VETERAN APPRECIATION

Brock Merwin found Paul Davis Restoration when he was working as a lead carpenter for a builder that was changing the direction of the company. While talking to a trade partner, he was introduced to Paul Davis and their great work in the home restoration industry. He found Paul Davis’s approach to restoration unique in that it not only emphasized superior and urgent work but also genuine compassion for their clients and their circumstances. Merwin joined the team as a project manager in 1994 and worked his way through multiple titles including reconstruction operations manager. For the last seven years, Merwin has held the title of general manager.

In 2017 Merwin got the opportunity to become a minority owner of a location that a franchisee was selling back to corporate. With his partnership with Paul Davis, his time has shifted more towards mentorship and creating the next line of leadership for his location.

This year Merwin celebrates his 30th anniversary with the company. As someone with a long tenure as an employee of the company and as a location owner, Merwin has gotten to experience both sides of partnering with Paul Davis. “You can say you’re a premier brand, but they live it,” said Merwin. “I show up year after year because of it. Restoration is in my blood and I just realized, by observing other companies, that I’m at the right spot.”

But for Merwin, the biggest return for a franchisee is in what you get to do for your community, “You’re creating a business where you get to take care of people. In a way, this could be the single most traumatic thing that happens to somebody at their home or their property, and you get to come in there as an expert and save the day, so to speak and make everything better than you found it. That type of return has been, to me, invaluable. To watch other people go through it, from a franchisor’s perspective, you can see they’re completely consistent in meeting the customer in their reality and providing best-in-class service.”

Paul Davis Restoration has long held a deep appreciation for veterans, including its veteran franchisees, and has actively participated in restoration service projects that support veteran-related causes.
