Losing weight is never easy, but it can be especially challenging when gyms are closed and everyone is home all day with a kitchen stockpiled with food. That’s why Medi-Weightloss has taken extra steps to ensure continuous contact with clients to keep them on track during the coronavirus crisis.

“Telemedicine has been a huge initiative of ours and is a huge part of our system now,” says Andrew Cox, senior vice president of business development for Medi-Weightloss. With 120 locations in 29 states, Medi-Weightloss provides clients with customized programs overseen by medical doctors. Many of the centers are still open, though strict measures have been put in place to adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Curbside product pickup and telehealth appointments are also available for customer convenience and safety.

“We’re definitely an essential service. It’s all about health during this pandemic, and what’s important is staying healthy,” Cox says.

Franchise owners are benefiting from an extensive support network that has been in place from Day One. “We have double to triple the amount of support than most brands. We do that on purpose. We are a medical business, so we have to be thorough,” he says.

It’s a great time for prospective franchise owners to start the process, says Cox, who expects an influx of new customers after normalcy is restored – and people may not be in the shape they were in a few months ago.

“Usually it’s a New Year’s weight-loss rush. Once this is over, the weight-loss rush is going to be early,” Cox says. “For new franchisees, it’s a good time for them now.”
