Season 2® Consign believes that there is a more sustainable way to shop for quality luxury items that also makes them more attainable to the average shopper. The company has created a unique shopping experience that integrates e-commerce, where clients shop on platforms like Instagram, TikTok and SC2TV, with traditional retail, where clients schedule appointments to visit showrooms. This hybrid model makes the consignment shopping experience unique and immersive for customers.
Co-founders and sisters Monica Tapia-Mularski and Erika Tapia created Season 2 Consign with the mission of democratizing fashion and innovating the luxury reselling industry. The duo developed the company’s digital-forward model after using Instagram Live to sell their own wardrobe pieces.
They soon realized there was a missing piece to the typical consignment model, which is mostly restricted to smaller brick-and-mortar operations. So they set out to combine both the in-person and online shopping experience to create a marketplace of secondhand luxury items that was reputable and accessible.
Season 2 Consign prides itself on its rigorous authentication of products using Entrupy’s AI service, which ensures all products are guaranteed to be real with a certificate of authenticity. Innovations like this are at the center of the company’s franchise model because they ensure the company remains reputable while mitigating risk for the franchisee.
Franchisees benefit from the company’s existing customer base at launch by listing products on their centralized e-commerce platform. Additionally, when someone purchases a territory, they inherit all inventory and consigners that were previously acquired by headquarters from that territory. Through live shopping events on Instagram and TikTok, franchisees build and engage with a wide online audience of potential customers. The business model is naturally circular, meaning those who consign with the franchisee likely will buy from them and vice versa.
“What really stands out about this business model is that the world is literally your oyster,” said Director of Franchise Development Kezia Verasammy. “There’s no cap on how much money you can make.”
