Since Flour Power Cooking Studios began franchising in 2015, its innovative summer camps have served up enrichment and delight for children of all ages. The popular camps have garnered five-star reviews and attract new and continued business for owner-operators. Sarah Moritz, president of Flour Power Cooking Studios, explained why parents should choose Flour Power when there are many camp choices available.

“For starters, it gets kids off their devices. The whole world puts them on one; we take them off one, and they need the break,” said Moritz. “We are equal parts entertainment and education, so they are learning really good life skills in a fun environment.”

Flour Power capitalizes on the universal love language of cooking, empowering participants to explore exciting culinary experiences. Its summer camps build on this love, taking kids out of the scorching heat while catering to their diverse needs in a comfortable, safe environment.

“Studios have anywhere from 12 to 16 weeks of camp in the summer, and it’s 12 to 16 unique themes for each of those,” explained Moritz. “We’ll introduce four to five new plans for the summer, knowing that we have several in our arsenal.”

In addition to classic crowd-pleasers such as ”The Chocolate Factory,” the franchise develops exciting new themes that reflect current trends in gaming, anime and pop culture. A new favorite for 2024 is titled “The Era of Cooking,” which is inspired by pop singer Taylor Swift.

Flour Power offers both full-day and half-day camps designed to be flexible for all parties, and parents can choose how many days their child attends depending on their preferences and schedules. A typical day features campers cooking three to four recipes and enjoying theme-appropriate activities like crafts, games and hands-on experiments. Additionally, “brain breaks” are incorporated into the day to ensure kids don’t become overwhelmed and that their energy levels stay balanced.

A standout ingredient of the brand’s camps is the Flour emPOWER program, geared toward 13- and 14-year-olds. This opportunity enables older children to act as camp leaders, mentoring younger campers and assisting with activities. They also undertake unique cooking challenges, which are more advanced than their younger counterparts. The Flour emPOWER program is an excellent avenue for teens to gain leadership experience and earn coveted volunteer hours.

Longtime franchisee Tammy Herr, who owns studios in Cary and Holly Springs, North Carolina, has perfected the art of running Flour Power camps.

“Camps have played a major role in our success. This year was actually the fastest year we sold out!” Herr shared, praising her staff as instrumental. “We have an energetic, engaging, fun staff, understanding it’s about safety and education, too.”

From learning to cook and sampling new foods to making new friends and acquiring valuable life skills, Flour Power Cooking Studio camps offer kids of all ages the chance to develop life skills and create lifelong memories.
