Rob Dezso and his wife, Amanda, own and operate three BrightStar Care® locations in Melbourne, Kissimmee and Vero Beach, Florida, and recently celebrated five years with the business. BrightStar Care’s commitment to going the extra mile is what inspired Dezso from the start.
“They call it the core values,” said Dezso. “I can spout them off the top of my head: You make it great, you do the right thing, you are open and honest, you do what you say, and you serve with passion. That is BrightStar Care.”
For over 20 years and 380 locations later, BrightStar Care has served clients, families and organizations across the country. Through medical staffing and home care services including personal care, skilled nursing, companion care, memory care and more, the company helps meet the needs of the aging population with compassion and purpose.
Dezso had worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over a decade, spending the last leg of his career in the senior care division. He saw firsthand what was happening inside senior care nationwide and sought a venture that would allow him and his family to make a meaningful impact. This field has always held a special place in his heart, so BrightStar Care was a natural fit.
“My grandfather had Alzheimer’s,” explained Dezso. “I was about 14 and had spent the last two summers of his life helping my grandmother care for him.”
Dezso recognized the need for quality in-home care and realized that caring for aging baby boomers would significantly influence the healthcare system. There are currently 14 million people receiving a type of long-term care. According to estimates from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, that number is expected to double by 2050.
“You try so hard in this world today and add value back to things. It seemed like something that I saw as a futuristic problem,” Dezso said.
From the outset, Dezso was impressed by BrightStar Care’s forward-thinking approach. As a business owner, he truly appreciates the multiple revenue streams, the ability to tap into over 100 national accounts and the advanced technology the franchise system affords.
Guided by solid corporate support, Dezso can cater to diverse client needs with maximum efficiency.
“This isn’t a cookie-cutter type of business,” emphasized Dezso. “We have three different territories, and the business mix between those three territories is nowhere near being identical!”
Franchise owners are also able to identify the needs of their communities and meet them any way they choose, whether it be leveraging that national account system, offering companion care, personal care, medical staffing or a combination of all.
Additionally, BrightStar Care’s accreditation by the prestigious Joint Commission – the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare – makes it an ideal partner for large healthcare companies looking to hire home care providers.
On the personal side, the BrightStar Care franchise system fits the Dezso family’s needs by offering them freedom and flexibility.
“My wife and I like to travel. You don’t have to be trapped in an office on a day-to-day basis,” Dezso said. “That flexible time being out of the office is great.”
