Started in Denver over 10 years ago, N-Compass TV launched as a business idea to double down on the evolution of digital billboards. Just as massive digital billboards lined the streets of Times Square in New York, the brand saw an opportunity to bring digital billboards indoors. N-Compass TV created a screen-sharing network that drives exposure for local businesses by targeting the places consumers frequent the most, from restaurants and bars to salons and shops.

Over the years, N-Compass TV has evolved from being a pioneer in the industry to becoming the largest owner-operated indoor billboard network in North America. The business model is simple: authorized dealers secure partnerships with high-traffic businesses that are willing to display indoor billboards, and then they go out and find local businesses that are looking for exposure. The host businesses display secured advertising through a digital media player (“unit”) equipped with the N-Compass TV proprietary software. Meanwhile, N-Compass TV handles all the creative and technical details behind the scenes.

“We pride ourselves on the amount of support we provide our dealers,” said Ron Burford, director of business development and strategic partnerships. “We do as much of the work as we can on our end, from training users on the software and dashboard, to building the technology, to creating the ads for the billboards. That way, dealers can be free to build their business and grow their revenue.”

New dealers can choose from one of three dealership packages, starting as low as $35,000. Each tier comes with a set number of units as well as a protected marketing territory based on population size. N-Compass TV also provides a series of trainings that walk authorized dealers through the product and guide them on how to present it, how to find advertisers, and how to get hosts set up with their units. Business owners also have ongoing support from N-Compass TV’s client-service departments, who are there to answer questions along the way.

When it comes to selling advertising, dealers can decide on the best way to work with clients in their local community, whether that means selling in multi-month packages or defining shorter recurring periods. Regardless of the advertising cycle, however, N-Compass TV’s retention rate for clients tends to be an impressive 85% to 90%.

This all highlights one of the biggest benefits of being an N-Compass TV authorized dealer, which is that the business is designed to allow dealers to create passive income and recurring revenue, all while coming with low startup costs and overhead. It also allows owners to scale their business as little or as much as they choose.
