought on by the pandemic. At the same time, we have kept our sights set on expansion of our brand through new ownership,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus. “As we look ahead to the end of the year and early 2022, we will put our efforts toward bringing our unmatched products and services to communities across the country that are currently underserved by our brand.”

This year, Batteries Plus has taken proactive steps to spare its franchisees from inventory obstacles plaguing retailers around the globe. With a solid model in place and team members available to answer questions and address concerns, the company has helped their franchisees avoid major business obstacles. This year has also brought development and expansion for the Batteries Plus leadership team – further solidifying a strong foundation for continued franchisee support – and a partnership with Samsung in which the brand became the first retail partner in Samsung’s Independent Service Provider program. The partnership provides Samsung users access to receive best-in-class smartphone repair services at Batteries Plus locations across the country.

Before signing on the dotted line, Batteries Plus provides prospects with comprehensive data that reveals projected territory performance details. Within two weeks of a new signing, a member of Batteries Plus flies to the market to tour new sites. A key growth factor is the brand’s transparency with investors and the ability to see projected territory performance metrics before signing a deal. With the multi-billion dollar markets the franchise model is built on (Batteries, $110B; Bulbs, $118.3B, Device Repair, $4B, Key Fobs, $4.82B, Smart Home Technology $28.86M), multi-unit owners are able to quickly open locations with speed and efficiency.

With over 760 store locations in operation and development nationwide, Batteries Plus franchise owners are passionate about providing essential products and services for their local communities. Batteries Plus has also carved out a unique niche in the industry with its ‘plus’ services – including battery installation and key fob programming – capitalizing on both its knowledge and service offerings. Positioned for the battery-powered future, Batteries Plus supplies fundamental products that power people’s lives – wheelchairs, mobility scooters, thermometers, etc. Batteries Plus was ranked on Franchise Times Top 400 list, coming in at #130.

Existing multi-unit franchisee Danny Moos, who already owns six Batteries Plus stores in the Las Vegas DMA and a recently-opened store in Prosper, Texas, has just signed on to open 10 additional units throughout Nevada and Utah.

These new stores will be located in; Las Vegas, Henderson, and Mesquite, Nev., as well as Cottonwood Heights/Sandy, Bountiful, Ogden, Spanish Form, Farmington, Tooele, and Logan, Utah. The first of these, in the Northwest Las Vegas area, is set to open by July of 2022.

Batteries Plus’s proactive and supportive approach has allowed the brand to drive multi-unit growth at a rapid rate, even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Batteries Plus team continues to spare franchisees of many of the obstacles brought about by recent market fluctuations, including inventory shortages. The brand’s open communication, solid leadership team and resources available for franchisees is what has prompted so many to open multiple units and grow their portfolios with the brand.

In fact, of the franchise agreements signed within the past 10 months, 90 percent have been multi-unit investments. For Moos, who also owns several UPS stores, his impressive portfolio is now inked with 16 Batteries Plus stores open or in development in three states.

HARTLAND, Wis. — In response to the 30-plus store openings and the signing of 55 new franchise agreements thus far in 2021, Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest and fastest-growing battery, light bulb, key fob and repair franchise, announced today the promotion of one of its key leaders, Joe Malmuth, to Vice President of Franchise Development and Relations. This announcement comes on the heels of two incredible quarters of growth for the company including the largest multi-unit development agreement in brand history.

Malmuth ascends the leadership ladder from his previous position of Managing Director of Franchise Development, a title he has held since joining the Batteries Plus team in May 2020. Over the past year, Malmuth has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of franchise development. In addition to working with new owners and franchise consultants to expand the system, he has also been managing programs focused on helping current owners develop territory and facilitate transactions. Combo Kitchen Partners with Barbecue Restaurant Brand Dickey’s Barbecue Pit for Ghost Kitchen Expansion!

2021-06-18T10:15:30-04:00June 18th, 2021|Tags: , , , |

MIAMI — Barbecue lovers nationwide, prepare for a groundbreaking advancement in the ghost kitchen industry. The world’s largest barbecue chain, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, has partnered with Combo Kitchen to promote nationwide expansion of their brand through ghost kitchens. Since 1941, Dickey’s has been serving up delicious, fall-off-the-bone barbecue, utilizing the same recipes they perfected over 80 years ago. Known for Texas-style hickory slow smoked meats and a family-focused reputation, Dickey’s has grown to become the leader in barbecue and an inspiration for fast-casual restaurants worldwide. The partnership creates an opportunity for experienced professionals to operate a Dickey’s of their own utilizing Combo Kitchen’s ghost kitchen franchise model, all while bringing the sweet and savory flavors of Texas barbecue to new neighborhoods across the country. The partnership also includes both Wing Boss and Big Deal Burgers, family brands of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

Combo Kitchen allows restaurant owners and entrepreneurs to select from a variety of established brands for placement in new or existing restaurants, offered for takeout and delivery only. Restaurant owners can take advantage of their kitchen space by adding established brands to their restaurants as ghost kitchens. Operating entirely behind the scenes and without disruption of their typical operations, this allows them to instantly increase their restaurant’s revenue. Investors without an existing restaurant can open a ghost kitchen from scratch featuring a variety of Combo Kitchen’s network brands.

“Partnering with Dickey’s provides our franchisees with the opportunity to profit off of a proven and established brand that customers instantly recognize, unlike most ordinary ghost kitchens offering virtual brands” says Combo Kitchen CEO Hossein Kasmai, “With the need for brand recognition campaigns essentially eradicated, offering a brand like Dickey’s as a virtual concept gives restaurant owners or investors the key ingredient to operating a successful ghost kitchen.”

The market for food delivery has expanded rapidly in recent years, accentuated by the effects of COVID-19 on America’s dining habits. Before the pandemic, the industry for ghost kitchens (A.K.A. dark kitchens, cloud kitchens, or virtual kitchens) was already flourishing, due largely in part to the convenience they provide to younger, more technology-savvy generations. In 2020, the trend that was ignited by the millennial mindset exploded into a new cultural norm due to government mandated shutdowns and the need for societal adjustments mid-pandemic. The global ghost kitchen industry is estimated to reach $1 trillion by 2030.

“Combo Kitchen is a unique franchising opportunity which allows us flexibility to enter new markets at a much lower build cost for operators,” said Roland Dickey, Jr., CEO of Dickey’s Capital Group “Interest among new and existing franchisees combined with utilizing the convenience provided by Combo Kitchen, Dickey’s can capitalize on the rapidly growing delivery market and add new ways to serve our guests Texas-style barbecue.”

Combo Kitchen, recognized as one of the fastest-growing franchises and ghost kitchen concepts, has expanded exponentially to many states across the US. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit boasts over 550 locations, earning it the title of the World’s Largest Barbecue Chain. With this partnership, Combo Kitchen expects to expand Dickey’s by at least 100 more locations within the next year.

About Combo Kitchen

Founded in Miami, FL. by Mr. Hossein Kasmai, who also founded Franchise Creator (www.franchisecreator.com), the nation’s leading franchise consulting firm, Combo Kitchen provides a revolutionary business model for entrepreneurs and restaurateurs to incorporate established restaurant brands as ghost kitchens in their restaurants. National Battery Retailer Signs 8-Unit Deal to Expand Presence in North Carolina.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest and fastest-growing battery, light bulb, key fob and repair franchise, today announces the largest single signing franchise deal in company history, bringing eight new locations to the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina over the next three years. The first store is set to open in Raleigh-Durham in early 2022.

Chief Strategy and Development Officer for Batteries Plus Makes List of Top 40 Professionals in the Retail Industry.

HARTLAND, Wis. — After receiving the largest nomination pool in the competition’s seven-year history, Retail TouchPoints and design:retail has named Jon Sica, Chief Strategy and Development Officer at Batteries Plus, one of the top 40 professionals in the retail industry under the age of 40.

The select group of young executives are paving the way for the next era of retail and was compromised of founders, CEOs, creative directors, design managers, marketing executives, ecommerce gurus, VPs and many more changemakers. Sica was one of 40 individuals that met the following criteria:

  • Shining stars in their company and in the industry;
  • Have completed innovative and remarkable work; and
  • Contribute greatly to education or associations supporting the retail community.

From his modest start writing Cabela’s catalogs to driving expansion for the nation’s largest and fastest-growing omni-channel retail franchise, Sica has blazed a trail by mixing the art and science of business to find success across big box, QSR and franchise companies. He focuses on not just defining successful strategies – he connects them to people and execution in a way that delivers consistent, predictable results for shareholders while building a “big tent” that allows many to share and participate in the wins. Sica’s biggest contribution in retail has been in communicating strategy as his background in marketing allows him to visualize and articulate business strategy in a way that’s understandable from the board of directors to hourly employees. A self-professed process geek that enjoys relentlessly and methodically solving tough problems – like post-acquisition integration and building a sales program from scratch – in innovative ways that prioritizes people in addition to business results, Sica has helped Batteries Plus find success in challenging market place.

“I am truly humbled to accept this award from Retail Touchpoints and design:retail and be a part of such a prestigious group of leaders who contribute to the global retail community in positive ways,” said Sica. “It is an honor to be ranked amongst some of the greatest professionals in the retail industry and I am proud to represent Batteries Plus among such an outstanding list of companies and young leaders. This honor is not just a reflection on me, but the entire best-in-class team we have at Batteries Plus.”

Some of Sica’s biggest contributions in 2020 were quickly helping the organization and 260+ franchise owners stay connected during the pandemic, from regional calls with owners to walk through cleaning practices to first-of-their-kind video features and podcasts – he took internal communications to the next level to drive success. Other notable achievements include:

  • Instituted daily “war room” meetings during the pandemic to respond that help keep all stores operating as “essential” business during the pandemic, while the brand implemented contactless curbside in under 48 hours nationwide, and helped franchisees respond to sales trends to have several record-breaking months in 2020.
  • Executed the largest store acquisition in company history – not once, but twice – in the midst of a pandemic, while implementing new integrations processes that helped employees keep their jobs while posting sales increases in the time after acquisition.
  • Hired and transformed a new part of his organization during the pandemic – onboarding, aligning and defining new processes 100% virtually, while beating the annual plan goal in only half a year with 30 franchise signings.

“We are proud to continue the legacy of the 40 Under 40 Awards program, recognizing the achievements and outstanding work of the retail industry’s next generation of leaders,” said Jessie Dowd, Senior Editor of Retail TouchPoints. “Elevating those individuals who have used their brilliant minds and dedicated drive to propel retail forward is essential to fostering continued innovation across the industry at large.”

Batteries Plus Signs 20 Franchise Agreements Amidst Pandemic; Looks to Add Additional 55 Agreements by Year End.

HARTLAND, Wis. — At first glance, 2020 seems like it would be a difficult year for franchise brands to concentrate on growth, however, the nation’s largest and fastest growing battery, light bulb, key fob and repair franchise showed stability in the face of uncertainty. Throughout 2020, Batteries Plus signed 20 franchise agreements which will add 30 new locations to the system’s 700+ network of specialty retail stores. In addition, the brand already inked another nine new stores in January alone, proving itself a reliable and stable business opportunity for a growing list of entrepreneurs.

The agreements represent a healthy mix of single and multi-unit growth, with four current franchisees signing on to open six additional stores and 16 new franchisees who will be opening 24 stores. The new Batteries Plus franchises are slated to open in:

  • Arizona (Phoenix and Yuma)
  • California (El Centro, Lodi and Sacramento)
  • Colorado (Colorado Springs)
  • Florida (Melbourne, Orlando and Tallahassee)
  • Idaho (Boise)
  • Maryland (Bowie)
  • Minnesota (Forest Lake)
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey (Haddonfield)
  • New Mexico (Carlsbad)
  • Oregon (Oregon City)
  • Tennessee (Nashville)
  • Texas (Prosper)
  • Vermont (Burlington)
  • Wisconsin (Hales Corners)

The confidence these franchisees demonstrate by investing in Batteries Plus helps showcase the brand’s strength and durability during a particularly challenging year for business owners.

“It’s no secret that last year brought a lot of challenges but along with these challenges came plenty of opportunities,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus. “Early last year, our stores were deemed essential businesses which allowed them to remain open and continue to meet customer needs at a time when health and safety were a top priority. The stability of our business model quickly became apparent and entrepreneurs across the country took notice.”

Current and new Batteries Plus franchise owners alike have been inspired by the brand’s performance last year and are helping to keep the momentum building in 2021. Focus for the brand has been and will remain on the ability to maintain competitive advantages in order to protect its long-term profits and market share. Batteries Plus has found a niche in its ‘plus’ services – including battery installation and key fob programming – capitalizing on both its knowledge and service offerings.

“Our investments in omni-channel technology have directly benefited our franchisees and increased our competitive advantage,” said Jon Sica, Chief Strategy Officer at Batteries Plus. “In many ways, Batteries Plus is already ahead of the game in strategies other restaurants and retailers are just implementing – this allows us to keep looking ahead to new innovations that make our franchisee’s stronger.”

To keep providing essential products and services to consumers across the country, Batteries Plus has a target of 55 signed agreements through the end of the year. The brand has identified several markets that are ripe for development, including the Southeastern and Northeastern U.S., as well as Texas – outside of the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. Aside from highly dense markets, there are opportunities for multi-unit growth across all territories.
