Husband-and-wife team Jodi and Shahid Mehmood are no strangers to the world of franchising. With a history of working as FranServe consultants while owning a successful Pilates franchise, the couple was looking for a change in their lifestyle. Specifically, they wanted something that’s a bit more family focused. At the time, the couple’s son was 11, and both Jodi and Shahid wanted a franchise opportunity in which he could also participate.
In 2023, the Mehmoods opened their Hawaii Fluid Art studio in Flower Mound, Texas. The brand’s franchise model had everything that they were looking for. It was an opportunity for their son to not only participate in the classes at the studio but also teach them. Additionally, the model allowed the couple to start off without any additional staff and to scale their team as the franchise grew.
While neither of the Mehmoods had a background in art, they quickly discovered that it wasn’t needed for a burgeoning business. The beauty of fluid art is that every piece of art is its own unique masterpiece that anyone can create. With the support of the corporate team, the Mehmoods were able to steadily grow their reputation in the community as a fun experience for everyone, and their studio has since become a popular party venue for children and adults alike.
“This is a happy place where you have hardly anybody coming in who’s not leaving 100% happy,” said Shahid.
“It’s truly inspiring to be working and helping people reduce stress. There’s just so many things that this can do for people, and we hear all kinds of different things that this has done for them,” added Jodi. “We have people that have started crying because they have lost a son or child, and this has just really given them the relief that they wanted. It means a lot that we’re touching people’s lives.”
