FAMILY AFFAIR
Angela Batchelor and her wife, Jenny, were looking for an opportunity to break out on their own and become entrepreneurs. Angela has a background in real estate, flipping properties with her brother-in-law, and Jenny manages a successful business in North Carolina. After two years of searching for the right franchise opportunity that could leverage Angela’s real estate experience, they were about to sign on with another franchise when Angela discovered Painter Bros.
“I saw an article pop up for Painter Bros, and it said that they have national accounts,” she said. “I thought, ‘This sounds interesting.’ I ended up talking to Bailey [Painter Bros’ franchise brand manager] and just kind of made the decision to switch over.”
Angela became the franchise’s owner, Jenny took on the role of COO and they brought in Jenny’s son to help launch the business. Shortly after launching their franchise in Chicago in June, the couple was approached by the corporate office to manage a large Walmart account in Logansport, Indiana.
Since opening, the Batchelors have found Painter Bros’ support to be invaluable. The corporate team offers weekly training sessions, answers questions quickly and helps with national account projects, explaining how to secure those types of customers. With access to Painter Bros’ proprietary software, which provides communication, estimation, payments, reporting and more, the Batchelors are able to get all the information they need in one place, giving them even more time to focus on growing their business.
“They do try and create that family atmosphere,” said Angela. “They try to have very open communication and are very much so like, ‘Hey, do you need help?’”
Going into 2025, Angela is excited to make massive growth happen for the new franchise by building out its network and growing the commercial side of the business.
“I don’t like to limit myself,” said Angela. “I want to achieve as much as I possibly can, and you’ll hear some people say, ‘Well, give yourself a year.’ I don’t believe in that. I think, you know, work as hard as you can to achieve as much as possible with the time that you have, right?”
