Painter Bros is a fast-growing innovative brand in the commercial and residential painting sector. While the company’s primary focus is interior and exterior painting, franchisees can provide other services that correlate with painting, such as epoxy floor coatings, graffiti removal and facility maintenance.

According to Director of Operations Stephen Winterrowd, the brand sets itself apart in the industry by allowing franchisees to acquire their own national accounts in addition to local commercial and residential clients like condominiums and apartment complexes. Painter Bros’ franchisees secure these national accounts, which include big-box stores and government agencies, and work together with other franchisees to complete the painting projects, potentially providing new franchisees immediate revenue in their business.

National accounts have thousands of commercial properties that need to be maintained. As a result of Painter Bros’ streamlined system, franchisees can lower costs for their national clients by using local franchisees in the network to complete projects. One of Painter Bros’ main goals is to bring on more franchisees, creating a synergy that attracts and benefits national brands as well. As of December 2024, Painter Bros had 42 signed franchises in 100 territories, and its goal is to reach 100 franchisees by the end of 2025.

“Painter Bros of Las Vegas facilitated over $3 million of projects with other franchisees in the network,” explained Winterrowd.

In addition to helping with national accounts, Painter Bros provides franchisees with a proven model for acquiring residential and local commercial painting projects while supporting them with SEO optimization. Franchisees are not out collecting dollars but are building their own local empires through networking and excellent service instead. The company offers franchisees low overhead, and the brand has relationships with national painting manufacturers like Sherwin-Williams, Pittsburgh Paints and Benjamin Moore.

The brand’s multiple franchise models include owner-operator and manage-the-manager, allowing franchisees to begin with no office or a small office staff and scale upward. Trained and vetted subcontractors help maintain the brand’s reputation for quality and excellence.

Painter Bros’ training and support includes a step-by-step playbook prior to launch and five days of training at its headquarters in Utah. Franchisees have access to customized software from FM Flow Technologies, which handles every step in the process from estimation and job scheduling to a fully integrated payments portal. Customers, franchisees and their painters never have to touch a check or cash for payments; it is a frictionless process for all.

Painting services create a long-term demand, meaning businesses and homes will always need interior and exterior painting and repainting, and according to Winterrowd, now is the time for dedicated and enthusiastic entrepreneurs to consider Painter Bros, especially as more owners are acquiring their own national accounts.

“When you open your eyes and see what’s painted in your world, it’s an enormous opportunity,” Winterrowd said. “There’s still a lot of green space out there. There’s lots of opportunities across the country.”
