Sowing a New Path: Tapping Into a Promising Future
In 2020, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Justin Sapp and his wife were sitting at home facing an uncertain future. The couple had recently moved to Mississippi, and Sapp was working in computer software for a bank, but he felt isolated at home and was missing the days of working in an office.
“I was kind of wanting to do something different, but I felt like just being at home every day, not knowing when I was going to be able to go back to work, because I like being around people, being outside, and just not having any say in my future or what I could do for that day, really kind of pushed me over that edge. It made me want to start looking,” said Sapp.
Sapp had never owned a business before and liked the idea of having help through a franchisor. He knew he wanted to do something outdoors and eventually came across NaturaLawn® of America. After a past experience using dangerous chemicals at his father’s pond, which caused growths on the fish, Sapp appreciated NaturaLawn’s chemical-free approach to lawn care.
Sapp attended a validation day and immediately was struck by the sense of family among the team.
“I felt at home, and I was kind of like, ‘Yeah, this is what I want to do,’” recalled Sapp. “I felt like it wouldn’t just be me – it would be me and the team.”
Sapp hit $100,000 in revenue in his first year and hit $500,000 in 2025. This year, he’s aiming for even higher revenue, and he credits much of that to the team he’s assembled.
“I really feel like this year, that’s something that we really worked on. I’ve got a very good team that I know I can grow this business with,” said Sapp. “I feel comfortable knowing that it’s getting done the correct way because I have a team that loves what they do and cares about the customers.”
