Robert Harman’s Rise to The Million Dollar Club

After earning a master’s degree in healthcare administration and finance and handling operations for a national chain of vision care centers, Robert Harman never imagined he’d be working in the automotive industry. However, after witnessing the success his uncle and cousin, David and Cameron Pelletier, had with their Tint World® Automotive Styling Centers™ franchise in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Harman became an enthusiastic proponent of the fast-growing national brand.

“I went to school for eight years to get a master’s degree and was well on my way to the career path I’d dreamed of, but I wanted to own a business with my family and be my own boss,” said Harman about his decision to join the company in 2019.

Specializing in automotive tinting, paint protection film, detailing and ceramic coatings as well as other automotive specialties, Tint World was originally launched in Tamarac, Florida, in 1982. In 2007, the company began franchising, and it quickly became the nation’s largest and fastest-growing window tinting and auto styling business opportunity. There are currently more than 250 locations open or in development, and the company is focused on a target to operate 600 franchises in North America.

“Tint World has so many different service offerings,” said Harman. “It makes your stores bulletproof, in a way. You’ll always have two to three categories over performing to compensate for possible slower weeks in other service categories, and there’s so much corporate marketing support as well as commonwealth buying power. We can offer the highest-end products at lower prices than our competitors.”

Harman, who now operates three locations based in Wilmington and Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Brookfield, Connecticut, has contributed greatly to the company’s success. In 2024, he became part of the company’s Million Dollar Club and won the company’s national and regional Franchise of the Year awards. He also received the Multi-Store Operator Award and accumulated more than 400 total reviews within his first two years of opening.

“It’s set up to help people grow their business,” said Harman about the company’s proven model. “With the number of profit centers available and the level of training and support they provide, you’re only limited by your drive and imagination.”

According to Harman, Tint World’s varied services have been an important part of his success and that the brand is a one-stop-shop for the aftermarket automotive customer. Harman’s team has capitalized on opportunities to service fleets in their area.

“If you commit to the system, it can be a money-making juggernaut,” he said.

Additionally, Harman plans on pushing his success even further in the future, focusing on the fleet hub he has built over the past several years.

“We are planning to pivot into a focus on the fleet side of the business,” he explained. “We will use the North Carolina locations to create a national fleet hub. We are integrating a system that will give all Tint World owners an opportunity to opt into a program that has guaranteed lead volume and profitability. This will likely launch mid-2026. Stay tuned.”
