According to the executives at Honest Abe Roofing, research shows that a video-based training platform leads to an 80% higher retention rate than workbooks alone. So, in addition to a two-week inauguration period, the Indiana-based franchise has been using a digital platform filled with 1,000 hours of video to train its franchisees since its inception in 2005.

Consistently garnering measurable and predictable results from this program, the home-services brand, which installs, repairs and maintains residential roofs across the country, recently launched an entirely updated version of the proprietary online training system.

“We’ve spent the past several months working to build out a brand new version of our video training program,” noted Jason Revere, vice president of business development for the Honest Abe brand. “This latest version offers a lot more functionality, a lot more user engagement and a lot more videos; we’ve actually doubled the content.”

Titled Honest Abe University, the initial training commences with a brief overview of the Honest Abe Roofing culture and then delves into the topics of business management, bookkeeping, operations, marketing, roofing systems, customer service, sales training, and installation instructions.

“The reason most people don’t like their job is because they haven’t been trained how to do it properly,” Revere said. “By using Honest Abe University, you will have highly trained employees that actually enjoy working for you. The newest version of Honest Abe University includes 1,000 hours of video available to train team members to be great sales and field managers, and also covers the basics of customer care, hiring partner crews, overseeing installations, and invoicing.
