THE BUZZ

Sean Sarrami and his partners knew there had to be a better breakfast restaurant out there than what was currently available – one that emphasized fresh ingredients, variety and great portions. With experience in hospitality, Sarrami saw an opportunity to create a breakfast and lunch franchise concept that could accommodate customers of all dietary restrictions and serve tasty dishes. In 2016, Pür & Simple® was born.

“We aren’t another greasy spoon,” said Sarrami, chief development officer and co-owner. “We are a higher-end concept that leads in hospitality, good food and good portions. In our name, Pür & Simple, ‘pure’ means we’re not cheating the customer. We’re giving them pure, real food. And the ‘simple’ part refers to our franchise partners and the simple systems and processes in the franchise model. You don’t need to be an executive chef. They’re very easy to put together.”

Within the first year, the brand began franchising its model across Canada. Having had 20 years of experience in franchising, Sarrami and his co-owners knew how to expand their brand.

Within the Pür & Simple franchise model, Sarrami and his team developed a hands-on program that trains franchisees in front and back-of-the-house operations. For the first two weeks after opening, the corporate staff stays on-site to help train employees. After launch, the corporate team is on hand to help with marketing, operations and growth for the lifetime of the business.

The company also is focused on keeping the brand and its offerings fresh with annual revamped menus.

“The only way to succeed and only way to stay ahead of the curve is by staying on top of the trends and ensuring that the consumers are actually getting what they’re looking at online,” explained Sarrami.

Pür & Simple has grown to 44 locations, with 15 under construction and an additional 70 stores sold. It even holds the spot as the fastest-growing business in the brunch category in Canada.

“Over 50% of our Canadian stores are owned by multi-unit owners,” said Sarrami. “If you’re not happy or not making money, why would you buy another one, right?”
