For more than 32 years, Kitchen Tune-Up has been transforming customers’ kitchens and baths in one to five days. And while some franchisees have opened retail spaces for their businesses, 70% of Kitchen Tune-Up owners prefer to remain mobile, working out of their home offices. This allows them to ramp up quickly and keep over-head low while still providing exemplary customer service.

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Kitchen Tune-Up pivoted quickly to ensure customer safety as kitchen and cabinetry projects moved forward. “In addition to in-person consultations, our owners now offer a virtual appointment option with their customers to start or continue conversations, and are even selling wood restoration, cabinet painting, redooring and refacing projects virtually,” says Heidi Morrissey, Kitchen Tune-Up’s president. “Our new online design tool also helps homeowners communicate and show their desired results, while helping them envision what their new cabinets will look like with new or existing countertops, flooring and more.”

As Kitchen Tune-Up continues to innovate, they also launched a DIY Plus program. This program gives homeowners the satisfaction of completing their home improvement projects themselves with guidance from professionals. The “Plus” means that every project includes a virtual consultation with Kitchen Tune-Up experts to help guide and design the project for the customer, followed by virtual measuring and installation sessions, as needed. Kitchen Tune-Up does all the ordering and ships directly to customers’ homes.

And although a majority of owners enjoy the mobile nature of the business, those who want to transition into a retail space have the opportunity to do that, as well. A commercial space provides a professional office setting for meetings with customers, as well as additional storage and work space.
