Eric Myers, founder of Junk Junk Baby, shared his thoughts on the rewarding experience of operating a junk-hauling franchise.

How is Junk Junk Baby different from other junk-hauling franchises out there?

One of our biggest differentiators is that we drive box trucks as opposed to dump trucks, and that’s part of our commitment to taking care of the items and giving back to the community when we can. Everything we pick up gets sorted, and our first move is to see if and where we can donate it. We’re always happy to find another home for things.

What would you say are some of the biggest benefits of operating a Junk Junk Baby franchise?

Probably the variety. Every day and every job is different. And it’s also so rewarding. You’re dealing with different people at a time when they’re often stressed out, and it’s your job to kind of be a caregiver at that moment. We’re not nurses, doctors, or therapists, but we help get them over the finish line during a really emotional period.

How does Junk Junk Baby support new franchisees when it comes to setting up jobs and getting started?

My Number One goal, in the end, is to make sure that my franchisees are happy and successful, whatever that takes. We do a good mix of local marketing on social media. We’ll really support new franchisees there, but it’s also a great idea for them to tap into their own networks. This is a huge word-of-mouth business. Just talking about what you do at a barbecue, or a birthday party can get things moving and keep you busy.

Are you currently looking at particular areas for expansion?

We’re focusing on expanding in local hot markets right now. That way, I can have my boots on the ground and be there for new franchisees as they get started.
