Sometimes, when one door closes, another one opens.

That’s how the Daigneault couple felt in 2016 when, in the aftermath of Janet Daigneault’s layoff from her executive IT job, they discovered Aussie Pet Mobile.

And as Janet and her husband, Rick, performed their due diligence, Rick realized he wanted in on the opportunity, too. He resigned from his CFO position at a children’s museum, and together the couple launched their Woodland Springs, Texas, business.

When asked what tipped the scales in Aussie Pet Mobile’s favor, Janet immediately answered: “The people. All the franchise owners talked about how much fun they were having with the franchise,” she said. “People who love pets are generally very nice. So your customers are a very good, nice customer base.”

Additionally, as Rick pointed out, the capital investment wasn’t as hefty as other franchises. But, more than that, the Daigneaults fell in love with the corporate team.

“We felt very comfortable that we would be very well-supported,” said Rick.

“I think the best part is that everybody’s out there to help us be successful. We don’t feel like we’re out there alone,” added Janet.

Bringing different ways of thinking to the table, the partners complement each other’s strengths. While Rick handles accounting and van maintenance, Janet focuses on dispatching and scheduling.

This solid teamwork has made the dream work, and the Daigneaults steadily receive five-star reviews as the business grows. They’re up to nine employees in five years and will soon add a fifth van to their fleet.

“Our short-term goals are really to be out there to service the community, take care of our groomers, and have a top-level service available for people to take care of their pets,” said Rick.

Long-term, the goal is to become a million-dollar franchise, and Rick and Janet said they believe they can do it next year.
