As a veteran U.S. Army captain and member of the International Franchise Association’s VetFran Committee, PuroClean President and COO Steve White has for years been proactively seeking ways to support those who have honorably served our country.

“Franchising is a team sport where there are no individual events,” White said. “Inspired by the values instilled in me from my career in the U.S. Army, the culture of our company is built upon the idea that everyone must come together as one team, and only then will we achieve success.”

Known as the “Paramedics of Property Damage,” PuroClean provides fire-and-smoke damage remediation, water-damage remediation, flood-water removal, mold removal and biohazard cleanup to commercial and residential customers. Founded in 2001, the company has a comprehensive network of more than 360 franchise offices across North America, each one independently owned and operated. According to White, veterans are a good fit for PuroClean’s corporate culture because it was built upon the values emphasized within the armed forces.

“Veterans are ideally suited as PuroClean franchise owners because they understand our culture of servant leadership, extreme ownership and active collaboration,” White said. “PuroClean owners lead boldly with the heart of a servant, are publicly accountable in demonstrating that their word is their bond, and work hand in hand with other franchise owners to operate as one team.”

Training its franchisees in that fashion, PuroClean even launched a PuroVet program in 2017 to help military personnel transition into business ownership and connect directly with veterans inside and outside of its franchise system. Not only does the company try to recruit, hire and support veterans in the franchise system, but former military personnel are also offered many incentives to sign on with the brand.

Through PuroVet, all veterans of the U.S. armed forces save 25% off franchise fees and benefit from access to special financing, discounts from suppliers, and hands-on training. All veteran franchise owners are also given the PuroVet Coin – a nod to the military coin tradition that serves as proof of a person’s membership to an elite unit.

“Military veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and we want to offer them an opportunity to have a successful second career,” White said. “Veterans have proven themselves to be strong leaders who successfully follow the processes set up by a franchise system, and work until the job is done.”
